Dune: Messiah casts Jason Momoa's son Nakoa-Wolf Momoa as Leto Atreides II
The 16-year-old actor - who is the son of Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet - is set to appear alongside Ida Brooke as Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet) and Chani's (Zendaya) twins Leto II and Ghanima, Deadline has said.
Dune: Messiah will mark Nakoa-Wolf's cinematic debut and will see him appear on-screen with his father - who will be playing Duncan Idaho - while Brooke has been seen in Apple's sci-fi drama Silo and the 2024 BBC series The Primrose Railway Children.
Dune: Messiah - which will be directed by Denis Villeneuve - will be based on author Frank Herbert's 1969 novel of the same name, and will follow Paul Atreides (Chalamet) 12 years into his rule as Emperor of the Known Universe while his reign is engulfed with political conspiracies and moral dilemmas.
As prophecy collides with power, Paul must confront the cost of becoming a messiah.
Dune: Messiah will see the return of Florence Pugh's Princess Irulan, Rebecca Ferguson's Lady Jessica, Javier Bardem's Stilgar, and Josh Brolin's Gurney Halleck.
Robert Pattinson is also said to be in the running for the antagonist role of Scytale - a Face Dancer and secret agent of the Bene Tleilax who plays a central role in Dune: Messiah as part of a conspiracy to overthrow Paul Atreides.
The film is set to start shooting this summer, and is expected to hit screens in December 2026.
Jason Momoa recently confirmed he is due to come back for Dune: Messiah as Duncan Idaho, who is resurrected as a ghola - a genetically engineered clone that plays a critical role in a conspiracy against Paul Atreides.
Speaking on the Today show about his involvement in Dune: Messiah, he said: 'Well, I'm not sure if I'm going to get in trouble or not. But it's the same thing like Game of Thrones, you know what I mean? If you didn't read the books, it's not my fault, right?
'I'm making a comeback. You got me in trouble!'
Villeneuve said he felt 'inspired' to make another Dune movie after he took a break from the franchise following Dune: Part Two, which released in March 2024.
Speaking to TheWrap, the director said: 'When I saw Part Two finished, finally, I realised that that was it. I'd done it. I'd done an adaptation of Dune. And that is something that is an incredible privilege. I'm very grateful to have the chance to have done it.
'I think my biggest surprise about this is that I don't want to run away from Arrakis. I'm still inspired to go back. That's the thing that I was the most surprised by.'
The Blade Runner 2049 filmmaker had initially planned to tackle other projects before revisiting the Dune series for Messiah, though found the pull of completing the trilogy too much to resist.
He continued: 'I felt that after Part Two, I would need a break. I thought that I would want to go write a few films or do a couple of things before going back to Dune: Messiah.
'But the images that kept coming back to my mind, the appetite is absolutely intact. That's the biggest surprise. I still want to go back to Arrakis.'

