Cops to liaise with Indonesian Embassy for details on deceased baby's mother
Acting Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad said this was aimed at identifying the baby's biological mother and informing her about the incident.
"The investigating officer will liaise with the Indonesian Embassy to identify the birth mother and inform her of her baby's death.
"Checks revealed that the baby had been handed over to a married couple, who are in custody without any identification papers.
"To date, we have recorded statements from seven individuals, including neighbours," he said, adding that the couple was under remand.
"Once the investigation papers are completed, we will submit them to the Attorney-General's Chambers," he said at the City Police Headquarters here today.
It was reported that the death of the 7-month-old baby girl in Bandar Permaisuri, Cheras, was believed to be due to a fractured skull, suspected to be the result of prolonged abuse by her adoptive mother over the past month.
The suspect was believed to have acted out of frustration over the baby's frequent crying.
A post-mortem revealed multiple injuries across the body, particularly on the head.
On July 31, it was reported that a baby girl was found unconscious on July 30 in a condominium in Bandar Sri Permaisuri, Cheras.
She had bruises and a bluish complexion and was later pronounced dead.
Police confirmed receiving a report from a man at 9.34pm, stating that his adopted daughter had been found unconscious at their residence for unknown reasons.
The adoptive parents, aged 38 and 50, were arrested to assist in the investigation.

JOHOR BARU: The Malaysian Immigration Department detained 27 foreign workers without valid permits in Op Selera at a food premises in Bandar Baru Permas Jaya here on Monday. Johor Immigration director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said the integrated operation, involving 25 officers from the department's enforcement division, was conducted as a result of intelligence and public information regarding their activities at the premises. He said the arrests involved eight Indonesian men and eight women, five Myanmar men and six women aged between 18 and 50. "All of them are suspected of committing offences under Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Immigration Regulations 1963 as well as Regulation 11(7)(a) of the Immigration Regulations 1963. "Meanwhile, a local man who is the owner of the premises was also detained under Section 56(1)(d) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for harbouring foreigners," he said in a statement tonight. Mohd Rusdi said all the detainees were placed at the Setia Tropika Immigration Depot for investigation and further action, in addition to being issued three notices to appear at the Immigration Department to assist in the ongoing investigation. "At the same time, we would like to remind the public and employers not to harbour or employ illegal immigrants to work as legal action would be taken against them. "Therefore, employers are advised to contact the nearest immigration office directly to obtain accurate (and authentic) information if there is a party claiming to be able to manage foreign workers," he added. – Bernama

IGP: Stop circulating unverified content on Zara Qairina's murder
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have warned the public against spreading inaccurate information and images related to the Zara Qairina case on social media. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail said such actions could jeopardise the ongoing investigation and deny justice to those involved. "The police have detected the circulation of false claims and photographs of a child allegedly linked to the case, which have been uploaded and shared by certain individuals. "The information being shared is inaccurate and has the potential to mislead the public. "Such actions can not only compromise the ongoing investigation but also jeopardise justice for all parties involved," he said in a statement. Khalid reminded the public that such acts are offences under Section 15 of the Child Act 2001, which prohibits the disclosure of information on the identity, address, school name, and photographs of children involved; Section 203A of the Penal Code for disclosure of information; and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities or network services. He said all investigation processes, including the post-mortem, were being carried out in accordance with existing procedures and legal provisions. He said that compliance with the law was fundamental to the nation's peace and wellbeing, warning that any violations would be met with stern action. Earlier, the Attorney-General's Chambers (A-GC) called on the public to stop circulating unverified information, including images of children allegedly linked to the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir.
