Lexus Sport concept unveiled: LFA successor on the horizon?
Toyota Motor Corporation has unveiled the Lexus Sport Concept, a future-focused concept car. Could this be the LFA's successor? Revealed at the 2025 Edition of The Quail motorsport gathering during this year's Monterey Car Week, while a camouflaged prototype of this car was showcased at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the unveiling of the Lexus Sport Concept marks the first time this future-focused concept car has been seen undisguised by the public. Official powertrain specifications remain under wraps, but from the howling soundtrack it produced when running up the Goodwood Hill (watch the footage here…and remember to turn up the sound), it could just be what reports have suggested – a V8 equipped with forced induction in the form of turbocharging and incorporating electric assistance. Reports have also suggested the hybrid setup could be coupled with a transaxle transmission. As a reminder, the Lexus LFA employed a 4.8l naturally aspirated V10. Co-developed by Yamaha, the LFA's powertrain produced a peak power output of 412kW and 480N.m of torque, the former and latter available from 8 700 and 6 800 r/min, respectively. The Sport Concept's design seems to draw inspiration from the LC500 and the legendary LFA, with standout details of the front facia including sharp daytime-running lights and triangular bonnet vents. The Sport Concept's sculpted profile sits atop a set of large wheels and flows towards a rear end that's characterised by a striking lighting array and large rear diffuser. Could The Lexus Sport Concept Be The Long Awaited LFA Successor
Lexus turned heads at Monterey Car Week when it unveiled the breathtaking Sport Concept at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering. This isn't just another concept car—it's a bold statement about the future of Lexus performance, and it may very well be the beginning of a new chapter for the brand. The story has been building for months. Earlier this year, two mysterious camouflaged prototypes appeared at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and on California roads. One was clearly a GT3 racer, the other looked like a road-going supercar. Now, with the Sport Concept finally revealed, it seems Toyota and Lexus are preparing not one, but three high-performance machines: a full-blown GT3 race car, a Toyota GR sports car, and this luxury-focused Lexus coupe that blends cutting-edge design with unmistakable presence. Visually, the Sport Concept is stunning. It carries echoes of the beloved LC and the legendary LFA, yet it feels like something entirely new. The long hood, set-back cabin, and dramatic proportions suggest a front-engine, rear-drive layout with a rear transaxle, while massive air vents, integrated exhausts beneath the wing, and aerodynamic details show this car means business. Even without an interior on display, the stance alone tells us Lexus is serious about performance. Under the skin, whispers point to an electrified twin-turbo V8 as the powertrain of choice. Toyota's version is expected to lean toward a high-performance hybrid setup, while the Lexus could feature a plug-in hybrid system tuned for even more power. Meanwhile, the GT3 race car is likely to use a stripped-back version of the same engine, perfectly suited to endurance racing—something Toyota chairman Akio Toyoda is famously passionate about. So what exactly is this Lexus? A successor to the LC? A spiritual revival of the LFA? Or perhaps a brand-new flagship for a new era? Lexus describes it as a 'progressively styled, future-focused yet truly authentic sportscar,' and from the looks of it, that's no exaggeration. The wait won't be long. Full details are expected before the end of 2025, with production versions of all three cars slated to arrive by 2027. If this Monterey debut is a preview of what's to come, Lexus is ready to shake up the world of performance cars once again—combining luxury, technology, and motorsport passion in a way only Lexus can.

Lexus Unveils Surprise Supercar Concept At The Quail
It's edgy and appears to employ styling elements from Ferrari, Jaguar, and, maybe even Porsche. Not originally expected to appear at the California event, could this surprise new Sport Concept be a Lexus morphing into a new LC or maybe even a second-generation LFA? From the looks of this sleek coupe, that was just unveiled at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, this new concept appears to be an evolution of the Electrified Sport Concept that Lexus first revealed in 2021. Why do we say 'appears to be?' Simply because Lexus was giving out very little background information on this car. So we will have to delve into what Toyota's luxury brand has been tempting us with of late to get an idea of where this concept may go. Choosing to follow the same launch protocol as many of its rivals, Lexus selected America's prestigious The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering which is an integral part of the now famous Monterey Car Week held in Carmel, California. The new Lexus Sport Concept will employ an EV powertrain…probably The new Lexus Sport Concept found itself alongside rare classic cars like a Ferrari F50 GT1 and a Shelby Mustang GT350, and strategic reveals of new concepts and production models from Corvette, Aston Martin, Bentley, Lamborghini, Pagani, Koenigsegg, Porsche, as well as Ruf, Singer and Bugatti. Occupied by some of the best looking kinetic art on the planet, Monterey Car Week is the perfect setting for a new car reveal, and Lexus has taken the opportunity to unveil its new Sport Concept at The Quail. The sporty, low-slung, wide-bodied coupe reminds us of the Electrified Sport Concept that Lexus first teased in 2021, but employs a more sophisticated design that appears ready for production. With Lexus PR types remaining tight-lipped about specs, the Sport Concept's technical details are still under wraps. We do know that the brand is currently working on another supercar called the LFR, which according to Car and Driver, is expected to feature a twin-turbocharged hybrid V-8 powertrain. So with an internal combustion engine set to occupy that the LFR's engine bay, we suspect that the Sport Concept will employ an all-electric powertrain. When Lexus first unveiled its Electrified Sport Concept in 2021, the brand suggested a two-second plus 0-60mph sprint time and around 430 miles of range thanks to new solid-state batteries. Japan is long overdue for an electric supercar, so perhaps this Sport Concept could break the mold.