Jason Momoa is known for playing Aquaman on screen, but in real life, he had a different kind of experience with the ocean. The actor revealed he almost drowned during a harrowing 2007 surf trip off the coast of Maui, as he described the moment in chilling detail on this weeks episode of the SmartLess podcast. 'I was doing this paddle, we went in at Jaws,' Momoa said, as he referred to the infamous PeÊ»ahi surf break known for its massive, deadly waves. 'We paddled like 13 miles down the coast. You're kind of almost a mile offshore, and then my leash snapped. We're about seven miles into it and my leash snapped, and it's so windy on Maui.' Momoa, 46, continued to detail how the violent waves crashed around him, but his previous water training kept him afloat – for a while. 'I was trained pretty well, so I was fine,' he said. 'I took quite a few on the head. They're pretty big, like 10-foot Hawaiian waves. But I'm probably half a mile at that point offshore.' The Hollywood star added that he reached a breaking point during the surf incident, which was nearly fatal. 'I was stuck in this crazy spot, which is probably the outer reef and unknown to me. I was really on the outer reef and they couldn't see me,' he recalled. 'I had my paddle and I was waving it and they couldn't see me, and the waves were so big.' And then, everything hit him at once — including the fear he wouldn't make it back to his daughter, who was an infant at the time. When his thoughts turned to his daughter Lola Iolani, then 3 months old, the actor said, 'I just lost it, I was like, 'Oh s--t.'' At that moment, Momoa remembered being exhausted, drifting and alone. He felt that his survival instincts had failed. 'I was out there for a while, and I just couldn't see anyone coming to get me. I couldn't move anymore, and my arms and my legs gave up … My body stopped. Like I couldn't move my arms anymore, and I bubbled down. Then my toe hit the outer reef. I literally gave up, and I'm screaming inside.' When Momoa thought it was the end, a friend spotted him, and he had to continue to push through the rough waters. 'I get back on the board and we start paddling,' he said. 'He's like, 'You got to go out,' so we just keep paddling out.' The two were soon thrown from their boards by 'brutal' waves and strong currents. With seven gruelling miles still to go, Momoa was bleeding, battered and running on fumes. 'My feet are covered in blood,' he said. 'And I'm just literally [with] my ancestors just paddling the rest of this way, head down and we get out.' The Hollywood actor luckily made it to shore. The Baywatch actor is currently dating actress Adria Arjona after the couple worked together in 2021's Sweet Girl. Momoa and Arjona went public with their relationship in May 2024. Momoa was previously married to The Cosby Show star Lisa Bonet. The two married in 2017 before splitting in 2020. Momoa and Bonet filed for divorce in January 2024. The former couple agreed to joint legal and physical custody of their two children, daughter Lola and son Nakoa-Wolf. Bonet and Momoa agreed to 'share the living expenses' of the minor kids and will not pay child support to one another, the court docs, obtained by Fox News Digital at the time, stated.

New Addams Family animated feature film being developed
Wednesday creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar are creating a new animated Addams Family feature film. The two showrunners of the Netflix series are developing an Addams Family reboot for Amazon MGM Studios which will be unconnected to Wednesday - which stars Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams - and the previous two animated films released in 2019 and 2021. Gough says his and Millar's inspiration is to honour the characters created by late American cartoonist Charles Addams, which were turned into a popular TV series in the mid-60s. Speaking on Deadline's Crew Call podcast, Gough said: "We're working on it with Amazon MGM and with Kevin Miserocchi who runs the Addams Foundation, he knew Charles Addams and the keeper of the Addams flame, and with Gail Berman and John Glickman. We're rebooting the animated film franchise. So it won't have anything to do with the two films before it, nor is it connected with this show. It will be a brand new Addams feature. There's not really much we can say about it, because it's in the very early stages.' The 1960s series about the macabre family - who first appeared in a cartoon strip in The New Yorker magazine - starred John Astin as patriarch Gomez Addams, Carolyn Jones as Gomez's wife Morticia Addams, Jackie Coogan as Uncle Fester, Ted Cassidy as Lurch, Lisa Loring as Wednesday Addams and Ken Weatherwax as Pugsley Addams. Jason Momoa came close to death in surfing accident

The Aquaman actor was navigating Pe'ahi, the biggest surf break in Maui, which is nicknamed Jaws, during a lengthy paddle through Hawaiian waters in 2007 when his leg rope snapped amid high wind, though he was "fine" at first, despite the waves crashing down on him. The 46-year-old actor was eventually found by one of his surfing friends, but the journey back to shore wasn't easy. He said: "I get back on the board and we start paddling. He's like, 'You got to go out,' so we just keep paddling out." Currents stopped the pair going straight to the show and "brutal waves" meant they lost their boards. Jason continued: "I have seven more miles to paddle. My feet are covered in blood, and I'm just literally [with] my ancestors just paddling the rest of this way, head down, and we get out." The Chief of War actor - who has Lola, 18, and Nakoa-Wolf, 16 with ex-wife Lisa Bonet - eventually made it back to shore and instantly turned his back on his deadly smoking habit. He said: "I used to smoke two, three packs a day. I couldn't stop for my kids, I couldn't stop for my ex, I couldn't stop smoking. "And the moment I came out, I never smoked again. "Like, I just died. I tried and tried, but I couldn't do it again because I just gave up. Like, I gave up my life."
