Lindsay Lohan's father Michael's VERY troubled past from insider trading to domestic violence - all of his brushes with the law following his recent arrest as the actresses rises back to the top

Daily Mail24-04-2025
Despite her controversial past which has included a DUI conviction and drug possession charge, Lindsay Lohan has made a return to the top of her game with several glossy Netflix films to her name and a stunning glow up.
However, sadly the same cannot be said for her troubled father Michael, 64, who has just been jailed for violating his probation weeks after an arrest warrant was issued for allegedly assaulting his estranged wife.
Former Wall Street trader Michael's chequered past has been well documented ever since his daughter Lindsay rose to prominence as a child star in the nineties, most notably in a dual role in 1998 cult hit, The Parent Trap.
Michael, who is a father of six, was investigated in the early nineties for insider trading and convicted of criminal contempt of court, for which he served three years in jail in Nassau County before being released in 1993 on five years probation.
The former alcohol and drug addict, who claims he got clean when Lindsay was born, was in prison when his daughter began modelling and starring in commercials when she was signed by the Ford Models agency.
Michael's next brush with the law was in 1997 when he violated his probation after flying to Napa, California, where Lindsay had been hospitalized following an asthma attack which happened while she was filming The Parent Trap.
After breaking the rules of his probation, he was forced to serve another year behind bars as punishment. The violation occurred because he was not permitted to travel out of state at the time.
In the years that followed, Lindsay's star only grew as she took on roles in Disney film Get A Clue and blockbuster hit Freaky Friday where she starred alongside Hollywood legend Jamie Lee Curtis.
But according to reports as Lindsay's celebrity increased, so did the tensions in the Lohan family, which resulted in an attempted assault charge for Michael.
He was involved in a fistfight outside the family home in Long Island with his wife Dina's brother, Matt Sullivan, during a first communion party for his son Dakota on May 23 2004.
While he was awaiting sentencing for the charge, Michael's luck went from bad to worst when he was involved in a car crash where he was later charged with alcohol and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
A month later, Michael was arrested again on June 29 after leaving a Long Island hotel without paying a $3,8000 bill where he had rented several suites.
Michael also faced assault charges for allegedly punching a sanitation worker in the face because his truck was blocking his car.
While in prison after this time period, Michael is said to have taken up singing and songwriting as well as courses in a faith-based sobriety program.
Michael and Lindsay's mother separated in 2004 and the following year a spokesperson for Dina confirmed she had filed for divorce.
The TV personality spent two and a half years in the Collins Correctional Facility and was released from prison in March 2007.
Following his prison release, Michael lived in a Teen Challenge center in West Babylon, New York, and began his training to become a minister of the church.
Working within the Long Island Teen Challenge rehabilitation program, Michael acted as a counsellor for those struggling with addiction.
Around the same time, Michael also appeared on his own show, dubbed the Michael Lohan Reality Project, which was a 2007 series which followed his efforts to reconnect with Lindsay and the rest of his family.
Following the breakdown of his marriage to Dina, Michael met his second wife Kate Major, who he announced his engagement to in April 2010.
However, the following year in October 2011, Michael was arrested in Tampa, Florida, on suspicion of domestic violence involving Kate.
He was released on a $5,000 bail bond and ordered to have no contact with Kate, but he was arrested weeks later for contacting her via phone.
In April 2021, Michael was arrested in a 'patient brokering' scheme for allegedly bringing drug addicts into rehab clinics in exchange for $27,000 in illegal kickbacks.
He was taken into custody in Palm Beach, Florida, on five counts of patient brokering and one count of attempted patient brokering.
He was among the 100 people who have been arrested so far as part of a state-wide investigation into patient brokering in rehab treatment centres across Florida.
Lohan, who is listed as the president of Lola Recovery Ventures, has been accused of bringing drug addicts to treatment centers in exchange for illegal kickbacks.
At least nine checks totaling $27,750 were made out to Lohan, Lola Recovery or Lola Recovery Ventures, in 2017 and 2018, according to court documents.
He was later convicted and in June 2022 sentenced to four years of probation. In March 2025, Lohan would be arrested for violating this probation.
This week, Michael was jailed for violating his probation weeks after an arrest warrant was issued for allegedly assaulting his estranged wife.
