Kaizer Chiefs chase teenage prodigy striker
Perhaps a new strategy of looking at younger players might bear fruit.
Cape Town Spurs striker Luke Baartman could be available on a cut-price deal.
SEVEN arrivals, TWO big surprises coming?
With Cape Town Spurs now in the third tier of South African football, Chiefs believe this is the time to pounce for Asanele Velebayi and Luke Baartman. Chiefs believed that targets Luke Baartman and Asanele Velebayi were no longer contractually tied to the Mother City outfit Cape Town Spurs. This, after Spurs' relegation from the Motsepe Foundation Championship to the amateur ABC Motsepe League.
'It's believed Chiefs are willing to pay more than the required amount by FIFA, as a sign of appreciation to Spurs. They are looking at paying around R5 million for both players,' a local source revealed.

22-year-old winger Velebayi made 23 appearances in the 2023-2024 Betway Premiership season. Striker Baartman, still just 19, made nine league appearances in the same season, scoring twice. Baartman has a massive ceiling and wouldn't represent an enormous financial risk in terms of outlay.

'First of all, I want to say give love to everybody, bring the human being on the table. It is important to put trust on the table and not the playing role as a coach. 'I think the dynamics and the size of the club, the number of competitions that the club will play and the love that the coach is giving can help to keep everybody happy,' concluded the 46-year-old Orlando Pirates mentor.
