'Snow White' Debuts as a Low-Earning Live-Action Remake for Disney at the Opening Weekend Box Office
Snow White is off to a sleepy start at the box office.
Disney's live-action remake of the 1937 animated classic debuted in theaters across North America on Friday, March 21, and earned $43 million during its opening weekend, according to Box Office Mojo.
The film is now one of the company's lowest-earning live-action remakes, per data from the website, which tracks box office news, analysis and data.
Snow White, which cost an estimated $270 million to craft, per Forbes, was estimated to bring in $48-$58 million in its first weekend. (The film has so far made $87.3 million internationally.)
Still, Snow White surpassed Black Bag, which earned $4.4 million, and fellow Disney movie, Captain America: Brave New World, which brought in $4.1 million.

Rachel Zegler plays the titular princess, while Gal Gadot is the Evil Queen in the film.
Plans to remake Snow White were first announced in 2016, and Zegler, 23, was cast in the lead role in June 2021, ahead of her film debut in West Side Story.
"Rachel's extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts. Her strength, intelligence and optimism will become an integral part of rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairytale," director Marc Webb said of Zegler's casting in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.
As for Gadot, 39, taking on the infamous Evil Queen, the actress previously told PEOPLE in November 2021, "I'm so excited and I cannot wait to get into the shoes and the crown of the Evil Queen."

Additional cast includes Ansu Kabia as the Huntsman, Patrick Page as the voice for the mystical Magic Mirror and Tony winner Andrew Burnap as Snow White's love interest, Jonathan.
Disney's reimagining of Snow White faced its fair share of backlash before being released in theaters.
Ahead of the movie's premiere, Zegler chalked up criticism over the live-action remake to "passion" for the film and its characters. While speaking with Vogue Mexico, the Spellbound actress said audiences feel protective over the famous princess as well as the original 1937 animated Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.
'I interpret people's feelings about this film as their passion for her and what an honor to be a part of something that people are so passionate about,' Zegler said in her interview. 'We are not always going to have the same feelings as everyone around us and all that we can do is do our best." (Zegler's interview was conducted in Spanish. Quotes were independently translated from Spanish to English by PEOPLE.)
Following her casting announcement in 2022, Zegler also dealt with racist backlash over her playing the Disney Princess while being of Latinx background. (Zegler is of Colombian and Polish descent.)
Snow White has also been called out by Peter Dinklage, who was born with a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia. He accused Disney of "hypocrisy" over the upcoming film, citing the fairy tale's "backwards story about seven dwarfs living in a cave together."
Snow White is in theaters now.

Season 7 of the hit Peacock series premieres tonight, June 3, and PEOPLE can exclusively reveal the first look at the Islanders' dramatic first night in the villa. The season will kick off with 10 total Islanders, five guys and five girls. Peacock announced the cast on May 29: Huda Mustafa, Olandria Carthen, Belle-A Walker, Yulissa Escobar and Chelley Bissainthe will be the first five girls in the Fiji villa, and are joined by Nicolas Vansteenberghe, Taylor Williams, Austin Shepard, Ace Green and Jeremiah Brown. In the first look teaser, the ladies are the first to arrive at the villa, and they pop a bottle of bubbly right away to get the good vibes going. Host Ariana Madix is next to arrive, and she asks if the girls are "ready to find your man," but Belle-A makes it clear she wants to "have a little fun too." Nicolas and Ace are the first boys to arrive, followed by cowboy Taylor, and then pool boy Austin and Jeremiah. "This can't be real life," Chelley says as the girls' excitement kicks in. Of course, there's a twist right off the bat. "This year, things are going to be a little bit different," Ariana teases. "Time to let your lips do the talking." Before coupling up, the Islanders get the chance to lock lips with any of the boys they've got their eye on, and some feelings are starting to form already. "I am not trying to be delusional," Olandria says. "But I am liking what I'm seeing so far." The kissing doesn't stop with night one, though. The following day, after five initial couples have been formed, Ariana returns to give the group a "chance to make a play for the person you maybe have a thing for, but haven't kissed yet." As one islander puts it, there's some "freak ass s--- going on" already in the Fiji villa. In the cast announcement released last week, all 10 Islanders shared more about themselves. Jeremiah described himself as an "emotional type of guy," as he admitted, "I really don't care if I cry in front of you." Ace called himself a "short king" who has "no problem talking to taller ladies," but will draw the line at being "little spoon." Pool boy Austin touted how "damn good" he looks "while cleaning a pool," and then came cowboy Taylor, who said he's looking for a "city girl" with a "big booty." Finally, daredevil Nicolas said he's "I'm down for anything" and "huge into extreme sports." As for the girls, Chelley admitted that she is going to judge her fellow Islanders based on their Zodiac signs, and Olandria said that "college football" is her "life." Belle-A was excited to share that she loves working in her family's coffee shop, and Huda declared herself ready to find her "lifelong partner." The final girl, Yulissa, revealed that she just got out of a "nine-year relationship," but she was "glad he broke my heart, because look at me here." Daniella Karagach Compares Robert Irwin to This Previous 'DWTS' Contestant Who 'Won Everyone's Hearts' (Exclusive)
Daniella Karagach has big hopes for Robert Irwin on this season of Dancing with the Stars The pro tells PEOPLE she's "sure he's going to be in the finals," and that he's going to have some major help as people are going to "fall in love with him" She also compares Irwin, 21, to another young celebrity contestant from last season who she says was "America's sweetheart"Robert Irwin is going to steal the people's hearts on Dancing with the Stars this season. At least, that's what Daniella Karagach is predicting. The 21-year-old Aussie, who was the first celebrity contestant confirmed for DWTS season 34, is "very sweet," Karagach tells PEOPLE, so much so that he reminds her of another young sweetheart contestant from last season. "I think he's great. I think he's exactly like Stephen [Nedoroscik]," she says. "He's America's sweetheart. People loved Stephen — he just won everyone's hearts, [he's] so, so kind. And I feel like Robert gives that same energy." Calling Irwin "very family-oriented" and "humble," Karagach, 32, says he's "just a good guy," which is why he reminded her of Nedoroscik, 26. "I think people are going to fall in love with him," she says of Irwin, who she predicts will make it to the championships this season. "He's going to do [well]. I mean, I'm sure he's going to be in the finals," she says. What gives her such faith in the conservationist? "I just feel like personality and popularity plays such a big part, so even if you're not the best dancer, I feel like if you're popular enough and people support you, you'll go really far," she says. Robert is following in his older sister Bindi's footsteps six years later as he joins this season of DWTS. Bindi competed with Derek Hough in 2015 and took home the mirrorball trophy, but Robert told PEOPLE there's "no sibling rivalry" between them. "It's actually really nice. She has just said, 'Go into this and make it your own.' She said it's going to be a completely different experience." "I'm definitely going to be leaning on her a lot, as I have throughout my entire life, to be honest,' he said. 'I think loss brings a family together like nothing else, and for us, for Bindi and myself, we've always had each other's backs through everything, and this is going to be no different. I feel very lucky that I've got her in my corner.' He also recalled cheering his older sister on in the ballroom as a "little 11-year-old kid with my little blonde bowl cut" when she competed a decade ago. 'Now Bindi is going to be there supporting me, and she'll have a lot more dance wisdom than 11-year-old Robert," he said. "I didn't have much to bring to the table, but she does. She's done it. She's won it!" Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. Other than Robert, influencer Alix Earle is the only other confirmed celebrity contestant for season 34. Read the original article on People