Michael was arrested in Palm Beach, Florida last month for violating probation and was ordered to serve nine months in jail when he appeared in court, per TMZ.
Michael will receive credit for 38 days served but the sentence may see him spend the remainder of 2025 behind bars.
Sources told TMZ he pled guilty to violating his probation in connection with his February arrest in Texas on a 'continuous violence against the family' felony assault charge for allegedly beating up estranged wife Kate.
Following the breach last month, authorities issued an arrest warrant for Michael linked to his probation from a 2022 conviction in Palm Beach, Florida in connection with pocketing money for steering patients toward a specific rehab facility.
On the same day her father's sentencing emerged, actress Lindsay, took to Instagram to share snaps of her son Luai, 21 months and husband Bader Shammas, as well as snaps from her promo tour for new film, Freakier Friday.
Kate, who was the complainant, contacted authorities after she noticed Michael in the parking lot of a medical building, a spokesperson for the Harris County Sherriff's Department told Dailymail.com February 23.
Michael previously told the outlet that he felt Kate had been 'setting him up' to get arrested, as she had 'physically and verbally abused him' prior to his arrest.
Michael told the outlet: 'Kate has been threatening to get me violated on probation for a long time. She used these false charges here in Texas to do so. '
In the February 21 incident, Kate placed a 911 call reporting that 'she was concerned [Michael] was following her,' authorities said, leading deputies to respond.
Kate told deputies that Michael had 'flipped' her out of a chair at their residence a few days earlier, officials said.
Kate, who has past had a series of legal incidents with her estranged spouse, told authorities that 'she felt pain and discomfort' as result of his attack on her.
Officials said that Kate, who is mother to two young sons with Michael, showed a female deputy 'the bruising' on her body as result of the attack.
Deputies subsequently made contact with Michael, who 'was arrested without incident at his residence,' officials said. Michael Lohan was 'being held on a charge of Continuous Family Violence and a $30,000 bond,' officials told Dailymail.com.
The former couple parted in September 2018 when Major said in a court filing in Florida that the marital union had been 'irretrievably broken,' requesting primary custody of their sons in addition to child support and alimony.
Michael is father to two sons with Major - Landon, 12, and Logan, 10. Michael is also father to four children with ex-wife Dina Lohan, 62: Lindsay, 38, Michael Jr., 36, Aliana, 31, and Dakota, 28.
Michael and Kate, a one-time entertainment journalist, wed in October 2014 in Hillsboro Beach, Florida, but Lindsay did not attend the nuptials.
They parted in September 2018 when Major said in a court filing in Florida that the marital union had been 'irretrievably broken,' requesting primary custody of their sons in addition to child support and alimony.
The incident comes nearly eight months after the ex-couple were involved in a roadside skirmish in Spring, Texas on June 26, 2024 in which Michael contacted the authorities.

Kate shared a clip in which she was in a driver's seat while arguing with Michael, in a conflict in which no charges were ultimately filed, according to the outlet.
'Get out of the car, I just spoke with your lawyer,' Michael was seen yelling at Major, who urged him to step out of the road.
Kate called her ex a 'psychopath' noting that he was 'calling the f***ing cops.'
Kate was heard saying, 'These poor kids, these poor children,' then telling Michael, 'You're out of your f***ing mind.'
After an officer appeared on the scene, Kate said that Michael had been following her, jumped in front of her car and needed to be taken in on a 5150 evaluation. The clip ended with Major communicating with the officer.
Kate said: 'Oh my God, oh my f***ing God, I didn't even get out of the driveway.'
Michael explained the factors involved in the tense discussion to TMZ, saying that he had let Kate stay at his home while he and his children were not in town.
Michael told the outlet that amid an active 'order of protection' against Kate she was told by both him and the district attorney to vacate the premises by 5pm.
Michael said that Kate 'took his car, which she was not supposed to do,' at around 6pm, according to the outlet.
Michael told TMZ that Kate had been consuming alcohol with guests she invited over to his house, and claimed that he did damage to the security system he has in place.
Michael said that he and Kate had an argument concerning her drinking habit, but didn't notify authorities at the time.
Michael and Kate are still legally married, the outlet reported last summer, noting that 'they've been estranged for a few years now.'

