Travis Kelce and brother Jason's boozy bet with each other at American Century Championship golf tournament

Daily Mail8 hours ago
Travis Kelce and brother Jason decided to shotgun a beer every time one of them three-putted during the opening round of the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe.
The famed celebrity golf tournament got underway on Friday with the Kelce brothers playing alongside fellow NFL legend Andrew Whitworth.
Neither Kelce brother played particularly well on day one and were sat 62nd and 83rd on the leaderboard of 90 players after their opening round.
But perhaps their erratic play could be explained by the fact that the brothers cooked up a wild bet with each other the night before - and their encounter with a terrifying killer.
Jason revealed to Access Hollywood before their first round that they would be downing beers if they struggled on the greens.
He said: 'Travis and I always have the side bets going for sure.
At least they're having a good time🤣 pic.twitter.com/58k1Nd3fBu

'I think right now, the bet today we talked about last night is every three putt, you got a shotgun a beer.
'So once you miss that first one, if you're left with a four or five footer, it's gonna be a little nerve wracking standing over that thing.'
Despite being a fierce competitor during his NFL career, Jason also explained that he was just there 'for the vibes'.
'That's what it's all about,' he continued.
'That's why everybody is here. Everybody's here to just have a good time. All these people are here mostly to have a good time. There's a handful of guys that actually expect to win this thing, but we all know who they are, and that's great.
'We're all here for the vibes. A lot of people come out here and lend their time to interact. So it'll be a good day. I love it.'
It was certainly an eventful day for the brothers after they also came in close contact with a black bear.
The scary incident, caught in photos taken by DailyMail.com, occurred as the high-profile NFL pair prepared to tee off on the 16th hole, when fans spotted the bear just behind the tee box.
Play was temporarily halted as fans took videos and photos of the animal, which was behind a fence but came close to spectators who were out in their thousands watching the golf tournament at Edgewood.
In a scary twist, the bear scare comes just days after one was euthanized just a few miles away after attacking a camper at a site in South Lake Tahoe.
The Kelce brothers were followed around by hundreds of fans all day with some of Taylor Swift's most loyal fans there with hopes of seeing the popstar.
Rumors circulated around Lake Tahoe that she would be turning up at some point but there was no sign of her during Friday's first round.
At the other end of the scoring charts, the tournament leaders are ice hockey legend Joe Pavelski, former NBA star Vinny del Negro, while Steph Curry is tied for third with ex-USMNT player Taylor Twellman.

Rory McIlroy washes away Masters slump to hunt down Scottish Open

Rory McIlroy is in the hunt for his fourth trophy of the season and what would surely be the perfect fillip going into the Open in his homeland next week. The world No 2 shot a four-under 66 to move to 11-under and into a share of the lead with Chris Gotterup at the Scottish Open. With no disrespect intended to the American, who fired a 70, his playing partner in the final round will be the overwhelming favourite to win this championship at the Renaissance Club near North Berwick for the second time in three years. At the very least, McIlroy has shown that after the struggles he endured in the wake of lifting the Masters title in April – and so becoming just the sixth man in history to complete the career grand slam – his focus is recovered and his game is resharpened. As if the hype will not be big enough anyway when he turns up at Royal Portrush on Monday – just an hour north of Holywood, the Belfast suburb where he was born and raised – if there is yet another piece of silverware in his locker then his return could blow off the clubhouse roof. There were five birdies and one bogey in testing conditions on the East Lothian links, and if his bunker shot on the 15th had not unluckily stayed above the ground after rattling the pin, he would have the outright advantage. Rory McIlroy gets rejected by the flagstick He's 1 back at the Scottish Open 🔥 — NUCLR GOLF (@NUCLRGOLF) July 12, 2025 However, McIlroy's driving still does not appear to be near its peerless best. Nevertheless, the 36-year-old has already proven in 2025 that he has what it takes to prevail with his 'B' game and after his two-week break – in which he and his young family moved into a new home in Wentworth – he feels ready for another garland. 'This is my first realistic chance to win since the Masters – and I've had a great season,' McIlroy said. 'I won [the AT&T Championship] at Pebble [Beach]. I won The Players and then, of course, at Augusta. I'd been dreaming my whole whole life to do that and it was a huge moment in my life, my career. And I think I just needed that little bit of time to actually digest all of it. l came to this tournament with renewed enthusiasm and excitement for the rest of the year.' There is a two-shot gap to the group in third comprising two Englishmen in Matt Fitzpatrick (69) and Marco Penge (69) and a pair of Americans in Wyndham Clark (66) and Jake Knapp (68). On six-under after a 69, Scottie Scheffler is still in some sort of contention, but the world No 1 will have to be at his finest to win his first tournament outside of America. 'Yeah, I'll need something pretty special tomorrow, but I'm not out of it,' Scheffler said. 'I feel a lot better about how I played today than I did the last couple days. On Thursday, I was scraping it around a bit – but my swing felt a lot sharper today. I was hitting the ball a lot more solid, so that's pretty encouraging.' With two victories at the Masters and his glory at the USPGA in May, the Open is the Texan's weakest major so far in his career. Scheffler boasts two top-threes in the US Open, but his best finish in Britain was seventh last year – and he was never genuinely in contention at Troon, labouring eight shots behind Xander Schauffele. At the Evian Championships in France – the fourth major of the female season – England's Cara Gainer shares the lead going into the final round, 11-under alongside Australian Gabriela Ruffels. The pair are one clear of a group in second including Ruffels' countryman Minjee Lee and Thai Jeeno Thitikul. After a third-round 64 this could be a career-defining Sunday for Gainer, the world No 129. The 29-year-old from Oxford is only playing in her second major, but she did break her duck earlier this year on the Ladies European Tour in Morocco. 'I have good feelings and good vibes in this amazing beautiful place,' Gainer said
