Peacemaker Grapples With a Parallel World — and Rick Flag's Vengeful Dad — in New Season 2 Trailer
Details on Peacemaker's Season 2 storyline had been scarce for a long while, aside from showrunner/DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn saying, 'It essentially picks up where Season 1 left off, with a couple minor differences' — including the fact that the Justice League that Peacemaker crossed paths with in the finale doesn't exist yet.

Now we have a formal synopsis, which reads, 'Peacemaker discovers an alternate world where life is everything he wishes it could be. But this discovery also forces him to face his traumatic past and take the future into his own hands.'
'What the whole season of Peacemaker revolves around' is the idea a pocket universe akin to the one Lex Luthor built in the new Superman film, Gunn said in a recent interview.
Peacemaker Season 2 is set for a Thursday, Aug. 21 premiere, releasing episodes weekly. Gunn wrote all eight episodes and directed three, including the premiere; Greg Mottola, Peter Sollett and Alethea Jones also directed.
Front man John Cena of course returns for Season 2, as does Jennifer Holland (as Emilia Harcourt), Steve Agee (as John Economos), Danielle Brooks (as Amanda Waller's daughter Leota Adebayo), Freddie Stroma (as Adrian Chase/Vigilante), Robert Patrick (as Chris Smith's father Auggie), Jand Nhut Le (as Judomaster) and Dee Bradley Baker (again voicing Eagly, who is back in a big way).
Among newcomers, MCU vet Frank Grillo plays Rick Flag Sr. — the new head of ARGUS and father of the Suicide Squad films' late Rick Flag Jr., who was played by Joel Kinnaman. (Grillo also voiced Flag Sr. in HBO Max's Creature Commandos, and made his live-action debut as the character in Gunn's Superman film.)
Additionally, SNL alum Tim Meadows plays ARGUS agent Langston Fleury; Michael Rooker is Red St. Wild, an eagle hunter with Eagly in his sights; Sol Rodriguez (Star Trek: Picard) plays Sasha Bordeaux (a Batman ally in the DC comics); and David Denman (The Office) fills an undisclosed role.
You can also expect cameos from Justice Gang members Guy Gardner/Green Lantern (The Rookie's Nathan Fillion) and Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl (The Last of Us' Isabel Merced), plus their backer Maxwell Lord (Sean Gunn).
Peacemaker — which premiered Jan. 13, 2022, and earned a TVLine reader grade of 'A' — was renewed for Season 2 back in February 2022, just hours before its Season 1 finale dropped. Filming began in the summer of 2024 and wrapped in late November.

James Gunn Confirms 9 DC Projects in Active Development but THE AUTHORITY Might Be in Trouble — GeekTyrant
James Gunn recently teased what's happening at DC Studios, and while there's a lot to be excited about, one highly-anticipated project might be stalling. In a recent TikTok interview with Straw Hat Goofy, Gunn enthusiastically listed several DCU projects that are actively moving forward. 'We got some really cool stuff happening. We got Supergirl coming out in a year, we got Lanterns coming out [in] probably less than a year. That's some good stuff, that's some really good stuff… 'We're making Clayface right now, and that is, oh man, the script by Mike Flanagan [is] so, oh, so good. Straight horror. And we're working on The Brave and the Bold , Wonder Woman , The Batman 2 with Matt Reeves, we're working on that, we're working on Sgt. Rock .' That's a total of seven projects Gunn rattled off without hesitation. Add to that some 'Krypto shorts… little cartoons for kids that are really fun' and a second season of Creature Commandos , which Gunn calls a 'real big priority,' and that brings the current count to nine. But what about The Authority ? When asked about the status of the WildStorm team's DCU debut, Gunn's response was... less enthusiastic. 'The Authority, that's… That's not going so well?' He said that with an awkward pause and laugh, and that might speak volumes about where that project currently stands. As for The Brave and the Bold , Gunn recently gave a small update. 'There's really no new updates,' he said. 'I mean, we're working on a script. We have a screenwriter who's hammering away at it. I'm very involved, and so, you know, we'll see what happens next. I wish I had more news for you, but I don't.' One project Gunn didn't explicitly mention but is definitely coming soon is Peacemaker Season 2, which drops in August. The whole TikTok clip played with a running gag where John Cena, fully suited up as Peacemaker, is completely ignored by Gunn. which is a fun nod to the next chapter that's just around the corner. There might be more unannounced projects still cooking behind the scenes, but as it stands, DC fans have a lot to look forward to. Just maybe don't hold your breath for The Authority anytime soon.

'Superman' Blows Past Zack Snyder's 'Man of Steel'

As far as why "Superman" is having a much weaker time overseas than its 2013 counterpart, Gunn has offered a couple of possible reasons. He's argued that Superman isn't as much of a "known commodity" across the globe, though that begs the question of why "Man of Steel" did so well.
