Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren team up in The Thursday Murder Club trailer
The adaptation, based on the book series by game show host and author Osman, follows four retirees, played by Dame Helen, former James Bond actor Brosnan, Celia Imrie, and Sir Ben Kingsley, who spend their time solving historic murders.
In the trailer a woman's body can be seen flying out of a window with a knife in her chest, as the crime solving group stand around a board of evidence before being interrupted by a woman who asks 'isn't this room normally reserved for jigsaws', 'not on a Thursday, no', Dame Helen's character replies.
Later in the clip, Imrie's character can be heard saying: 'There's been a murder, an actual murder, now we've got a real cast to solve, isn't it wonderful? Obviously RIP and all that.'
In later shots, Dame Helen can be seen racing through the streets in a silver sports car, and being approached by a figure in the shadows.
Dame Helen, 79, and Brosnan, 71, recently starred alongside one another as husband and wife in Ronan Bennett's series MobLand, also starring Tom Hardy.
The film is directed by Harry Potter producer Christopher Columbus and follows the characters, who usually focus on cold cases, as an unexplained death leads to them taking on a whodunnit case.
The cast also includes Richard E Grant, Tom Ellis, David Tennant, Sir Jonathan Pryce, Daniel Mays and Henry Lloyd-Hughes.
After it was released in September 2023, Osman's fourth instalment in The Thursday Murder Club book series, The Last Devil To Die, achieved platinum status.
His follow-up book is called The Impossible Fortune and is set for release in September.
The Thursday Murder Club will launch on August 28 exclusively on Netflix.

Adolescence star Owen Cooper makes blunt jibe about 'terrible' US icons
Owen Cooper, the 15-year-old who was lauded for his leading role in Netflix drama Adolescence, appeared on The Tonight Show on Tuesday - and shocked Jimmy Fallon Adolescence actor Owen Cooper branded the US's sweets and chocolates as "just terrible" this week. Speaking on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the young star slated the confectionery and even brought a basket of US treats in a bid to prove his point. Owen, 15, said: "One thing I hate about America - the chocolate and the sweets, everything is just terrible. It's just Cheetos and all that nonsense. Honestly, I hate it." Jimmy had asked the teenager what he didn't like about America as Owen has spent some time there promoting the Netflix drama, a second series of which is currently in talks. After his honest jibe, Owen lifted the basket to show the host his favourite sweets, which include Maltesers. They were first sold in the UK in 1937. "Have you ever had a Malteser? Right - I'll bring the whole basket up. So this is what I brought [Monster Munch, Maltesers and Fruit Pastilles]", Owen said in the interview on NBC. The teen, from Warrington, Cheshire, insisted the brands were better than most American sweets. However, the US has a long history of making iconic confectionery labels, a market there valued at $83.54 billion (£60 billion) in 2024. In the late 19th century, sweets were made by hand in small batches and sold in local shops across the US. Then, the Hershey Chocolate Company - launched in 1894 - introduced the world to the first mass-produced milk chocolate bar. Following the Second World War, confectionery was frequently imported to the UK and elsewhere. But Owen's view is mirrored by his fans online, who left messages on social media. One posted: "Maltesers, Minstrels and beef Minichips are the perfect cinema snacks. Heaven. Can't get anything remotely close in the US." Another, seemingly an American, shared: "He's absolutely correct. The candy, chips etc over here are atrocious. Garbage compared to Europe's." A third said: "He is spot on actually." Later in the interview, Owen also revealed the huge Hollywood star that has praised his work recently. The actor said Leonardo DiCaprio left him a video message when he was with his onscreen dad Stephen Graham. Owen said: "Stephen Graham sent me a video yesterday and it's Leonardo DiCaprio sat next to him and he was saying 'Hey Owen, I'm such a big fan of Adolescence.'... I was like 'What!'" Owen was widely praised for his leading role in the Netflix drama, but he had no huge acting experience prior to the gig. Instead, one of his big interests growing up was music, so much so he was nicknamed "my mini Harry Styles" by mum Noreen, who is a carer. Neighbours in the Warrington suburb stress the family are keen to remain modest. Owen, who enjoys playing football for his youth side, lives with Noreen, 44-year-old dad Andy, who works in IT, and older brother Ollie. Ollie and Owen have older half-brother Connor, who, like Ollie, is an electrician.

