Major health update on NASA's stranded astronauts still in pain months later
NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams returned to Earth in March after being stuck on the International Space Station for more than nine months due to a bungled test flight Two NASA astronauts have told of the aches and pains of life on Earth after being stuck in space for 286 days and admitted 'gravity stinks for a period'. Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams returned to Earth in March following a bungled test flight more than nine months previously that left them stranded on the International Space Station. Their SpaceX capsule parachuted into the Gulf of Mexico on March 18. Within an hour, the astronauts were out of their capsule, waving and smiling at the cameras while being hustled away in reclining stretchers for routine medical checks. And it has not been an easy readjustment to life on Earth as they have now finished nearly two months of physical therapy. It has meant spending two hours a day strength and conditioning training so as as build up muscle mass. And Mr Wilmore, 62, said he is still suffering from back pain now that the rehabilitation has ended. "Gravity stinks for a period, and that period varies for different people, but eventually you get over those neurovestibular balance type of issues," he said, reported the Mail. While Ms Williams, 59, also spoke of tiredness which made it harder for her to wake up early in the mornings as she preferred. Mr Wilmore added: "We're still floating in the capsule in the ocean, and my neck starts hurting, while we still hadn't even been extracted yet.' And it shows how the human body has evolved over millions of years with Earth's gravity. The two expected to be gone just a week or so after launching on Boeing's new Starliner crew capsule on June 5. So many problems cropped up on the way to the space station that NASA eventually sent Starliner back empty and transferred the test pilots to SpaceX, pushing their homecoming into February. Then SpaceX capsule issues added another month's delay. They circled Earth 4,576 times and travelled 121 million miles by the time of splashdown. Part of their readjustment has seen them speak with psychologists and psychiatrists about their experiences on the ISS. 'You're thrown together day and night seven days a week at 24 hours a day, and just like any family there's a point where something rubs you the wrong way or something - that happens anywhere,' said Mr Wilmore. Both retired Navy captains, Mr Wilmore and Ms Williams stressed they didn't mind spending more time in space — a prolonged deployment reminiscent of their military days - when they returned to Earth. But they acknowledged it was tough on their families.

Alan Shearer breaks silence on Match of the Day future after Gary Lineker exit
Gary Lineker waved goodbye to Match of the Day on Sunday night after 26 years presenting the BBC's Premier League highlights show, many of which were spent alongside Alan Shearer Alan Shearer has confirmed that he won't be leaving Match of the Day despite 'amazing friend' Gary Lineker's exit. Lineker hosted his final episode on Sunday, having sat in the presenter's chair for 26 years. Lineker's departure from the programme - which had been planned since November - came amid an anti-Semitism scandal which prompted the 64-year-old to end his contract with BBC 14 months early. Lineker was supposed to front the BBC's coverage of the FA Cup in the 2025-26 season before ending his stint with the broadcast at the World Cup next summer. Shearer and Micah Richards were the pundits sat next to Lineker for his emotional farewell. The trio, who have a podcast together, reviewed the final day of this season's Premier League before Lineker was given a touching send-off. But Shearer won't be going anywhere. Confirming that he'll be staying on, the Newcastle legend told the Mail: "He got a really emotional send off on Sunday, and one he deserved, and he's a brilliant broadcaster, and he's a great friend of mine, and we will all miss him. Shearer added: "It's different for myself and Micah, because it's not as if we're not ever going to see him again. I mean, we've done two recordings of our podcast as well, so we're still going to be sort of working together." The BBC put together a seven-minute montage featuring tributes from the likes of Pep Guardiola, Arne Slot, Virgil van Dijk and Paul Gascoigne. Shearer was among them, saying: "Match of the Day is everything to him. He loves it, it means the world to him. Off air he's very calm, very generous. You are an amazing friend." Signing off on Sunday night, Lineker told viewers: "Let me take the opportunity to thank all the other pundits I've had the pleasure of working with over the last 25 years. You've made my job so much easier. "Also, thanks to all those you don't see at home. The work that goes into making this iconic show is a huge team effort. From the editors to the analysis team, from the commentators to the floor managers, from the producers to the camera operators, from the PAs to the subs. Will Match of the Day be a success without Gary Lineker? Give us your prediction in the comments section. "Thank you all you're the very best. Everyone else did all the hard work and I got the plaudits. It's been an absolute privilege to host Match of the Day for a quarter of a century. It's been utterly joyous. "I'd like to wish Gabby (Logan), Mark (Chapman), and Kelly (Cates) all the best when they sit in the chair The programme is in the best of hands. "My final thank you goes to all of you. Thank you for watching. Thank you for all your love and support over the years. It's been so special. I'm sorry that your team was always on last. Time to say goodbye." ‘Traumatic journey of betrayal': Hugh Jackman's wife Deborra-Lee Furness breaks silence on divorce amid cheating rumours
Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness are officially heading for divorce two years after announcing their separation. The duo were married for 27 long years and have two kids, Oscar and Ava. Reportedly, Furness approached the Suffolk County Supreme Court in New York on May 23 for an uncontested divorce, which means only a judge's signature is needed to end the marriage. While Deborra's legal team has confirmed they have received the spousal support payment, the couple are reportedly struggling to split their combined $250 million fortune. On the other hand, speaking to the Daily Mail, the Australian actor, for the first time, broke silence on divorce and took a public swipe at the Wolverine star amid infidelity rumours. Jackman is currently dating his The Music Man co-star Sutton Foster. The duo first sparked dating rumours in 2023. Now, after two years of silence over the sudden divorce move, Furness is expressing sympathy for anyone who has 'traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,' just like hers, and said her faith helped her get through this difficult time. 'It's a profound wound that cuts deep; however, I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working for us,' she told the Mail in a scathing statement. She believes that even painful experiences lead us to learn and grow, and in the end, despite the end of almost three decades of marriage, being true to yourself is the key to freedom. 'It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values, and boundaries is liberation and freedom,' she said. Also read: Hugh Jackman was 'embarrassed' to fall in love with wife Behind the scenes, the divorce is said to be chaos-free, unlike most Hollywood divorces that drag on for weeks, years, and even decades in some cases. Deborra-Lee's lawyer, Elena Karabatos, earlier submitted legal papers including details about health care coverage, child support, and the settlement. Both she and Hugh Jackman seem to have agreed on terms quietly, so they only need to come to court to sign the papers. 'There was some back and forth regarding this financial agreement, but in the end, [Deborra] got what she believed she deserved. Both are coming out of this financially secure,' an insider told Mail on Tuesday. Also read: Hugh Jackman to split with wife Deborra-Lee Furness after living 'separate lives' The marriage had been strained for years, and Furness suspected Hugh of cheating on her, according to a close friend of the Australian star who spoke to the same outlet in November last year, claiming, 'They based their marriage on honesty. But if Hugh didn't physically cheat, she knows that he did emotionally.' Over the years, the couple has owned and sold multiple properties, including a $21 million penthouse in New York, a $5.9 million beach house in Sydney, and a property in East Hampton, New York. However, according to a source, 'They have worked out the details in advance and everything is ironed out in terms of a settlement.' The couple is reportedly planning to be amicable and fully committed to co-parenting their kids. Despite all this, Deborra-Lee says she remains grateful and focused on healing. Back in September 2023, the couple released a joint statement saying, 'We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting, and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.'

Elon Musk's father, Errol Musk, opens up on his battle against prostate cancer
Credit: X For the first time, Errol Musk, father of billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, has spoken about his prostate cancer diagnosis. The retired engineer from Cape Town, South Africa, shared his experience while supporting the Mail's campaign for a national screening programme. Errol, 79, had no symptoms of prostate cancer when doctors discovered it during routine blood tests for an unrelated condition. Speaking in England, he told the Mail: 'I feel lucky to be alive and feel fortunate my tumour was caught early, while it was still treatable - but there are so many men who are not so fortunate.' Recounting the diagnosis Errol said his elevated prostate specific antigen (PSA) level was first flagged in February last year during a routine checkup following open-heart surgery. 'A few years ago, I went for a flying medical and the doctor rushed me to a cardiologist, and I had an open-heart operation as a result of that,' he said. 'I keep going back for checkups and so on. I'm all right, I had a valve repair, replacement, in my heart.''But when I went for my checkup at the beginning of last year, they said to me, with the many blood tests they do, that I had a raised PSA. Not particularly raised, but it was raised.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Médico: Eu imploro que os Brasileiros usem isso para emagrecer Palmilha Emagrecedora Compre já Undo In a video interview shared exclusively with the Mail by his friend Avi Lasarow, Errol recalled the blunt manner of his diagnosis. 