DMK not afraid of ED or PM Modi: T.N. Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin
'We are not a subservient party. We belong to the tradition of self-respect founded by Periyar and nurtured by Kalaignar Karunanidhi. We will never bow down to threats,' Mr. Stalin told reporters after inspecting the long-pending indoor sports stadium construction at the District Sports Complex in Pudukottai.
The project, launched in 2015, had been delayed due to funding constraints. 'CM has sanctioned ₹3.5 crore to resume the work. An additional ₹1 crore will be allocated from the local MP and MLAs' constituency development funds to complete the project by December,' he said.
Responding to criticism by AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami, who claimed the Chief Minister visited New Delhi fearing ED action, Mr. Udhayanidhi said, 'The CM went to Delhi to demand Tamil Nadu's financial rights. We have said many times. Those who have done wrong should fear the law. We will face any inquiry within the legal framework.'
Later, Mr. Udhayanidhi distributed welfare assistance worth ₹40.05 crore to 1,175 beneficiaries at an event held at the District Collector's Office.
He handed over house site pattas and housing orders worth ₹3.59 crore to 125 Narikurava (Scheduled Tribe) families and housing orders under the Kalaignar Kanavu Illam Scheme worth ₹35 crore to 1,000 beneficiaries, including the 125 Narikurava families, each receiving ₹3.5 lakh.
Additionally, 50 beneficiaries received land pattas valued at ₹1.45 crore under the scheme for regularising encroachments on unobjectionable land.

DMK government sleeping for four years, says Palaniswami
AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Tuesday alleged that the DMK government was in deep sleep for the last four years and was introducing schemes at the end of its tenure 'to cheat the people'. As part of his Statewide tour, Mr. Palaniswami addressed members of the public at the Krishnagiri roundabout. He said the government, which was in deep sleep for the past four years, was introducing the 'Ungaludan Stalin' and 'Nalam Kaakkum Stalin' schemes now. During the four years of the AIADMK government, between 2017 and 2021, power tariff was not increased. But the DMK government hiked the tariff by 67%, citing the Uday scheme as the reason, and the industrial development was affected, he added. Listing the achievements of his government, Mr. Palaniswami said that for Krishnagiri district, a government medical college hospital, worth ₹348 crore, was constructed. But it was not maintained properly now. Earlier, the former Chief Minister met representatives of farmers' associations. In his interaction with them, he said, 'During AIADMK rule, we met farmers and fulfilled their demands.' The AIADMK government introduced schemes for their welfare. It gave compensation for the crops damaged by wild animals. Electric fences were provided to prevent elephants from entering human habitations. After the AIADMK returned to power, a committee would be formed, and based on its recommendations, steps would be taken to prevent animals from entering human habitations, and compensation would be hiked for the families of those killed in man-animal conflicts. Through the lift irrigation scheme, surplus water would be diverted to lakes from Thenpennai River in the district, Mr. Palaniswami added.
