Greggs customers disappointed to see sandwich discontinued
The sandwich had consisted of spiced chicken and salad topped with chipotle mayonnaise, reports The Sun.
The newspaper said the replacement for the popular sandwich is the Sweet & Spicy Chicken Oval Bite.
Discontinued UK sweets/chocolates
Greggs said the sandwich is 'packed with slices of spicy chicken breast, pineapple chilli sauce, sliced mild Cheddar chilli cheese, crispy onions, spicy mayo and mixed leaves in a seeded roll'.
While the replacement is now available on the menu, fans of the Mexican Chicken Oval Bite have shared their disappointment at the sandwich disappearing from Greggs' shelves.
On Reddit, someone said it had been their 'go-to sandwich for about 15 years'.
Another said: 'Damn these were one of my favourites. Also one of the few sandwiches my daughter would eat!'
This Greggs customer said: 'Well there goes my greggs buying. I used to only get the Mexican chicken in one form or other. I don't like too much spice, and they were perfect.'

Another Reddit user offered Greggs fans some hope: 'They've been replaced by the spicy chipotle baguette and They're very similar'.
A Greggs spokesperson told Newsquest: 'The Mexican Chicken Oval Bite is taking a well-deserved rest to make room for our brand-new Sweet & Spicy Chicken Oval Bite which has recently landed in shops.'
The news of the menu change follows Greggs' exciting holiday giveaway that offered a three-night all-inclusive package holiday at the four-star Iberostar Selection Marbella Coral Beach for the price of the iconic menu item - a sausage roll. The giveaway is now closed.

The hassle-free way to instantly save money on your mobile bill WITHOUT changing provider – or bag freebies by switching
Happy with the service you have? There's another way to get the exact same signal but save revealed below SWITCHED ON The hassle-free way to instantly save money on your mobile bill WITHOUT changing provider – or bag freebies by switching Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) MOBILE network price hikes sting us all, year in year out - and trying to negotiate a new deal is a major pain. But there hidden ways to easily stay with your provider for cheaper or switch to bag a load of freebies worth £100s. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 Sneaky trick lets your network do all the leg work to save you money Credit: Getty 2 And all it takes is a simple text message Credit: Jamie Harris / The Sun I've been through several networks over the years and switching has become a lot easier. For the very best value for money, I would always encourage anyone to change provider routinely. This is also how you can claim some extra freebies as well that go beyond your phone network service. Here, I reveal three options to cut your mobile bills. #1 STAY AND SAVE You might be happy with the actual service you're currently receiving and therefore reluctant to go elsewhere, with excellent 5G around the areas that matter most, like home and work. Less tech-confident users are simply put off because they're afraid of losing their number. It is possible to transfer your number to another provider but if you're not sure, this might be the option for you to save. Firstly, the most important thing to check is whether you're out of contract. If you're unsure, the easiest way to find out is by texting INFO to 85075 - it's a free number. Your network should ping you back with the information you need. Brits will always have mobile phone & internet signal at home after tech breakthrough that beats Elon Musk's Starlink If you are out of contract, you're good to go. Now, the last thing your provider wants is for you to leave and go somewhere else. Years ago, this used to be a massive headache, requiring you to ring up for a PAC code to transfer your number elsewhere. It inevitably led to waiting in queues and then having to navigate conversations with telesales reps desperate to prevent you from leaving. Since 2019, you've been able to cut that out and text to request it instantly by messaging the word PAC to 65075. Now, if you're out of contract and request the PAC code, this may well trigger your provider to ping you back with an offer to stay. Requesting the code won't make any changes to your service or account until you've handed that code over to a new provider, so there's no harm in trying it out today. #2 SWITCH TO SAVE - BUT KEEP THE SAME SIGNAL If there's not a good offer available with your provider, you may well have to switch. As mentioned before, you might be reluctant to do this if you