Sounds like Lesnar vs. Cena will headline WWE PLE opposite AEW All Out

The unexpected return of Brock Lesnar at the end of SummerSlam set the stage for one last clash between the former UFC & WWE champ and the retiring John Cena. Typically, that match would go down at WWE's next premium live event, which happens in France at the end of this month. But Cena was booked to face Logan Paul on Aug. 31's Clash in Paris PLE, leaving us to wonder when the seventh and final one-on-one match between two of WWE's biggest modern stars would occur. A report yesterday (Aug. 11) may have indirectly shed some light on it. Word is WWE will run a main roster event in Indianapolis on Sat., Sept. 20 — the same day AEW holds All Out 2025 in Toronto. Many connected the dots between that item and WWE holding off on scheduling a Lesnar/Cena bout. One of those was Dave Meltzer, who said on the post-Raw episode of Wrestling Observer Radio: 'It can change, but the main event for this [unnamed, unannounced Sept. 20 WWE] show is Brock Lesnar and John Cena. So it's a big one. Which is why Brock's not in Paris, is because of this. They wanted him for this show, not for the Paris show. And that's where Logan Paul got the gig.' Whenever it happens it will be Lesnar's first match since 2023, back before he was named in Janel Grant's still-active sex trafficking lawsuit against WWE and its former Chairman Vince McMahon.

Bret 'The Hitman' Hart Is Upset With WWE Over SummerSlam Incident

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. WWE Hall of Famer Bret "The Hitman" Hart has once again voiced his frustration with WWE. In a new fan convention appearance, Hart claimed the company invited him to SummerSlam earlier this month but then failed to provide him with a seat at the event. The three-time Hall of Famer stated that the incident made him feel that WWE does not fully appreciate his contributions to the business. The comments were made during a recent appearance at the Vaughan Comic Con. Bret Hart: "They Didn't Have Any Seats For Me" Hart explained that he was invited by WWE to be in the crowd for the massive two-night event at MetLife Stadium. However, when he arrived, he was told that there were no seats available for him. "This year, WWE told me that they wanted me to be in the crowd (at SummerSlam)," Hart said. "Then they told me once I got there that they didn't have any seats for me." He then made a pointed reference to another Hall of Famer, his longtime rival Kevin Nash. "But I noticed Kevin Nash got a seat," he added. "Maybe I finally realized that I don't think they really fully appreciate me... there's just no certain appreciation for anything I did." Steve Haag/More news: WWE Superstar Announces Retirement Match Bret Hart's Complicated WWE History Bret Hart has had a famously contentious and bitter relationship with WWE for decades. The animosity is rooted in the infamous "Montreal Screwjob" at Survivor Series in 1997, where WWE owner Vince McMahon secretly changed the finish of Hart's final match, costing him the WWE Championship on his way out of the company. That event created a deep, years-long rift and a sense of betrayal that has colored Hart's perception of the company ever since. Even after his reconciliation with WWE and multiple Hall of Fame inductions, Hart has remained one of the company's most outspoken critics. He has recently been very critical of the in-ring style of stars like GUNTHER and the legacies of legends like Hulk Hogan. Old WWE Rivalries Die Hard Hart's specific mention of Kevin Nash is also rooted in a long history of real-life animosity. Hart has been publicly critical of Nash's in-ring ability and his backstage influence as a member of The Kliq for decades. Seeing his old rival seemingly get preferential treatment at a major event was a clear point of frustration for "The Hitman." Despite his feelings of being unappreciated, Hart was just inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame for a third time this past April, as his WrestleMania 13 match with Steve Austin was given a special "Immortal Moment" induction. WWE 'Raw': CM Punk, LA Knight team up to face Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed

Aug. 12 (UPI) -- CM Punk and LA Knight teamed up to take on Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed in the main event of WWE Raw. Punk kicked off the show on Monday and discussed his ongoing issues with his rival, World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. Punk said Rollins was trying his best to be Punk but that he was failing miserably. Punk then apologized to the audience for allowing Rollins to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase at SummerSlam and said he was more obsessed then ever with becoming champion once again. Punk promised to defeat Rollins in the future and break his legs in the process. The Voice of the Voiceless was then approached by LA Knight, who told Punk he didn't have an issue with him, but to stay out of his way when it came to Rollins. Rollins and his group, now known as The Vision, then arrived onto the scene. The Vision consists of Rollins, Breakker, Reed and manager Paul Heyman, who challenged Punk and Knight to a tag team match in the main event. Punk and Knight worked well as a team. Punk gained momentum as he nailed Breakker with a top rope elbow drop. As Punk got ready to deliver the Go to Sleep, Rollins rushed the ring and attacked his rival, ending the match in a disqualification. The Vision began to beat down Punk and Knight as Jey Uso arrived onto the scene with a chair to make the save. Uso cleared away The Vision, who were then greeted by Raw general manager Adam Pearce at the entrance ramp. Pearce, using his authority, said Rollins would have to defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Uso, Knight and Punk in a Fatal 4-Way match at Clash in Paris on Aug. 31 due to his antics. The announcement caused Punk and Knight to start brawling inside the ring as they saw each other as future opponents. The Vision took advantage of the brawl and proceeded to decimate Punk, Knight and Uso as Raw ended.

