Avoid controversy, think before you speak, Amit Shah's advice to MP mins
Amit Shah
on Saturday afternoon inaugurated the three-day training session organised by the state BJP for ministers, MPs, and MLAs at a private hotel in Pachmarhi.
After the controversy over minister for tribal welfare Vijay Shah's sexist and communal "sister of their community" remark on Colonel Sofiya Qureshi that shocked the nation last month, Amit Shah gave a strong word of advice to the state BJP top brass and elected representatives.
He asked them to avoid making controversial statements. Shah also said that if a mistake was committed by someone, such an error should not be repeated.
"Think before you speak," he said. Minister for tribal welfare Vijay Shah was present in the training camp during Shah's inaugural speech.
At the beginning of the training session, condolences were expressed and homages paid to the victims of the Ahmedabad plane crash. Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to the congregation of 201 participants on the party's journey "From Jan Sangh to BJP – 1951 to 2025". He said that only those who remain students till the last moment, who have the zeal to learn, can bring about change.

"Today, we can see the acceptance of BJP from panchayats to Parliament.
BJP govt is necessary for a well-organised, educated, developed country," Amit Shah said. "In three years, Sindhu water will flow till Ganganagar, Pakistan will yearn for every drop," he said.
Shah said that Madhya Pradesh BJP has a glorious tradition. "Late Kushabhau Thakre dedicated every moment of his life to the party and the organisation received the blessings of great leaders like Late Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia and Late Sundarlal Patwa Ji," he said.
"We are all party workers and the party has promoted us based on our ability and capacity, made us MPs and MLAs," he reasoned.
Shah recounted that when the country became independent, Congress was in power, and Pt. Nehru completely dominated the Congress party. "The policies made by the Nehru govt at that time did not have the fragrance of the country's soil. There was no proclamation of our ancient culture in them. They were inspired by Western values.
There were many leaders at that time who did not agree with these policies. One of them was Dr Shyamaprasad Mukherjee, who was the Union Minister for Industry in the Nehru Cabinet," Shah said.
"When Pt. Nehru imposed Article 370 in Kashmir because of the Nehru-Liaqat Pact, Dr Shyamaprasad Mukherjee resigned from the post of minister. He felt the need for a political party in the country that is connected to our history, religion, tradition, and culture.
With this idea, he founded the Jana Sangh," he said.
Shah explained that Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay sowed the seeds of the ideology of this party. "He (Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay) said that this party will be a party based on organisation, whose soul will be its workers. Forming a govt will not be our goal, rather we will form a govt for our principles," Shah said.
"At that time people made fun of the Jan Sangh, but today the BJP, formed from the Jana Sangh, is the largest political party.
We have govts in 18 states. We have the most MPs, MLAs, district panchayats, municipalities, janpad panchayats, and gram panchayats. Today, from Panchayat to Parliament, only BJP is visible. This development and expansion of the party is the result of hard work and virtue of eight generations of workers," he said.
Speaking on Article 370, Amit Shah recalled that Dr Shyamaprasad Mukherjee proclaimed that 'do vidhan, do nishan, do pradhan' cannot work in one nation.
"He marched to remove Article 370 and was murdered. While agitating against Article 370, Dr Mukherjee protected every inch of the country's land. Ban on cow slaughter, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi program is a symbol of cultural nationalism," he said.
He argued that the govt should be nationalist, dedicated to development, a promoter of cultural nationalism. "Whoever forms govt, it should be prosperous for the state and the country.
The path to prosperity should be Antyodaya. It is a process to take the poor section of society to becoming the most prosperous person and making the country prosperous is our only goal. The term Bimaru State was a big topic of discussion.
The term Bimaru was created by using the words 'B' for Bihar, 'M' for Madhya Pradesh, 'R' for Rajasthan, and 'U' for Uttar Pradesh," Amit Shah maintained. "Today the country is seeing that these four states have become progressive and prosperous, leaving other states behind and are constantly moving ahead," he claimed.
He said that when the BJP govt was formed in Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chauhan took over the reins. In his tenure of 20 years, he took that state out of the BIMARU category. Similarly, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh transformed after the formation of BJP govts there. Shah said that it was due to the hard work of BJP workers that the party came to power.
"In 2014, the BJP got a full majority and formed govt under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In the last 11 years, the BJP is following the basic principles laid down by Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee and Deendayal Upadhyaya. Antyodaya was the main goal in these 11 years. Schemes like providing pucca houses, electricity, water, health guarantee up to Rs 5 lakh, five kg free grain to 60 crore people worked to bring about a change in life.
Work was done to open 52 crore Jan Dhan accounts; free gas connections were given to women under the Ujjwala scheme," he said.
Talking about national security, he said that Article 370, which separated Jammu and Kashmir from the country, was removed on 5 August 2019. "Not even a single stone was thrown in Jammu and Kashmir. Whatever things the Congress leaders used to say, did not happen. Another very big achievement of our govt is that after the formation of the govt under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, not a single youth of Jammu and Kashmir is holding a gun in his hands," Shah said.
"In Operation Sindoor, the Pakistan Army headquarters was attacked and damaged. After the Pahalgam attack, the Indus Water Treaty was postponed. This treaty was made during the time of Jawaharlal Nehru. Within three years, the water of Indus will be taken to Sri Ganganagar through canals and irrigation facility will start in a large area. Pakistan will crave for every drop of water," Shah said. "In Pahalgam, they attacked by asking about religion, now they will crave for food grains to eat.
They will have to ask for food grains from foreign countries," he added.

