007 First Light trailer revealed and fans are convinced this actor is James Bond

Metro2 days ago

Hitman developer IO Interactive has debuted the first trailer for 007 First Light, with a very youthful James Bond.
After the game's title was announced earlier this week, developer IO Interactive has unveiled the first trailer for its upcoming James Bond game 007 First Light.
The trailer, which was showcased during Sony's State Of Play, debuted a new 26-year-old version of the character, originally created by Ian Fleming. While a young James Bond was perhaps always going to look odd, his plain appearance more echoes a Fortnite skin than a British spy (even though he does have the original scar on his cheek).
The actor playing James Bond is yet to be confirmed, but many fans have highlighted the similarities to The OA and Dexter: Original Sin actor Patrick Gibson. Lennie James, who is known for playing Morgan in The Walking Dead, also appears to be playing a new character called John Greenway, who is described as Bond's mentor.
As noted in a PlayStation blog post, you'll encounter new versions of classic Bond characters M, Q, and Moneypenny in the game too, some of which pop up in the trailer.
007 First Light is described as an origin story for James Bond, who starts out as a Royal Navy air crewman before he's propelled into MI6 training following 'an audacious act of bravery', according to the blog post.

The game features an original standalone story, which was developed in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios. Developer IO Interactive has said in the past how it hopes to expand the story into a trilogy. More Trending
Gameplay wise, the combat looks very reminiscent of IO Interactive's work on Hitman, but it also boasts driving sections and gadgets to mess around with, including a laser watch. It also promises to span a variety of locationsaround the world, with the trailer showing island resorts and nightclubs.
Unless I'm mistaken, our new game Bond is being played by Patrick Gibson.Another Irish Bond in the bag, can't argue with that! Also… the scar down the cheek from the books, FINALLY!!!#007FirstLight pic.twitter.com/bmKT6OHFeR — Aaron McGahon (@AarontYouGreat) June 4, 2025
The production itself looks impressive, and the developer certainly has a strong history with stealth action games, but it remains to be seen if this young version of Bond will stick the landing.
007 First Light is set to launch in 2026 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. More about the game is set to be revealed at the IOI Showcase on Friday, June 7 at 2am BST.

Tinie Tempah says nightlife crisis means ‘losing that physical connection'

