Report hints at no price increase for the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 — and that's good news for the Galaxy S26

When it comes to flagship Android phones and chips, Qualcomm's run of Snapdragon 8 processors have been the go to for the best Android phones like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. Part of the problem is Qualcomm has raised the prices for its flagship system-on-chip every year for the last couple of generations. And that may have contributed to price increases on phones powered by that silicon. However, a new report from regular leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo indicates that Qualcomm might not raise prices on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2. According to a machine translation of that DCS post, the "new machine can theoretically maintain the original price." Qualcomm's Gen 2 chip is rumored to make a massive leap in both CPU and GPU performance, so little or no movement on price is a big deal. With tariffs affecting everything from cheap clothing to phone chips and beyond, there have been reports that companies that use Qualcomm's chip like Xiaomi, Honor and Oppo have been looking for more Chinese-made silicon to power their phones. It's not clear at this time how close those companies are to weaning off of Qualcomm. On a bigger level every year, reports circulate that Samsung might turn to its own Exynos chips instead of the latest Snapdragon to be the primary SoCs for its premium Galaxy devices. Next year's Samsung Galaxy S26 and the rumored Exynos 2600 is no different. For the most part, that hasn't happened as Samsung's phones have largely featured the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 chipset, save of the Exynos 2500-powered Galaxy Z Flip 7. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. If Qualcomm's chip retains a similar price, it might mean that next year's S26 lineup receives beefier upgrades in other components since Samsung won't be spending as much money on its processor. Typically, Qualcomm reveals its flagship SoCs in the fall. So we'll know more about how advanced Gen 2 will be later this fall, and potentially its cost. OnePlus Nord 5 review

GSMArena Team , 8 July 2025 . 512GB 12GB RAM € 549.00 The OnePlus Nord 5 offers a handful of new upgrades and a completely revamped design, more aligned with the current design trends but still crafted tastefully. In fact, the new Nord 5 has an iPhone-esque vibe. Okay, maybe not in the sense of the iPhone Pros, but the vanilla iPhone. More importantly, OnePlus didn't go crazy with the camera island, unlike most smartphone makers. This year's Nord also really packs a punch. It's the first in the Nord family to feature a Snapdragon 8 series chipset. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is quite powerful and offers near-flagship-level GPU performance on a budget. OnePlus has fitted the Nord 5 with a matching display, making it the first OnePlus to offer a 144Hz display. But it's not only faster but also bigger, too, measuring 6.83" in diagonal. As for battery capacity, the Indian market will enjoy the top capacity of 6,800mAh. The Chinese version of the phone is dubbed OnePlus Ace Ultra, and it, too, comes with an extra-large battery pack. OnePlus Nord 5 • OnePlus Ace 5 Ultra We are reviewing the European spec device, however, and it comes with a paltry 5,200 mAh cell. That's even a slight downgrade from last year's Nord 4, which had a 5,500 mAh battery. Go figure! Another novelty is the new Plus Key replaces the good old Alert Slider, kinda like Apple replaced it with an Action key on the iPhone. The Plus Key still functions as a switch between different sound profiles by default, but you can also you can assign other actions to it, such as taking a screenshot, translating text, recording audio, launching the camera, activating the flashlight, or summoning the AI Plus Mind tool. The camera system has also received some love this year, with the Nord bringing a significant upgrade in the selfie department. It's now wider and supposedly sharper thanks to a bigger 50MP sensor. It looks like OnePlus is aiming at the all-rounder title in the segment with the Nord 5, but competition is still pretty strong in the €500-600 tier. Let's see how it stacks against its rivals. Unboxing the OnePlus Nord 5 We received the European variant, so the retail box is quite modest. The handset comes with the usual user manuals and includes only a USB-A to USB-C cable for charging and data transfer. There's no charger in the box or a protective case. The Indian retail package contains the appropriate 80W SuperVOOC power adapter and a protective case.

Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 Launch Confirmed For This Month, Comes With Leica Cameras

Last Updated: Xiaomi foldable series could be enhanced with the Flip 2 model that could have similar features like the Galaxy Z Flip 6 version. Xiaomi is bringing the next-gen Mix Flip 2 model in China this month and the new model will feature a Leica camera system. The company has not shared a launch date for the flip phone but a new product teaser with 'see you this month" suggests the official unveiling of the Mix Flip 2 is not far away. Xiaomi is likely to power the device with the new Snapdragon 8 flagship chipset, which promises faster processing speeds and better overall efficiency for the device. We should also expect the device to come with a HyperOS version out of the box, something that the product teaser also hints at. While the teaser does not show us the device or any part of its design, we can expect the form factor to be similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 version. As mentioned by tipster Digital Chat Station previously, the Mix Flip 2 could feature a 6.85-inch LTPO OLED inner display with a 1.5K resolution. As for the cover screen, it is expected to come with a 4.01-inch 1.5K flexible AMOLED panel. The biggest upgrade could be on the imaging front, with a Leica-powered dual rear camera setup expected to be housed within a module. The upcoming model is said to offer a 50MP primary sensor with a 1/1.5-inch sensor and a 50MP 1/2.76-inch ultra-wide angle lens. This means the telephoto lens would be replaced by an Ultra-Wide angle sensor in the Mix Flip 2. Xiaomi is likely to offer IPX8 rating for the new Mix model, and has support for a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security. The Mix Flip 2 is said to support wireless charging, unlike its predecessor. The other big talking about could be the rumoured 5,100mAh battery packed inside the device with support for 67W fast-charging out of the box. The Mix Flip 2 launch price remains unclear. However, its predecessor was first unveiled in China at CNY 6,499 (Rs 77,600 approx) for the single 12GB+512GB variant which could be the range for the Mix Flip 2 launch price as well. Xiaomi has become more proactive with its premium devices in India but even then the chances of the Mix Flip 2 (or any foldable) launching in the country are very low.