get a good service. However, there are ways to switch while actually having the same network signal. There are three main network providers in the UK that own and run the masts. These are EE, O2 and VodafoneThree (the latter recently merged to form the UK's biggest mobile network). All the other networks just piggyback off one of these three using their masts. Often, these networks are a lot cheaper too. For example, Lyca Mobile piggybacks off EE. So if you're an EE customer and want to switch but keep the same network, you could try Lyca Mobile. It's important to note that these sorts of alternative networks can be subject to something called "throttling", where data speeds can be slightly lower, so it's worth checking before signing up - but it will run off exactly the same signal as your old provider. MOBILE PROVIDER PIGGYBACKS REVEALED Here are some of the mobile providers piggybacking off the UK's main networks so you have an idea of who you could switch to. EE: 1pMobile Boshhh CMLink Ecotalk IQ Mobile Lyca Mobile Mozillion Now Mobile Popit Mobile Slice Mobile Spusu Talk Home Utility Warehouse Your Co-op O2: Giffgaff Sky Mobile Tesco Mobile Vodafone: Asda Mobile Lebara Talkmobile VOXI Three: Honest Mobile iD Mobile Smarty Superdrug Mobile Image credit: Getty #3 SWITCH, SAVE AND BAG FREEBIES As I mentioned earlier, switching entirely is usually the very cheapest option. And not only that, you can get some free extra perks along the way too. These often get forgotten when working out what's worthwhile. So, if you were to switch to O2 you would get a choice of O2 Extras. You get to pick one, including Disney+ or Amazon Prime for six months, or an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate pass. A Prime subscription alone would cost you more than £53 for the six months over that time. You can also add Prime onto your O2 bill for a £2 discount going forward as well. Other networks have similar offers. In my case, I recently switched to Vodafone. They offered me Amazon Prime for £1 for three months, as well as Disney+ for free for three months. I've since been offered YouTube Premium (worth £12.99 a month) free for two months. As well as free food from Sainbury's and drinks from Costa Coffee. So if switching is an option for you, take it. Remember, you can text PAC to 65075 to keep your existing number.

Wetherspoons confirms ‘outstanding' chicken meal is axed from all pubs leaving customers gutted
SPOONS fans have been left gutted after an 'outstanding' chicken meal was quietly axed from the menu. The beloved pub chain recently made a huge shake-up to its menu - and it turns out another fan favourite has disappeared from restaurants. 1 The Chicken Wings Basket meal is no longer available, a Wetherspoon spokesperson confirmed to The Sun. A Spoons customer questioned the decision on Reddit, writing: 'Why in the ever-loving f*** did Wethos get rid of the wings basket? 'My heart is broken.' The meal had included crispy chicken wings served in a basket alongside coleslaw and a choice of sauces. Fans had previously described the meal as 'outstanding and great value'. One person wrote: 'The best meal at Wetherspoons is the chicken wings basket, change my mind!' The meal was taken off the menu on May 14. However the chicken wings are still available as a small plate dish and as part of the pub chain's 'wings, strips and bites' offer. Plus, customers can still get the Boneless Basket which comes with three southern-fried chicken strips, five chicken breast bites, coleslaw and BBQ sauce. There's also the Chicken Bites Basket which includes 10 battered chicken breast pieces, coleslaw and BBQ sauce. Wetherspoons taste test The Chicken Wings Basket wasn't the only popular meal to come off the menu in May. Wetherspoon also decided to axe the steaks, mixed grill and gammon in a major blow for customers. The pub chain said at the time it wanted to freshen up its food offering and cut back on items branded 'loss-makers' after meat prices shot up. In an email sent to staff, Wetherspoons chief John Huston confirmed that the meats were being ditched 'after much debate'. However, in their place it released a brand new range of gourmet burgers. The mouthwatering new selection includes: The Big Smoke – Pulled BBQ beef brisket, American-style cheese and maple-cured bacon. Buffalo Burger – Fried buttermilk chicken breast with blue cheese, naga chilli sauce and melted cheese. Cheese Meltdown – American cheese layered with gooey Emmental and Cheddar cheese sauce. The chain also rolled out a new Korean-style chicken range. Spoons also