Change Aligarh's name to ‘Harigarh': UP deputy CM at ‘Hindu Gaurav Diwas' event
Uttar Pradesh deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Thursday demanded that Aligarh be renamed "Harigarh" just like Ayodhya and Prayagraj. CM Yogi Adityanath and deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya at a recent function.(PTI File) Addressing a 'Hindu Gaurav Diwas' ceremony to mark the death anniversary of Uttar Pradesh CM Kalyan Singh, Maurya said that it was his wish that "Babuji", as Singh is popularly known, be conferred with the Bharat Ratna, the country's highest civilian honour. Kalyan Singh, a native of Aligarh who served twice as the CM of Uttar Pradesh, is remembered for his role in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement and for steering the BJP's early growth in the state. "You all know Ayodhya was once called Faizabad. But under the leadership of our respected chief minister (Adityanath), it was renamed Ayodhya again. Similarly, Prayagraj was earlier known as Allahabad. Just two days ago, Shahjahanpur's Jalalabad was renamed Parshurampuri. Then there should be no delay in renaming Aligarh to Harigarh," Maurya said. The deputy CM shared the stage with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Cabinet Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister Jitin Prasada, and other dignitaries, who paid homage to Kalyan Singh. Maurya also targeted the Samajwadi Party (SP) from the stage, saying the opposition party's pitch on PDA (Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) is "nothing but divide and rule". "On Babuji's death anniversary, we pledge to uproot the SP's cycle (party symbol) and send it to Saifai. That will be a true tribute to Babuji," he said, drawing applause from BJP workers present.

Land acquisition for UKP 3: Govt. has to pay ₹2 lakh crore compensation
A whopping amount of over ₹2 lakh crore has to be disbursed as compensation for the acquisition of 1.33 lakh acres to be acquired for Upper Krishna Project-3 if an average is calculated as per the additional compensation awards given by the courts, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, who holds the Water Resources portfolio, said on Thursday. Responding to a question from BJP member P.H. Poojar, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the government has gone on an appeal against additional compensation awarded by the court as government will have to shell out ₹66,563 crores to 29,566 acres which has been acquired already. The government has estimated compensation of ₹2.01 lakh crores to be provided for acquiring 1,33,867 acres based on average calculation of additional compensation awarded by the courts. In his written reply, Mr. Shivakumar said that 28,407 cases were pending in court seeking higher compensation for land being acquired for UKP-3. He said that there was a nexus with advocates involved in this. However, Mr. Poojar took exception to this statement and said that the additional compensation has been given by court due to the delay in process of awarding compensation. The Deputy Chief Minister said that a proposal was being finalised in the Cabinet to solve the problem, and that he has even sought transfer the land acquisition process from Revenue Department to Irrigation Department. 'Some of the court awards have been in the range of ₹8 crores to ₹10 crore. Even in Bengaluru, such high rates do not prevail.' He also appealed to the elected representatives to convince the farmers for enhanced compensation and consent to acquisition, and the government would come up with a formula. 'Farmers are unhappy with the Cabinet sub-committee's decision during the Basavaraj Bommai government. Convince the farmers and we will come up with a plan,' he said.
