Dolphins were one of 10 teams that saved the Tush Push from being banned
The Miami Dolphins were of 10 teams that voted to keep the "Tush Push" from being banned Wednesday, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The play, which has been made famous by the Philadelphia Eagles in recent years, has been contested for much of the 2025 offseason after a rule change proposal was submitted by the Green Bay Packers in March. After tabling talks until May, the NFL needed 24 votes Wednesday to institute the ban. Only 22 teams voted for the Tush Push to become illegal.
According to Schefter, the Eagles, Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots, New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, and Tennessee Titans voted to keep the Tush Push in the game.
'It's tough because I have a hard time making things illegal because of success," Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said of the play when asked about it in February. "However, I think in my mind it's a different thing if it's a safety issue.
"For me in the game of football, when your job is to take 11 people, possess the ball, move it down the field to try to get in the end zone to score points, I think because it's successful I have a hard time being that the teeth of the argument to move on from it. That's just my opinion; I do understand both sides.'

Ultimately, the veteran NFL quarterback decided Pittsburgh would be where he would play his 21st season. Rodgers' arrival solves the Steelers' quarterback problems – at least for now – after Russell Wilson and Justin Fields both signed with New York Teams. Now Rodgers will battle Mason Rudolph, who signed a two-year contract in March, for the starting position. The list keeps growing of those annoyed by Stephen A. Smith's new SiriusXM Radio show. ESPN's Joe Fortenbaugh, who co-hosts 'Carlin vs. Joe' weekdays from 12-3 p.m. ET on ESPN Radio, called out Stephen A. Smith on Thursday over his new show that will now compete in that time slot in a back-and-forth that alternated between joking and serious tones. The exchange came on the heels of Michelle Beadle calling out Smith after the reveal that his new show would take her spot on SiriusXM, which led to her and co-host Cody Decker being fired.