launched a £2.99 breakfast deal in February, with customers able to get a breakfast muffin or small breakfast with soft or hot drink. There are also veggie options available, which is served between 8am and midday. Meanwhile tea and toast, which comes with two slices and either jam or marmalade, is just £2.49. It's not been all good news for Wetherspoons punters in recent months though. The pub chain exclusively revealed to The Sun in January it had increased the price of a host of drinks and meal deals by up to 30p. The chain hiked prices on drinks by 15p while meal deals were bumped up by 30p. Plus, the Chicken Bites Basket briefly disappeared from menus earlier this year. Customers were disappointed when they were listed as 'temporarily unavailable' for months. But they triumphantly returned to menus again in July. It's not clear why they were taken off the menu. How can I save money at Wetherspoons? FREE refills - Buy a £1.50 tea, coffee or hot chocolate and you can get free refills. The deal is available all day, every day. Check a map - Prices can vary from one location the next, even those close to each other. So if you're planning a pint at a Spoons, it's worth popping in nearby pubs to see if you're settling in at the cheapest. Choose your day - Each night the pub chain runs certain food theme nights. For instance, every Thursday night is curry club, where diners can get a main meal and a drink for a set price cheaper than usual. Pick-up vouchers - Students can often pick up voucher books in their local near universities, which offer discounts on food and drink, so keep your eyes peeled. Get appy - The Wetherspoons app allows you to order and pay for your drink and food from your table - but you don't need to be in the pub to use it. Taking full advantage of this, cheeky customers have used social media to ask their friends and family to order them drinks. The app is free to download on the App Store or Google Play. Check the date - Every year, Spoons holds its Tax Equality Day to highlight the benefits of a permanently reduced tax bill for the pub industry. It usually takes place in September, and last year it fell on Thursday, September 14. As well as its 12-day Real Ale Festival every Autumn, Wetherspoons also holds a Spring Festival.

Domino's opening fewer stores because of labour cost increases
Domino's Pizza Group has said it has opened fewer stores than expected as its franchisees have been 'cautious' due to higher labour costs linked to the Government's last budget. The pizza delivery specialist warned it would miss its original profit guidance for the year as it also highlighted 'weaker' sentiment among consumers, causing shares to plunge in early trading. It is among high street hospitality firms to have cautioned over 'tougher' market conditions recently, with Greggs also reporting pressure on customer demand last month. On Tuesday, the pizza chain – which has 1,381 stores in the UK and Ireland – said sales growth has been impacted by 'weak' consumer confidence in recent months. Andrew Rennie, chief executive of Domino's, said: 'There's no getting away from the fact that the market has become tougher both for us and our franchisees, and that's meant that the positive performance across the first four months didn't continue into May and June. 'Given weaker consumer confidence, increased employment costs and uncertainty ahead of the autumn statement, franchisees are taking a more cautious approach to store openings for the time being.' It said this has caused a 'short-term slowdown' in new stores but stressed that it expects this to pick up again next year. Domino's has opened 11 new stores so far this year and expects overall openings in the 'mid-20s' this financial year. The company had previously said it expected to open 'in excess of 50 new stores' this year. It came as the group also warned that profits would miss previous guidance due to weaker trading. Domino's told shareholders that it expects to deliver earnings between £130 million and £140 million for the year. It had previously said it was due to meet market expectations of between £140.8 million and £149.7 million. It came as the business revealed that system sales grew 1.3% to £777.8 million for the 26 weeks to June 29. Like-for-like sales were 0.1% lower for the half-year, as a positive first quarter was offset by a 0.7% decline in the second quarter, when delivery orders 'weakened'. The group added that 'softer' trading improved towards the end of July. Shares in Domino's Pizza Group fell by 19.4% to 198.2p in early trading on Tuesday.