'I always thought when you go into see a doctor and he's going to tell you that you have cancer, that he first tells you to sit down, and maybe offers you a cup of tea and asks you, if you're comfortable, if you'd like a cushion? They don't do that. You've barely sat down on a hard bench chair, and they've said: 'You have cancer!'' Undergoing surgery and recovery Errol recounted the discussion with his doctor: 'After seeing the urologist, he said to me I have cancer of the prostate. I said: 'Well, what now, you know?' He said: 'Well, we can remove the prostate, and then we have to see what's left.' So, I agreed and I went for this operation and they removed my prostate and also all the lymph nodes on the right side, they teared that all out as well.' 'The biopsy showed that the prostate was carcinomas. It wasn't a question of leaving it. It was a case of stopping the cells from spreading. So, it was definitely the right decision in terms of maintaining my life. They didn't suggest to me that there was an alternative. They said you must have this removed. And as I've been going back, I don't seem to have a problem at this point.' Errol had the operation in July 2024, cancelling a planned overseas trip. Around that time, Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt, and Elon Musk publicly endorsed Trump for president. Sharing the news with Elon Musk Errol said he broke the news to his son via email. Elon's reply: 'Sorry, dad - whatever it costs, I'll pay.'Recovery was challenging for Errol. 'For the first six weeks, I actually felt pretty awful. You feel no strength. Your body feels weak, your legs weak, you just feel old, and you don't feel very good. The doctor said to me it would take 12 months after the operation before I felt all right. But I started to feel ok after three months. I'm much better now, and I'm looking forward to getting to the 12 months.' Looking ahead, Errol plans to launch Musk Health Systems, a DNA testing service focusing on longevity and screening for genetic predispositions to illnesses such as prostate and breast cancer. DNA testing, he believes, can guide treatment decisions and help relatives identify their own risks.

Meghan Markle could face 'unlikely rival' as TV star makes huge career change
Penny Lancaster, who is married to rock legend Rod Stewart, recently launched a new career venture - and one journalist believes she could soon rival Meghan Markle Penny Lancaster could reportedly rival Meghan Markle 's lifestyle brand if she chooses to fully commit to a new business endeavour. The former model, who is married to singer Sir Rod Stewart, revealed recently that she has started producing a product initially made for her family, now sharing it with friends as well. A recent article compared the 54-year-old to the Duchess of Sussex, who recently entered the business world with her lifestyle brand, As Ever. Writing in the Mail on Sunday, it was stated that Penny is "giving Meghan's As Ever brand a run for its money" with her line of honey, coinciding with reports that Meghan is trying to make a splash with her Raspberry Spread. While speaking at the Chelsea Flower Show, the Loose Women star mentioned that she had previously been producing the item solely for her family, but is now sharing it with friends. Harriet also disclosed that Penny began her unusual venture with a few beehives at her mansion, reports Glasgow Live. Beyond honey, the Duchess sells various food products on her website, including Herbal Lemon Ginger Tea and a Shortbread Cookie Mix with Flower Sprinklers. Nevertheless, one particular product might signal an emerging rivalry. For $28, customers can sample Meghan's Limited-Edition Wildflower Honey with Honeycomb on the As Ever website, described as being "inspired by Meghan's own appreciation" of the "art of harvesting" at her California home in Montecito. It now seems that Penny Lancaster could challenge Meghan Markle in the world of lifestyle brands if she decides to take her new venture a step further. In the world of celebrity updates, Penny recently took to Instagram to express her immense pride in her husband, a true music icon, as they celebrate an impressive 18 years of marriage. Accompanied by a love heart emoji and a congratulatory banner, Penny couldn't hide her admiration for the 80 year old rock star: "So proud of my man - lifetime achievement award @amas." The photo shows Rod looking dapper in a black suit with a crisp white shirt. The rock sensation has been honoured with the American Music Awards' lifetime achievement award, which was presented by five of his children in a touching moment. Addressing the audience, Rod expressed his surprise and delight: "I'm absolutely flabbergasted. I didn't know they were here - my children." He proceeded to thank his fellow musicians and reminisced about his youthful passion for simply wanting to sing—not for fame or fortune. Rod humbly said: "That's all I wanted to do. I didn't want to be rich or famous. And here I am, a few years later, picking up this wonderful award." Renowned for chart-toppers like 'Da Ya Think I'm Sexy? ' and 'Maggie May', the legendary singer has amassed over 120 million album sales globally, with numerous albums reaching the Billboard 200's top spots. Among other headline-grabbers of the evening were Eminem who bagged Favourite Male Hip Hop Artist, and Billie Eilish who triumphed as Artist of the Year.