Friends star Lisa Kudrow goes viral over resurfaced impression of far-right MAGA spokesperson

had fans in stitches after her appearance in 2020 political mockumentary resurfaced on social media in recent days. The 62-year-old Friends star went viral after a clip in which she parodies a right-wing 'non-official spokesperson' for President Donald Trump's MAGA movement started making the rounds again on social media. The clip was from the Netflix special Death To 2020, which was produced by Black Mirror creator Charlie Booker — who also wrote the film — and his regular collaborator Annabel Jones. On X (formerly Twitter), commenters — many of whom appeared to have liberal politics — were simultaneously delighted and infuriated by what they saw as similarities between Kudrow's over-the-top defenses of the first Trump administration's scandals and the real flak that Trump's current White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, deflects on a daily basis. They praised her 'perfect impersonation' of an influential MAGA figure in the replies, with many users finding major parallels between her and real-life right-wing figures over their allegedly slippery grasp of the truth. Kudrow's spokeswoman, the fictional Jeanetta Grace Susan, was seen in a clip seemingly meant to take place in Washington, DC, as she defended Trump against his multiple impeachments. 'The whole impeachment thing was baseless, OK,' Kudrow says in character. 'So the Democrats claim that Trump pressured Ukraine into digging up dirt on the Biden family and their only real "evidence" of that is the transcript of him doing it,' she adds on a particularly ridiculous note as documents referencing Trump's attempts to get Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to investigate Joe Biden ahead of the 2020 election. Kudrow digs in shamelessly when the unseen British interviewer asked her to say more about the 'transcript' she had mentioned. 'What transcript?' she replies. When the interviewer reminders her that she just mentioned a transcript, she shoots back, 'Check your tape. I said no such thing.' Then Kudrow scoffs as the interviewer began reading back what she had just said about Ukraine, before doubling down and interjecting, 'There's no such place as Ukraine.' 'Yes, there is,' he replies in shock, but the spokeswoman shoots back, 'I choose to believe there is not.' Several viewers in the replies saw in Kudrow a shocking resemblance to Leavitt, both physically and in her defensive tone, though Leavitt wasn't working as the White House Press Secretary until the second Trump administration, years after the Netflix special was released. Kudrow digs in shamelessly when the unseen British interviewer asked her to say more about the 'transcript' she had mentioned. 'What transcript?' she replies, before denying she ever mentioned a transcript and then claiming that she doesn't believe in Ukraine One viewer praised the clip as 'freaking awesome' and said that Kudrow's performance as a fake PR specialist was 'probably the best thing I've seen since Tina Fey did Sarah Palin' on Saturday Night Live Other posters praised the clip as 'brilliant,' 'on point' and 'perfect' Another viewers said they had 'given up' on trying to reason with Trump's most vocal fans, which they seemed to think the clip effectively illustrated 'This is GREAT! Kudrow perfectly captured the Karoline Leavitt person — right down to the long bond hair and vapid smile,' wrote one user who felt there was a strong similarity. One viewer praised the clip as 'freaking awesome' and said that Kudrow's performance as a fake PR specialist was 'probably the best thing I've seen since Tina Fey did Sarah Palin' on Saturday Night Live. Other posters praised the clip as 'brilliant,' 'on point' and 'perfect.' One user complained that Americans were forced to 'literally listen to this everyday.' 'MAGA believe and stake their lives on memes, but call any reporting or data into question and often see document records as a compelling reason to believe the opposite of what they indicate,' they added. Another viewers said they had 'given up' on trying to reason with Trump's most vocal fans, which they seemed to think the clip effectively illustrated. 'I don't know what is up in their heads, but it is not brains or the gift of reason,' they seethed. 'I am beginning to believe that they are not just stupid and ignorant, but they just do not take in any information that is going to challenge their current mindset.'

