Joey King in Talks to Star in "Practical Magic 2"
Joey King is in negotiations to star in 'Practical Magic 2' alongside Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman.
If the deal closes, King will play the daughter of Bullock's character. Bullock and Kidman are reprising their roles as Sally and Gillian Owens, two sisters who descend from a long line of witches.
In the original 1998 movie, the duo finds themselves fighting off a curse that kills the men they fall in love with.
While plot details for the second film haven't been revealed, sources say the story is based on a later installment in Alice Hoffman's 'Practical Magic' book series.
Susanne Bier is directing 'Practical Magic 2' from a screenplay by Akiva Goldsman, who co-wrote the first film. It's aiming to start production in London later this summer. Warner Bros. will release the witchy sequel in theaters on September 18, 2026.
In a recent conversation with
Variety
, Kidman said that she's seen the script but doesn't expect to begin filming 'for a while.' But what's a few more weeks or months, at this point? The Oscar-winning actress revealed she's been waiting nearly 30 years for the follow-up to 'Practical Magic.'
'When we were making it, we definitely [thought about a sequel],' she said. 'We're so excited. We put out our spell already.'
Kidman's referring to the
teaser
that Warner Bros. released earlier in May. The clip featured a voiceover from Bullock and Kidman, who chant the following incantation: 'Tooth of wolf and morning dew. Something old and something new. Let the spell begin to mix. Sept. 18, 2026.'
King is best known for Netflix's 'The Kissing Booth' franchise, as well as Hulu's true-crime series 'The Act,' which earned her an Emmy nomination.
The 25-year-old actress' other major credits include 'Despicable Me 4,' David Leitch's action-comedy 'Bullet Train,' Christopher Nolan's 'The Dark Knight Rises,' and 'Crazy Stupid Love.'

The Warrens Face Their First Demon and Annabelle in "Conjuring: Last Rites" Final Trailer
Yara Sameh The final trailer has been unveiled for the last Conjuring film, and it sees the Warrens facing a familiar demon. Following the first trailer, which was released in May, Warner Bros. dropped the new and final trailer for "The Conjuring: Last Rites" on Thursday. The fourth Conjuring entry follows Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) as they take on the Smurl case, which involved a family that was tormented by a demon for more than a decade, inspired by a true story. In the trailer, the demon was one the Warrens had previously encountered. 'There's something in the attic. Ed, there's an evil here. Something I've felt before,' Lorraine says. 'This thing in your house is a demon. It's the first one that we've ever encountered. We were young. We were scared. We ran away. And after all these years, it wasn't done with our family.' Moreover, a blink and you miss it, but the Annabelle doll also appears in the footage and toward the end, Lorraine is chased by what appears to be a possessed man while Ed is trying to rescue her. Annabelle was introduced in the Conjuring universe in the first film of the same name, which was directed by James Wan and released in 2013. The haunted doll appeared in more of the franchise's films, including the spinoffs "Annabelle" (2014), "Annabelle: Creation" (2017), and "Annabelle Comes Home" (2019). Mia Tomlinson plays Judy Warren, Ed and Lorraine Warren's daughter and Ben Hardy, who plays her boyfriend (now husband), Tony Spera. Steve Coulter, Elliot Cowan, Rebecca Calder, Kíla Lord Cassidy, Beau Gadsdon, Shannon Kook, and John Brotherton round out the cast. Michael Chaves returns to direct the entry. Wan and Peter Safran also return as producers. Ian Goldberg, Richard Naing and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick wrote the script. "Hostel" TV Series Finds Streaming Home
Yara Sameh The 'Hostel' TV series has found a home at Peacock. The TV extension of the horror film franchise is currently in development at the NBCUniversal streamer. The reimagining was previously reported to be in the works in June 2024, but no platform was attached at that time. As originally reported, Paul Giamatti is attached to star in the series, with 'Hostel' mastermind Eli Roth set to write, direct, and executive produce. Chris Briggs and Mike Fleiss, who have produced all the 'Hostel' films, are also executive producers. Fifth Season is the studio. Exact plot details are being kept under wraps. In the 'Hostel' franchise, innocent tourists are kidnapped by a mysterious group known as the Elite Hunting Club operating out of Eastern Europe, with the group's rich clientele paying to torture and murder the tourists. The first film was released in theaters in 2006, with Roth writing, directing, and producing. Roth also wrote, directed, and produced 'Hostel: Part II' in 2007. A third film was released direct to video in 2011, though Roth was not involved in the production. Collectively, the first two films in the franchise grossed nearly $120 million globally despite costing just $4.8 million and $10.2 million respectively to produce. Giamatti is one of the finest actors of his generation. He is a two-time Oscar nominee — first for 'Cinderella Man' and then for 'The Holdovers.' He is also a six-time Golden Globe nominee, winning the award for his work in the HBO series 'John Adams' as well as for the films 'Barney's Vision' and 'The Holdovers.' George Wassouf to Perform Live in Lebanon on August 8
Yara Sameh Iconic Syrian singer George Wassouf will perform live at the 12th edition of the Ehmej Festival in Lebanon, on Friday, August 8. He is set to present several of his popular and latest songs. Wassouf, who was born on December 23, 1961, has a significantly large audience of fans in the Arab world and abroad. He began singing at the age of 10 in his hometown Kafroun and was discovered two years later by his first manager and producer George Yazbeck at a wedding. At the age of 19, the singer became famous after appearing on the Lebanese show 'Studio El Fan' in 1980. He is one of the most successful Arab singers selling over 60 million records worldwide.