Tinie Tempah says nightlife crisis means 'losing that physical connection' The 36-year-old rapper, from south London, is backing the Night Time Industries Association's (NTIA) The Last Night Out campaign, which pushes for people to get away from their screens and onto the dance floor. Tinie Tempah (Image: Pub in the Park ) Tinie Tempah has said that young people are "losing that physical connection" by not being part of the UK's nightlife economy as he teased new music. The 36-year-old rapper, from south London, is backing the Night Time Industries Association's (NTIA) The Last Night Out campaign, which pushes for people to get away from their screens and onto the dance floor. ‌ "As a dad, I've seen how different things are for this generation," said Tempah, who has not released a studio album since 2017's Youth, as he appears to have focused towards his children and taken a break from music. ‌ "We're losing that physical connection, the joy and energy that you get from dancing, meeting new people from all backgrounds and being free. "I didn't want to just talk about it – I wanted to do something. Music brings people together – and nightlife is where that magic happens." The campaign calls on the Government to step up and provide urgent financial support for night-time venues as well as cultural protection for "iconic clubs". Article continues below The NTIA released data last year showing 37% of nightclubs had closed across the UK since March 2020. Tempah has returned to the studio and is developing a collaboration with gaming platforms Roblox and Fortnite to integrate music and virtual life, according to the NTIA. He is also creating a short film and a series of live events focused on "driving energetic movement and nightlife", which will be unveiled at technology, creative and business conference SXSW London on Friday. ‌ He will be joined at the event at London nightclub XOYO by NTIA chief executive Michael Kill, north London musician and DJ Majestic and BBC Radio 1 DJ Charlie Tee for a "one-off evening of music, culture and conversation about the future of the UK's night-time economy". Mr Kill said: "It's been amazing to see how Tinie Tempah has resonated with The Last Night Out's message. "He really understands what's at stake – not just for club culture, but for society. ‌ "Nightlife isn't just entertainment; it's a space for freedom, creativity, connection and movement. We're thrilled to have Tinie Tempah bring his voice, his energy and his music to the campaign." Introduced to the NTIA by the Mayor of London's office, Tempah believes the shared experience of nightlife is an important part of the UK's future society. Tempah, known for hits including Written In The Stars and Pass Out, has presented the six-part art show Extraordinary Portraits as well as a property programme called Extraordinary Extensions. Gamer shares the one thing you need to do after buying Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo released its Switch 2 console in the UK this week and a gaming expert has expressed the importance of completing one particular task first before playing any games The release of the Nintendo Switch 2 sparked a shopping frenzy amongst avid gamers at midnight on Thursday (June 5) with the new console rapidly selling out across the country. With launch titles including Mario Kart World and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, fans couldn't wait to plug in and play. One gaming expert has warned that there is a task you should complete first before getting down to playing, however, given the hugely-anticipated device's hefty £395.99 price tag. Dylan Czeh, who provides gaming advice via his YouTube channel, Dyllie', took to TikTok to reveal: "If you just got a Nintendo Switch 2, this is the first thing you need to do." ‌ On firing the console up, Dylan said you'll receive prompt giving you the option to transfer your data from your original Switch to the Switch 2. "If you have the Switch 1, you need to start the system transfer now," he explained. "Because if you press 'Don't Transfer', it's not going to give you the option later." ‌ The transfer isn't simple, however, and speaking from experience, Dylan went on to point out that you will require an Express microSD card to do so. "Don't forget to get this, you're going to need it too," he continued. The expert closed by illustrating his point further, showing that by clicking 'Don't Transfer' you will receive a dialogue box warning that you won't be able to transfer data in future. Following the advice, one TikTok user penned in response: "I've spent three hours transferring everything over, moving key cards, setting the Switch 2 as the primary console, downloading updates, and Switch 2 upgrades, and making sure my saved data transferred successfully. I'm finally finishing with downloading Mario Kart World then I'm done." However, a second fumed: "And this is one of the many reasons I'm not buying the second one and just using my normal Switch." Whilst a third said: "I didn't do it because it would take a lot of space for the SD Card. So I made the right choice." Attempting to entice customers into making a purchase, Nintendo shared a list of improvements the Switch 2 possesses. A press release on Thursday read: "Nintendo Switch 2 builds on the foundations of the Nintendo Switch system, and delivers a multitude of new features and enhancements, including: New social capabilities with the built-in mic and the new online feature GameChat, where up to 12 friends and family can play games and talk like they're all in the same room, even when they're miles apart. You can also video chat with up to four people if you connect a compatible USB-C camera, such as the Nintendo Switch 2 camera (sold separately). Powerful CPU and GPU capable of enhanced visuals and performance. A large 7.9-inch built-in LCD screen that displays in full HD at 1080p. Joy-Con 2 controllers that magnetically attach to the system. New mouse controls are also possible by sliding them across surfaces, such as a tabletop or even your lap in compatible games. 256 GB storage capacity – 8 times that of Nintendo Switch (a portion of which is reserved for use by the system). USB-C ports on the top and bottom of the system, and a freely adjustable stand for playing and charging in tabletop mode. Crisp audio quality and spatial 3D sound in handheld and tabletop modes. A new dock that enables the Nintendo Switch 2 to output video at up to 4K resolution or play games at up to 120 fps in supported games on compatible displays or TVs. Variable refresh rate (VRR) technology, available in handheld mode, helps games move seamlessly by preventing frame skips and flickering.

Nintendo Switch 2 GameChat feature doesn't censor swear words

A text-to-speech feature on the Nintendo Switch 2 appears to have no limits, as people get to grips with GameChat on the system. After months of waiting, the Nintendo Switch 2 is officially out in the wild and people can finally test the console's capabilities. Many have already discovered how the Switch 2 upgrades for original Switch games are more transformative than initially expected (especially for Pokémon), while other improvements, like the Nintendo eShop actually running well, also go a long way. One feature which has flown under the radar is GameChat, which allows you to chat with friends while playing a game, share your screen, and if you a have a camera, broadcast your face during rounds of Mario Kart World. In a boon for accessibility, the feature also comes with a speech-to-text feature and, naturally, people are testing its limits. As highlighted by Bluesky user David Howe, GameChat's speech-to-text tool doesn't censor swear words. 'CONFIRMED: you can say f**k in game chat speech-to-text,' they wrote, with a picture showing an explicit exchange with a friend. While Nintendo is known for being strict when it comes to online communication to protect its family-friendly reputation, this is perhaps a different case for several reasons. Firstly, GameChat only works between people you've added on your friends list, so it's a private space. It also requires players to register a phone number, so it isn't easily accessible to young children. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. Crucially, the speech-to-text tool is an accessibility feature. In a Bluesky post, journalist and accessibility consultant, Laura Kate Dale, praised Nintendo for not censoring swearing 'by default' unlike some other platforms and described it as a 'accessibility win for disabled people'. More Trending If you want to turn on the speech-to-text tool in GameChat, you can activate it in the Switch 2 console's accessibility settings. While GameChat is private theoretically, it does require you to consent to terms whereby chat content is 'recorded and stored temporarily' on your system. As reported by Ars Technica, these stored recordings may be shared with Nintendo, but only if a user reports a violation of the company's community guidelines. However, these recordings are 'available only if the report is submitted within 24 hours', implying the footage will be deleted from local storage after a day. Many retailers have sold out following the Switch 2's launch on June 5, although you might have some luck if you head down to certain stores.
