All govt buildings to be solar powered: Bhatti
The Deputy CM held a video conference with district Collectors and reviewed the implementation of Green Energy Policy under which solar power plants will be installed on all government buildings.
Bhatti instructed that plans of all district collector offices, parking areas, and canteens should be sent to Hyderabad. Since all collectorates in the state have been built in the same design, the designs required for the installation of solar power plants would be sent from Hyderabad. However, if any collectorate has better designs, the respective collectors may send them to Hyderabad.
He stated that solar power plants will be installed in all government offices across the state, from Gram Panchayat buildings to the Secretariat, to produce power on a large scale. A questionnaire related to the details required for setting up solar power plants will be sent to the collectors, and they must fill it in completely and send it to the office of the Principal Secretary for Energy within a week. Apart from government buildings, the Deputy CM directed that solar power plants should also be installed on government schools, junior colleges, degree colleges, and higher education institution buildings, and details of these buildings should be sent.
The collectors were also instructed to send details of the large vacant lands available under the jurisdiction of the Irrigation Department and the Roads & Buildings Department. The Deputy CM explained to the collectors that under the ROFR Act, 6.70 lakh acres of land were distributed by the then Congress government in agency areas, and that, under the Nallamala Declaration, the government plans to provide free solar pump sets in these lands through the Indira Solar Girijana Vikasam scheme.
As part of the Nallamala Declaration, the programme has already started in Achampet constituency, and the state government is planning to launch it in certain areas of Adilabad district this month.

Telangana government to set up panel to end film workers' strike
HYDERABAD: Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Monday announced that the state government will constitute a committee to resolve the ongoing strike by Telugu film industry workers. The committee will hold discussions with all stakeholders to work out an amicable settlement, he said, expressing hope that film shootings would resume from Wednesday. The Telugu Film Industry Employees Federation (TFIEF) has been on strike for the past eight days, demanding a 30% wage hike. Against this backdrop, TFIEF representatives met minister Venkat Reddy at the Secretariat. During the meeting, the minister urged both producers and cine workers to show flexibility and end the strike. 'The government stands with the workers, but they must also consider the concerns of small producers. Only discussions can lead to a solution. A strike is not the right path to resolve issues,' he said. Reiterating the government's vision to make Hyderabad a global film hub, Venkat Reddy stressed the importance of safeguarding the city's reputation as a prime destination for the cinema and entertainment industry. He noted that Telangana's scenic locations have the potential to attract filmmakers, boost tourism, create jobs, and generate revenue for local communities. The minister also said that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is committed to providing housing for economically weaker cine workers and improving amenities to enhance their quality of life. Telangana State Film Development Corporation Chairman Dil Raju emphasised the need for unity within the industry and urged collective support for the government's vision. Special Chief Secretary (Home) Ravi Gupta and representatives of various film associations also attended the meeting.

VIJAYAWADA: The State government will soon unveil a comprehensive new film policy aimed at strengthening the Telugu film industry, Cinematography, Tourism and Culture Minister Kandula Durgesh announced on Monday. During a meeting with film producers at the Secretariat on Monday, Durgesh assured the government's commitment to creating a favourable environment for film production and post-production. Producers submitted a detailed representation outlining industry challenges and requested a meeting with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan to discuss sector-wide development involving 24 assured that he would arrange a meeting with the CM and Deputy CM in the first or second week of September. He also promised government support for constructing studios, dubbing theatres, re-recording facilities, and other infrastructure. On the Nandi Awards, Durgesh revealed that the Chief Minister has decided to revive both the Nandi Awards and Nandi Drama Festival this year, with Pawan Kalyan's inputs. Acknowledging differing views on whether to hold the awards jointly with Telangana or separately, Durgesh said the matter would be placed before the CM and Deputy CM. The discussions also covered criteria for government assistance to films based on production budgets, with assurances of a suitable policy soon.

SUDA Master Plan notified; expanded limits left out
Khammam: The Stambhadri Urban Development Authority (SUDA) on Wednesday notified its much-delayed Draft Master Plan, covering an area of 571.83 sq km, but crucially excluding the expanded limits as notified in October 2023 under GO MS No: 185. The Draft Master Plan, now open for public suggestions and objections for a period of 90 days, encompasses the jurisdiction of Khammam Municipal Corporation (KMC) and 45 revenue villages across seven mandals — Wyra, Khammam Rural, Kusumanchi, Mudigonda, Chintakani, Raghunadhapalem, and Konijerla. The plan was originally commissioned in November 2019 by the then BRS government, aiming for a horizon year of 2041. The project was undertaken by Bengaluru-based Centre for Symbiosis of Technology, Environment and Management (STEM), in partnership with AARVEE Associates, Hyderabad. After completion in November 2021, the plan remained in limbo due to the need for technical and spatial modifications. However, following the change in administration, the Congress government expanded SUDA's jurisdiction through a government order issued in October 2023, bringing in Madhira and Sathupalli municipalities and 279 villages, while excluding agency areas. These newly added areas were designated as a 'Development Area'. Despite the formal expansion, the current draft notification remains restricted to the earlier SUDA limits. Speaking to The Hans India, former SUDA Chairman Bachu Vijay Kumar questioned the timing and intent behind the expansion. 'If the government was planning to notify the already-prepared draft, what was the necessity to expand the SUDA limits? The public deserves clarity on development plans for the newly included areas,' he said. He urged district ministers Bhatti Vikramarka, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and Tummala Nageswara Rao to explain how the new jurisdictions will be integrated into the urban development framework. Officials indicated that the notified Master Plan will guide urban growth until 2050. Significantly, the notification process is being undertaken in the absence of a functional SUDA governing body, which was dissolved by the Congress government shortly after assuming office in 2023.
