Some days call for switching off from the real world.
When the inbox is brimming and the heat outside feels relentless, a getaway doesn't sound bad – especially when it comes with a cracking view and a massage table.
The Summer Spa Ritual at Banyan Tree Dubai ticks all those boxes, with a few indulgent extras thrown in for good measure.
This sun-soaked daycation is available all summer, with prices starting from Dhs590 per person on weekdays and Dhs690 on weekends.
What to expect?
A one-hour treatment at Banyan Tree Spa, one of the largest in Dubai, at a massive 2,257 square metres.
Expect a mix of Asian and Middle Eastern wellness rituals, performed by highly skilled therapists who know exactly how to ease the tension from your shoulders or coax you into a blissed-out state with a signature massage.
Before or after your treatment, you can also add a one-hour Rainforest Experience to your package for an additional charge of Dhs350. It's a fun hydrothermal journey (literally, like walking through rain) with vitality pools, an ice fountain and steam and sauna rooms. If lounging's more your thing, there are heated recliners and private suites, some with jacuzzis.
And while you're at it, you can always peruse the menu and add on anything you fancy for a full-on pampering session.
The ritual doesn't stop there. You'll also sit down to a two-course lunch at Alizée, the resort's relaxed French-Mediterranean spot.
Then you've got all-day access to the Banyan Tree pool and beach, so there's no rush to leave once you're well-fed and floating in that post-spa bliss.
Banyan Tree Dubai itself is a destination worth lingering in.
Tucked along a quiet stretch of Bluewaters Island, it's got the feel of a modern-day sanctuary, with Asian-inspired interiors, three pools, a yoga deck and 500 metres of private beach to wander. Whether you're gazing at Ain Dubai or dozing off in a lounger, you'll be glad you came.
To book your summer escape, head to Banyan Tree Dubai any day of the week until the season winds down. Just be warned: after a taste of this much peace, re-entering the real world might take some time.

Elephant tramples tourist 'who took its photo with flash on'

A tourist had to run for his life before being trampled by an elephant after apparently venturing too close for a selfie. The man reportedly trespassed in a restricted forest near the Bankapur temple in Karnataka, southwest India. He allegedly tried to take a selfie with the creature but had to flee when it turned on him after being startled by the flash. Footage taken by visitors driving through the reserve on Sunday shows the elephant shrieking as it thunders across the road to chase the tourist, identified by authorities as R. Basavaraju. As the animal bore down on him he tripped and fell, with his trousers sliding down his waist, before the elephant walked over him. The creature then returned to the wilderness, leaving him splayed out on the road having fortuitously escaped being crushed under its weight. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Witness Daniel Osorio said the elephant was eating carrots at the side of the road when the tourist approached it to take a selfie. The animal attacked him after being provoked by the sudden bright flash, according to the passer-by. Forest officials said they tracked down Basavaraju at his home in Nanjangud town, also in the state of Karnataka. He was fined 25,000 Rupees (£212) and made to record a video confession, admitting his actions stemmed from ignorance of wildlife safety rules. More Trending Basavaraju also warned other tourists not to make the same mistake. The Forest Department said: 'Such reckless stunts not only endanger human lives but also provoke unpredictable and dangerous animal behaviour.' 'I travelled half way around the world for my favourite scent - and it only cost £15'

I've spent a lot of money on perfumes because of the brand and the celebrity endorsing it rather than the scent itself - but that stopped when I went to Dubai and found my go-to scent. I used to be the type of person who was drawn to a perfume based on the celebrity endorsing it rather than by the scent itself. But everything changed when I found my current all-time favourite scent - and it costs just £15. ‌ Despite the perfume being under £20, I had to travel half way around the world to get it. During my holiday in Dubai, on the very last day, my friend and I visited Old Dubai, an area known for its traditional souks, where you can find gold, spices, clothes, designer dupes, and perfumes. ‌ Looking for souvenir shops, we stumbled across a store which had hundreds of perfume bottles beautifully lined up. After a nice chat with the owner, he recommended a bottle that came in a suede box - and the moment I smelled it, I fell in love. It was like he knew exactly what I was looking for. ‌ After testing many different scents (and spending way too much money), I had finally found the one - and I've never had so many people telling me how good it smells. The perfume is called Ameerat Al Arab and if I had to describe it, I'd say it's a sweet, out-of-the-ordinary smell without being overpowering. Warm, sensual, yet elegant. It smells so distinctive - you'd swear it was from a luxury brand. My only regret? I only bought one bottle. Thankfully, after some digging online, I found the exact same perfume on Amazon for the same price. ‌ For more stories like this subscribe to our weekly newsletter, The Weekly Gulp, for a curated roundup of trending stories, poignant interviews, and viral lifestyle picks from The Mirror's Audience U35 team delivered straight to your inbox. As previously reported by Grazia, the rich and distinctive scent of oud, which is found in Ameerat Al Arab, has become popular over the years. Middle Eastern perfumery is known for its rich, long-lasting oud-based scents, which, compared to other Western alternatives, stand out more. In my opinion, there's no need to spend a ton of money to smell good. With the rise of the oud and long-lasting smells, if you're looking for a fragrance that's perfect for every season with guaranteed compliments, you'll want to consider this one or alternatives such as Ard Al Zaafaran's Oud Orchid and KAYALI Oudgasm Vanilla Oud 36 Eau de Parfum.