Rihanna Reveals She's Pregnant With Baby No. 3 With A$AP Rocky as She Arrives at the 2025 Met Gala
Rihanna revealed she is pregnant with baby No. 3 while heading to the 2025 Met Gala in a form-fitting outfit. The 'Diamonds' singer, 37, showed off her growing baby bump in photos obtained by People before arriving at the star-studded event, which was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, May 5. She later walked the red carpet several hours after the event started in a black tailored look and a large hat with her baby bump on full display. Rihanna is now expecting her third child with boyfriend A$AP Rocky (real name: Rakim Mayers). The couple currently share two sons, 2-year-old RZA Athelaston Mayers, born in May 2022, and 1-year-old Riot Rose Mayers, born in August 2023. A$Ap walked the red carpet earlier on in the night solo. The dress code for the 2025 Met Gala is "Tailored for You," which is a "nod to the exhibition's focus on suiting and menswear — from specific silhouettes to various fabrics and accessories — that is purposefully designed to both provide guidance and invite creative interpretation." Cochairs for this year's highly anticipated event include A$AP Rocky, 36, Oscar-nominated actor Colman Domingo, Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton and hitmaker Pharrell Williams, plus Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. Before stealing the show at this year's event with her big news, Rihanna previously spoke about how much she is enjoying motherhood. "It makes me feel really cool to be a boy mom," she told E! News at Fenty Beauty's Soft'Lit Naturally Luminous Longwear Foundation launch in April 2024. "Like I get to be as casual and busted as I want to, but it also forces me to embrace the epic things about being a woman, and a female and all my femininity. I embrace it so much more now, like I wear pink." She added, "I go between wearing jerseys and like, 'I'm wearing a dress today! I'm the only one in this house who can do that right now.'" The Barbadian bombshell said she's really embraced her role at home and it's empowered her in other ways. "It just kind of highlights about being a woman," she shared. "Because I'm the one that can experience all of that in the house — giving birth to them, carrying them, being a partner with Rocky and running the household and the family. It's new territory, but it's empowering." A source told In Touch that RiRi is continuing to expand her empire after launching Fenty Beauty and Savage X Fenty, a lingerie line, noting that she is well on her way to doubling her billion-dollar fortune. "Rihanna takes a very serious, thoughtful approach to each of her investments, she doesn't just slap her name on her brands, she's heavily involved in every step from the design to the marketing and the products," the insider dished. "There's a reason everything she touches seems to turn to gold. She does thorough research and due diligence and puts in the hours," spilled the source, revealing Rihanna is serious about investing her time and energy into her products. "She has an incredible sense of judgment, and her ventures, like her perfume line, are performing incredibly well. She's careful to time her launches right to ensure things are successful, she starts slow and steady before diving into a new project. Her existing brands are thriving, and she's now moving into new territories."
