Bruce Willis' wife tears up over his heartbreaking dementia battle in interview

Metro5 hours ago
Bruce Willis' wife, Emma Heming Willis, teared up as she recalled the moment they were informed of his dementia diagnosis.
In 2023, the Die Hard actor was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) – an 'uncommon' form of the disease that causes the sufferer problems with behavior and language.
The 70-year-old has since taken a back seat from the public eye to focus on his health, with his loved ones rallying around following the news.
Ahead of her upcoming book about becoming a caregiver, Emma, 47, had an emotional sit-down interview with Diane Sawyer to discuss his condition and how their lives had changed.
In the teaser for the ABC special, titled Emma & Bruce Willis: The Unexpected Journey, she told the host: 'I was so panicked, and I just remember hearing it, and just not hearing anything else.
'It was like I was free-falling.'
When asked what love means to her, she said through tears: 'Love is beautiful. It's grand. It's unconditional.
'I'm so lucky to feel the love.'
The full episode will air on August 26 on ABC, and will share unseen moments from Emma's relationship with Bruce.
The pair got married in 2009 and share daughters Mabel and Evelyn together, while the Sixth Sense actor is also dad to daughters Rumer, Scout and Tallulah with ex-wife Demi Moore.
He was previously diagnosed with aphasia in 2022 – at the time, his family announced that he would be ending his decades-long film career for the sake of his health.
They posted a lengthy joint statement the following year, sharing the news of his FTD condition.
Although there are currently no treatments, his loved ones have all used their platforms to raise as much awareness as possible for other sufferers. More Trending

Woke Triple J takes a dig at Taylor Swift at the end of their news segment - as they continue their hate campaign against pop star

A Triple J newsreader has taken a thinly-veiled dig at Taylor Swift following the announcement of her new studio album, The Life of a Showgirl. Presenter Jack James raised eyebrows on Friday's breakfast show as he wrapped up his news bulletin by sarcastically announcing: 'That's the news for the day. I am off to announce my 12th studio album on my boyfriend's podcast now.' His comment clearly poked fun at Swift for unveiling her 12th studio album on this week's episode of her boyfriend Travis Kelce 's New Heights podcast. Triple J, an ABC-owned station that brands itself as an inde broadcaster, has made no secret of its dislike for Swift's music due to its mainstream pop appeal, having largely excluded her music from its rotation for a decade. Back in 2014, the station famously banned the songstress' music after a social media campaign for her hit Shake It Off to take out the Hottest 100. The campaign gained so much traction that even KFC jumped on board, with the fast food chain offering a $19.89 voucher - in reference to the pop star's 1989 album - to customers who posted their favourite Swift song. The move ultimately breached the countdown's strict policy of disqualifying artists who receive commercial endorsement. 'Their #Tay4Hottest100 campaign bought Taylor a one-way ticket to Bansville,' the ABC wrote in an article revealing the decision to disqualify her. However, in a statement to Daily Mail Australia in 2023, Triple J insisted Swift was not actually 'banned' from Australia's biggest annual music competition. 'There has never been a ban on Taylor Swift as an artist appearing in triple j's Hottest 100, however we were forced to disqualify one of her tracks in the Hottest 100 of 2014 because voting guidelines were breached,' a spokesperson said. Meanwhile, Swift's decision to announce her new album on Kelce's podcast has also ruffled some feathers among critics. Hannah Ferguson, who has been described as a 'next-generation feminist' and runs the news commentary platform Cheek Media, had some thoughts on the pop star's announcement, which she shared with her 193,000 Instagram followers on Tuesday. 'YES I will be the first listener but imagine being one of the most successful women in the world and announcing your next huge career milestone on your boyfriend's sport podcast,' Ferguson wrote across an Instagram clip that showed her looking bemused. Ferguson's comments section was quickly filled with followers who were confused by her stance. 'Why yuck someone's yum? This is an exhausting take,' one person commented, while another said, 'This is a strange take.' 'Imagine being bothered by this,' wrote someone else, with one more saying, 'This ain't it. Support women and whatever decision they make to better themselves.' Others supported Ferguson's view, with one fan commenting, 'Hard agree. I get she wants to boost up his podcast but, I don't see why he has to be involved in such a huge announcement for her mammoth career. 'It's out of character for her to be on a podcast period, let alone announce a new album on there. Will listen regardless and love that she is happy but for us very long term Swifties we know this is a strange move.'

Curry house that Peter Crouch threatened to name his child after closes down

A beloved Indian restaurant which once delivered to Kensington Palace has closed down after 42 years in business. Samrat Indian Cuisine in Ealing, west London is a firm favourite of former England football star Peter Crouch, who has been visiting since he was a child. While recording an episode of That Peter Crouch Podcast in July 2020, Prince William surprised his host by having a curry from Samrat delivered to them in Kensington Palace. And the footballer even said he considered naming his fourth child after the restaurant. After the birth of his and wife Abbey Clancy's youngest son, Jack, in June 2019, the couple joked that he would be named 'Divock Samrat Crouch' in a nod to his favourite curry house and Liverpool striker Divock Origi, who had recently scored the winning goal in the Champions League Final. In a tribute to Samrat, Peter said: 'We laughed, we cried, we scalded our lips on the phall. 'We went to the palace to meet the Prince and you woke me up in my bedroom with a madras once. 'Wherever we went in the world we always came back. Thanks for the memories. Thank you Samrat.' Shafrul Islam, who had run Samrat for over four decades, said Peter had been in touch with him since the restaurant shut in an attempt to try and save it – but he and his partner were 'not healthy' and could no longer carry on. Mr Islam, 64, said: 'It was sad to close, but we are not healthy anymore and can't carry on. Peter got in touch. He was trying to help but it's too late now. 'He was sad, but everybody's sad. He was a local guy. He was coming as a kid with his mum and dad. I've known him for a long time. I've been to his house in Portugal.' Over the years Mr Islam said the restaurant had served several celebrities, from comedian Rowan Atkinson and politician Neil Kinnock, to footballers Joe Cole and Aaron Ramsdale. Back in 2023, he brought a chicken madras to Peter's holiday home in Portugal as part of Michael McIntyre's Big Show, where the footballer was able to correctly identify which of three curries came from Samrat. More Trending He posted a handwritten note in the restaurant's front window explaining: 'After nearly four decades we have made the difficult decision to close our doors. 'Thank you for trusting us with birthdays, anniversaries, quiet evenings and everyday moments. 'Your loyalty has meant everything and it's been a pleasure to be a part of the community. 'It's time to say goodbye, with immense gratitude. With love and thanks, Samrat.' Get in touch with our news team by emailing us at webnews@ For more stories like this, check our news page.
