Elephant tramples tourist 'who took its photo with flash on'
The man reportedly trespassed in a restricted forest near the Bankapur temple in Karnataka, southwest India.
He allegedly tried to take a selfie with the creature but had to flee when it turned on him after being startled by the flash.
Footage taken by visitors driving through the reserve on Sunday shows the elephant shrieking as it thunders across the road to chase the tourist, identified by authorities as R. Basavaraju.
As the animal bore down on him he tripped and fell, with his trousers sliding down his waist, before the elephant walked over him.
The creature then returned to the wilderness, leaving him splayed out on the road having fortuitously escaped being crushed under its weight.

Witness Daniel Osorio said the elephant was eating carrots at the side of the road when the tourist approached it to take a selfie.
The animal attacked him after being provoked by the sudden bright flash, according to the passer-by.
Forest officials said they tracked down Basavaraju at his home in Nanjangud town, also in the state of Karnataka.
He was fined 25,000 Rupees (£212) and made to record a video confession, admitting his actions stemmed from ignorance of wildlife safety rules. More Trending

The Forest Department said: 'Such reckless stunts not only endanger human lives but also provoke unpredictable and dangerous animal behaviour.'

At times, the therapist did hit some painful spots, but you can always let her know gently if anything feels uncomfortable. She'll adjust the pressure right away. The second hour was all about the face. The therapist used Clarins products for a deeply relaxing facial massage that left my skin feeling soft, hydrated and visibly refreshed. It was the kind of glow you don't want to wash off. The experience wrapped up with a plate of sweet mango and sticky rice, making for a comforting end to a deeply relaxing leave your session at Makkha Health & Spa Bangkok feeling rejuvenated and rebalanced. These are officially the best cities for Gen Z in Asia
Gen Zs now make up at least a quarter of Asia's population. Born between 1996 and 2012, these youth are now shaping trends in music, fashion, food, art – you name it. At Time Out, we wanted to understand how Gen Zs are experiencing their cities. What do they love about its culture and nightlife? Do they find their cities affordable? Where are they going for a good time? To suss out their opinions, we turned to our annual survey of over 18,500 locals and filtered for responses from those under 30 – producing a definitive list of the world's best cities for Gen Z to live in, according to the youth themselves. And guess what? Five Asian cities made it to the global top 20, with Bangkok, Thailand flying high at No. 1 worldwide. A whopping 84 percent of Gen Z say they're happy living in the Thai capital, perhaps thanks to great affordability (71 percent say it's budget-friendly to live there) and community (Gen Z's here are most likely to say it's easy to make friends in their city). Kate Middleton releases new video celebrating the beauty of British summer

For 2025, Kate Middleton spoke of how she has been comforted by nature over the past year, during which she received treatment for cancer. Spreading a message of love, she has now released a second video through the Kensington Palace social media accounts highlighting the natural beauty of British summertime. She wrote a post on X, signed off with her initial: 'Our lives flourish when we cherish the bonds of love and friendship. It has never been more important to appreciate the value of one another, and of Mother Nature. Here's to Summer. C' Her voiceover is played over video shot by Will Warr, from TopJaw fame, depicting an idyllic vision of British summertime without the raging wildfires. It does include awe-inspiring moments from the UK's landscape, a pollinating bee, huge trees, crashing waves, towering cliffs and children playing in sand dunes. It comes after a furore over her message, which led to her picture being pulled from news agencies, in a row over manipulation which dragged on for weeks and led to a public apology. She told how discrepancies seen in the family photo were not part of some big conspiracy, but her 'amateur' attempts at picture editing. The princess came under scrutiny following her Mother's Day message last year, which included a photo of her and her children said to have been taken by William in Windsor earlier in the week. Questions were raised that the image – the first of the princess to have been released after she underwent abdominal surgery a few weeks earlier – may have been manipulated before it was posted on social media. It was withdrawn by international picture agencies later the same day. Kate publicly took the blame for the manipulated photograph and issued a personal apology for the 'confusion'. She said: 'Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. 'I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. 'I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother's Day. C.' The princess underwent a course of preventative chemotherapy after her cancer diagnosis and announced in September last year that she had completed her treatment.