PS5 State Of Play: Everything announced from Nioh 3 to Pragmata
Sony's State Of Play may have lacked first-party games but there were plenty of surprises, between a new Lumines and a remaster of Final Fantasy Tactics. While State Of Play presentations are usually headlined by a first-party title from Sony, the company's latest showcase took a different approach. Some titles from PlayStation Studios got a mention, between a brief look at Ghost of Yōtei and new levels in Astro Bot, but the big closing moment belonged to Sony's collaboration with Guilty Gear creators Arc System Works on a new Marvel fighting game. While it is technically a PlayStation Studios production, it's not exactly the new God Of War spin-off some expected. Elsewhere, the other big reveal was perhaps the new James Bond game from Hitman developer IO Interactive, with a youthful, fresh-faced 007. It may have lacked a surprise from one of Sony's big names, but the rest of the presentation was filled with some pretty great announcements. You can check out a rundown of the highlights below. The creators behind Tetris Effect and Rez Infinite opened the show with another entry in the Lumines puzzle game series, titled Lumines Arise. The game is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 and PC in autumn 2025, with optional PSVR2 and PC VR support. A free single-player and multiplayer demo is planned for the summer. This is the first entry in the series since 2018's Lumines Remastered, which was also developed by Enhance Games. Capcom's sci-fi action title was originally unveiled back in 2020, but it was delayed indefinitely in 2023. Two years later, however, and it's reappeared in pretty promising shape. The gameplay looks somewhere between Vanquish and Astral Chain, with a promised 'two-in-one twist of action and strategy' as a young girl named Dianna sits on your back and throws out assist attacks during battles. It's set to be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2026. Japanese developer Goichi Suda, aka Suda51, revealed his new 'ultra-violent science-fiction' game, Romeo Is A Dead Man. The opening of the trailer sports a cel-shaded comic book style, but the gameplay appears to be more visually grounded, albeit with the bloody spectacle you'd expect from the creator of No More Heroes. You play as Romeo Stargazer, an FBI investigator who hunts wanted criminals across space. The game is set to launch in 2026 on PlayStation 5. Konami's next mainline instalment in the Silent Hill franchise, Silent Hill f, received a creepy new trailer, which showed off some of the spectacularly messed up monster designs. The trailer also confirmed a September 25, 2025 release date across PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. It might be just before the Halloween season, but this looks set to haunt you for weeks. This long-rumoured remaster was finally revealed, with the name of Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles. This is a remaster of the original PlayStation game from 1997, which wasn't released in Europe until the 2007 PSP port, The War Of The Lions. This includes the original game with the War Of The Lions translation, along with a new enhanced version with fully voiced dialogue, a renewed interface, and other improvements. It's set to be released on September 30, 2025 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The Bloodstained saga continues with this new 2.5D side-scrolling action role-player, which is set in the same world as Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night. The new Ethereal Castle map is described as being the largest yet, and the gameplay hinges around swapping between the two protagonists, Alex and Leo. While you directly control one, the other assists in combat, and you can switch between the two at the press of a button. Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement is set to launch in 2026 on PlayStation 5. Digital Eclipse, the studio known for retro gaming compilations like Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration, are back with a new Mortal Kombat retrospective. The collection boasts over 20 different playable versions of the classic games, across arcade, console, and handheld entries. A bunch of these titles come with modern enhancements too, including online play with rollback netcode. It's set to be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, Switch, and PC in 2025. One of the only VR games at the showcase was Thief VR: Legacy Of Shadow, which is set to launch across PSVR2, PC VR, and Meta Quest next year. This is the first Thief game in over a decade, and it comes with a new protagonist called Magpie, who is described a 'cunning thief orphaned by Northcrest's brutality and shaped by the streets'. It's being developed by Vertigo Games and Maze Theory, in collaboration with Eidos-Montreal. Five years after the last instalment, Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja officially announced Nioh 3 and there's a limited time demo available right now until June 18 on PlayStation 5. More Trending This sequel, which is slated for next year, features two combat styles between Samurai and Ninja. The former is similar to the Nioh combat seen in past games, while the Ninja style serves up quick movements, aerial actions, Ninjitsu techniques, and other abilities. While these were the main highlights, there were several other smaller announcements, with new trailers for Sea Of Thieves-like Sea Remnants, Tides Of Tomorrow from the creators of Road 96, and Sword Of The Sea from the team behind The Pathless. There were release dates for several indie titles too, with Baby Steps slated for September 8, Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound arriving on July 31, and survival climber Cairn planned for November 5, with a demo available now. 007 First Light trailer revealed and fans are convinced this actor is James Bond
Hitman developer IO Interactive has debuted the first trailer for 007 First Light, with a very youthful James Bond. After the game's title was announced earlier this week, developer IO Interactive has unveiled the first trailer for its upcoming James Bond game 007 First Light. The trailer, which was showcased during Sony's State Of Play, debuted a new 26-year-old version of the character, originally created by Ian Fleming. While a young James Bond was perhaps always going to look odd, his plain appearance more echoes a Fortnite skin than a British spy (even though he does have the original scar on his cheek). The actor playing James Bond is yet to be confirmed, but many fans have highlighted the similarities to The OA and Dexter: Original Sin actor Patrick Gibson. Lennie James, who is known for playing Morgan in The Walking Dead, also appears to be playing a new character called John Greenway, who is described as Bond's mentor. As noted in a PlayStation blog post, you'll encounter new versions of classic Bond characters M, Q, and Moneypenny in the game too, some of which pop up in the trailer. 007 First Light is described as an origin story for James Bond, who starts out as a Royal Navy air crewman before he's propelled into MI6 training following 'an audacious act of bravery', according to the blog post. The game features an original standalone story, which was developed in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios. Developer IO Interactive has said in the past how it hopes to expand the story into a trilogy. More Trending Gameplay wise, the combat looks very reminiscent of IO Interactive's work on Hitman, but it also boasts driving sections and gadgets to mess around with, including a laser watch. It also promises to span a variety of locationsaround the world, with the trailer showing island resorts and nightclubs.