Beyonce is now halfway to earning EGOT status after surprise award win

Beyonce is now halfway to coveted EGOT status after earning a milestone win this week. Over the course of her nearly 30-year career, the superstar, 43, has won a historic 35 Grammy Awards — the most ever for a recording artist or group. And on Tuesday, it was revealed that Beyonce has finally earned her first-ever Emmy Award after 12 nominations. The mother-of-three and the team behind Netflix 's Beyonce Bowl special, which aired in December 2024, won in the Outstanding Costumes for Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Programming category, according to E! Online. Also sharing in the Emmy glory is Beyonce Bowl costume designer, Shiona Turini, as well as the show's costume supervisor, Chelsea Staebell, head of workroom, Timothy White, and assistant costume designers, Erica Rice and Molly Peters. The honor will be awarded to Beyonce and her team during the 2025 Creative Arts Emmys, which will occur one week prior to the Primetime Emmy Awards, on Sunday, September 7 in Los Angeles. Beyonce still has a chance to take home two more Emmys as Beyonce Bowl is also up for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special, which will be announced at the Creative Arts Emmys, and Outstanding Variety Special, which is a Primetime Emmy Awards category. Beyonce Bowl — officially advertised as the NFL 2024 Christmas Day Halftime Show — premiered live on Netflix on December 25, 2024 during the game between the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans. It was held at NRG Stadium in Beyonce's hometown of Houston, Texas. Produced by Beyonce's Parkwood Entertainment, the 13-minute show saw Beyonce perform numerous hits off her controversial, Grammy Award-winning country album, Cowboy Carter, which was released in April 2024. The star was accompanied by 500 performers, including rappers Shaboozey, Post Malone and Beyonce's eldest daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, 13. According to Netflix, Beyonce Bowl drew in over 27 million viewers in the United States. Beyonce's costume for the show reflected her Cowboy Carter aesthetic, which is an homage to her Texas roots as well as Black Southern history and rodeo culture. She modeled a custom white cowboy hat, which was styled with a matching glitzy white bodysuit and chaps. Beyonce Bowl premiered live on Netflix on December 25, 2024 during the game between the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans; Beyonce seen during the 2024 halftime concert Beyonce's look was just one of 'over 400 carefully curated costumes' made for the Netflix special, according to costume designer Shiona Turini. Turini called Beyonce Bowl a 'historic moment' in an Instagram post shared last year and added that she was 'forever grateful to be a part of this iconic performance.' Since 2013 Beyonce has earned 12 Emmy nominations for her acclaimed forays into visual media. She first was nominated for her Super Bowl XLVII Halftime Show at the 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards before earning nods for On the Run Tour: Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Lemonade and Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé in the years that followed. In 2022, she receoved a Dayime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Original Song for a Series for her mother Tina Knowles' show, Talks with Mama Tina. Earlier this year, Beyonce earned her first Sports Emmy nomination for Outstanding Opening/Tease for Beyoncé: Meet Team USA. Despite being an experienced actress — having starred in the Austin Powers franchise and in the acclaimed 2006 musical Dreamgirls — Beyonce didn't earn an Oscar nomination until 2022. She was nominated in the Best Original Song category for 'Be Alive' from the Will Smith-led biopic King Richard. As of 2025, Beyonce has yet to make her mark in the Broadway world despite having both singing and acting talent. However, her Destiny's Child bandmate Michelle Williams recently made a splash on Broadway in the stage adaptation of Death Becomes Her. News of Beyonce's Emmy win comes just weeks after she wrapped her record-breaking Cowboy Carter tour. The star's final show was held at Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium on July 26 and featured a surprise appearance from her longtime husband, Jay-Z. She brought him out to perform his rap verse in their classic 2003 hit Crazy in Love. Beyonce stepped aside during the hit song for Jay-Z to perform, before strutting up to him to share a sweet kiss in front of 90,000 fans. Elsewhere during the final Vegas gig, Beyonce reunited with her Destiny's Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams for a medley of 2000s hits, Bootylicious and Lose My Breath. The performance sent die-hard fans into a frenzy, with many declaring it the 'perfect ending' to Beyonce's tour. However, the 32-date stadium tour was plagued with a string of incidents from poor ticket sales, on-stage tech malfunctions to choreography issues. Fans feared for Beyonce's safety during her hometown show in Houston, Texas on June 29 when the red convertible she rides high above the crowd on during her performance of 16 Carriages tilted dangerously, threatening to throw the Cowboy Carter singer off the car and into the audience. Despite the scare, Beyonce returned to the main stage and finished the performance like the consummate professional she is. After the show, the superstar's team released a statement addressing the incident. 'Tonight in Houston, at NRG Stadium, a technical mishap caused the flying car, a prop Beyoncé uses to circle the stadium, and see her fans up close, to tilt. 'She was quickly lowered and no one was injured. The show continued without incident,' Parkwood Entertainment said.
