Lionsgate's 50 Cent Action Becomes No. 1 Action Channel On Roku & LG Channels
50 Cent Action first debuted with an exclusive launch on Roku, where it quickly became the most-watched action channel on The Roku Channel in Q1. Its recent rollout on LG Channels has already achieved the same milestone—cementing the channel's appeal and momentum across the FAST space.

In addition, 50 Cent Action also went live on Vizio's WatchFree+ and Sling TV's Sling Freestream today.
50 Cent Action is one of the first talent-branded FAST channels. Jackson will be front and center at LG Ad Solution's NewFronts presentation on Monday, May 5, where he will appear for a live Q&A with the company's CEO Michael Hudes to discuss the successful growth of the channel and what's coming next.

I'm hands on with everything and collaborating closely with Lionsgate – which has been a great partner – to give fans free, direct access to the best action movies and shows out there, all in one place. Fans can step into my world every time they turn on the channel.'

The channel features 50 Cent's favorite premium films and television series drawn from Lionsgate's 20K-title library, including box office hits like The Expendables, Rambo and Den of Thieves, offering up to 1,000 movies including exclusive films and series viewers can't find on other FAST channels. The channel also includes the hugely successful original television series Power which spawned the Power Universe. Lionsgate has aired themed programming stunts around 50 Cent's multiple #1 albums that lend themselves perfectly to the action genre and the studio will soon debut brand new stunts inspired by the hit tracks Many Men (Wish Death) and Behind da Bars. 50 Cent Action will also offer viewers a massive Memorial Day Weekend marathon featuring fan favorites like Now You See Me 1 and 2, the first two installments of Lionsgate's blockbuster $670 million Now You See Me franchise. Don't look now, but Roku's got its own streaming service
Adam Birney / Android Authority TL;DR Roku is launching Howdy, a $3/month streaming service. The ad-free offering debuts with content from Lionsgate, Warner Bros. Discovery, FilmRise, and Roku Originals. Viewers can stream through Roku hardware or with the company's Android app. It's painfully clear by now that streaming is not going to fix the ills of cable TV — and, if anything, it's only managed to introduce new headaches. At least back in the day you could just subscribe to your local provider and be reasonably assured you were getting everything you could. Now, staying on top of all the latest releases means juggling half a dozen different subscriptions, not to mention that your old favorites are liable to jump services at a moment's notice. We wish this were building up to us announcing some novel solution, but nope — we're just getting yet another streaming service. Maybe the good news here is that this one sounds pretty low stakes. We're talking about Howdy, a new subscription offering from Roku. Let's start with the good: Howdy will only cost you $3 a month, and even at that low price, Roku's offering it ad-free. This isn't an introductory deal or any kind of limited promo, and even with a price that matches the best we see from other streamers on Black Friday (and even then, usually with ad-supported plans), it sure sounds like Roku intends to keep Howdy this affordable going forward. You can probably already see the flip side coming, and that's the content. While Roku brands Howdy as offering 'almost everything you want to watch,' it's not launching with any real standout titles, instead offering a selection of shows and movies from the catalogs of Lionsgate, Warner Bros. Discovery, FilmRise, and of course some Roku Originals. While there's definitely some good stuff in there, and you can probably find something worth losing a few hours to, it's also fair to say that Howdy's lineup feels quite a bit weaker than its pricier peers. But like we said, this is low stakes, and it should easily be worth paying $3 for one month and seeing if Howdy's for you. There's no free trial or anything, but at this price, and with no long-term subscription commitment, who cares? If you're curious about checking Howdy out, the service is supported on Roku hardware, of course, or through the Roku app on your mobile device. If you're the sort of viewer for whom Pluto feels 'good enough' but you wouldn't mind paying a small premium for no ads, Howdy could be right up your alley. Follow

Roku's new Howdy service offers ad-free streaming for $3 per month
Roku just revealed a new ad-free streaming service called Howdy . The service costs $3 per month, making it an enticing prospect for budget-conscious viewers. The company says this isn't an introductory price and should be permanent. Howdy will stream a whole bunch of content, but it's mostly pre-existing movies and shows. The company has inked deals with Warner Bros. Discovery, Lionsgate and other providers, so the platform will host movies like Elvis and Mad Max: Fury Road and shows like Weeds and Party Down . It'll also be home to Roku Originals, like the stellar Weird Al "biopic." Company founder and CEO Anthony Wood spoke to Deadline and called Howdy "a response to the reality that many consumers are interested in a service that is ad-free and low-cost." He may be right. Consumers are likely to flock to something that's $3 a month, especially when the other streamers keep raising prices and stuffing ads everywhere . This isn't Roku's only recent foray into the world of paid streaming, after years of relying on free, ad-supported television (FAST) channels. The company acquired the service Frdnly , which streams live TV from a number of noteworthy cable channels. Prices for this platform range from $7 to $10 per month. Howdy will be available later today on Roku devices. The company promises a "rollout on mobile and additional platforms in the near future."