CM Punk accepts Paul Heyman's challenge, only to be ambushed by a ‘pinked-out' Seth Rollins; their fate for Clash In Paris has been decided

The wheels are moving, and the WWE is trying to gain some serious momentum post the release of their new documentary Unreal on Netflix. The company's next PLE is Clash In Paris, and during this week's episode of Raw, the fans were informed about probably the most important match on the card, for the heavyweight championship. Currently the title is held by Seth Rollins, who won it after he cashed in his MITB contract during Summerslam. CM Punk had just gone through a gruelling match and was in no condition to play it back one more time. Rollins made quick work of him and snatched the title, making it his sixth world championship. During Raw, Punk came out to the ring and demanded his title shot, only to be interrupted by LA Knight, whose match against Rollins ended in no contest because Punk attacked the champion. As both men continued the argument, Paul Heyman came out to set up a match between the teams of Bronson Reed-Bron Breakker and CM Punk-LA Knight. The duo accepted the challenge, and they almost got a victory out of it when Seth showed up to the ring and attacked Punk, forcing the referee to call off the match. But as Seth and his crew started walking away from the ring, Raw manager Adam Pearce walked out and announced that Seth will now have to defend his title against Punk, Knight and Jey Uso at the Clash In Paris. ALSO READ: Hulk Hogan's daughter Brooke sparks conspiracy theories over his death: 'We don't have cancer in our family' With this development, WWE has now announced three matches for their PLE in Paris, including Naomi vs Stephanie Vaquer for the Women's Championship and John Cena vs Logan Paul. The latter of the three matches will presumably serve as a bridge in Cena's ongoing feud with Brock Lesnar, who attacked him after SummerSlam ended. Cena shocked fans before the event when he turned to the good side once again and became a babyface (good guy). Even though Cena lost the championship to Cody Rhodes during SummerSlam, the support from the fans only grew, as the entire WWE Universe slowly realized they were witnessing the final matches of the 17-time world champion. John Cena has been on his farewell tour this year and will officially retire from in-ring performances come December. Since announcing his retirement, Cena has wrestled several of his marquee opponents, such as CM Punk, Randy Orton, and Cody Rhodes, and he even won the Elimination Chamber. The Trainwreck actor made history during Wrestlemania 41, as he broke legend Ric Flair's record of holding 16 world championships. With only a handful of events left in the year, the story of Brock Lesnar vs Cena makes sense, and beating Logan Paul on his way could prove to be the right strategy for the company and Cena himself.

Seth Rollins Details The Lengths He Went To Sell His Injury Leading Into SummerSlam

Seth Rollins was in full sell mode regarding the fake injury he suffered last month at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event. Rollins returned Saturday night at SummerSlam and cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase on CM Punk to become World Heavyweight Champion once again. WWE Superstar Seth Rollins was a recent guest on The Rich Eisen Show. During his appearance, Rollins detailed the lengths that he went to sell the injury heading into SummerSlam. 'My wife is an unwilling participant in this ruse,' Seth Rollins said. 'She was very upset at me for making me lie to all of her friends and family for the better part of three weeks. She was very upset. I said, 'Honey, just trust me, the payoff will be great.' My daughter thought it was a game. She thought it was a fun little game. 'I told her, 'Daddy has a pretend boo-boo for the next few weeks. Let's keep that on the low.' First thing she did was go and tell her preschool teacher, Ms. Joy, immediately. Then, she had to tell me she told Ms. Joy and gave me the classic, 'Na-na-boo-boo, I told Ms. Joy.' I'm like, 'How am I supposed to live my life? How am I supposed to get this through. Focus. Kayfabe, young Roux, kayfabe.' Here we are, three weeks later, nobody went to the dirt sheets or the news. Thank you, Roux, thank you, Ms. Joy. It was an honor and a pleasure. Three weeks of being on crutches 'The payoff was more beautiful than I could have expected. 'Limping around on those crutches for three weeks was excruciating. That was painful. I went to the gym, I took my daughter to the beach for ice cream, I dropped her off at the preschool, I went for a nice steak dinner with my wife, Bianca Belair, and Montez Ford with the crutches. I did it all on crutches. 'It was excruciating. The crutches alone were painful. I thought I was going to get a shoulder injury, a real one, get surgery and go to Birmingham legit. I was getting irritable, my wife was putting up with me being grumpy. It was a tough one, but we pulled through and did it. For the greater good.' [H/T: Fightful] Seth Rollins will appear on RAW later tonight, where he will address his actions to the WWE Universe.
