Jeremy Piven doesn't look like this anymore! Entourage star steps out at Primitive War premiere in Sydney sporting bold new hairdo

Daily Mail3 days ago
Jeremy Piven was showing off his updated hairdo as he stepped out at the premiere of his new film, Primitive War, in Sydney on Monday.
Piven, 60, who rose to fame as the foul-mouthed agent in HBO 's satirical Hollywood dramedy Entourage, has updated his 'do with some auburn hair dye.
The American actor, who previously wore his hair in straight, brown locks, now has red curls.
Jeremy opted for a trendy red carpet look, looking chic and youthful in a fitted blazer over a simple black shirt.
The comedian added matching trousers, along with a pair of crisp, white sneakers.
He finished his look with black-rimmed glasses and a simple silver chain, as well a chunky designer watch.
As well as promoting his new sci-fi thriller, Jeremy is currently Down Under on a stand-up comedy tour.
He astounded breakfast radio listeners when he swore during a trainwreck interview on Nova 100's Jase & Lauren show on Friday.
The popular funnyman was in the middle of describing his appreciation for Aussie audiences when, to the surprise of the Nova team, he dropped the C-bomb.
'My show in Perth, you know, sold out, unbelievable. There was only one c*** in the whole room,' he said.
Host Jason 'Jase' Hawkins censored the offensive word before it could get to air, leaving Piven a little sheepish.
The star, who had just made it to his early morning studio chat after taking a five-hour overnight plane from WA, asked his hosts lamely, 'You can't say that word?'
'I don't know where I am. I'm just gonna be totally unhinged,' a tired Piven joked.
Trying to get the interview back on the rails, co-host Lauren Phillips made a stab at humouring her guest.
'Whose idea was this? Which publicist is gonna absolutely cop a spray for getting you in here at 6?' she joked.
'I think the publicist wanted me to have a public… complete emotional breakdown,' Piven replied, tongue-in-cheek.
The actor played the acerbic Hollywood agent Ari Gold on the HBO series Entourage (pictured) from 2004 to 2011 and in the 2015 movie
Elsewhere in the chat, the three-time Emmy Award winner gushed over the response he has received from local fans on his current tour.
'You know, the people here have been so good to me… if I hear an Australian accent, they're always coming over to me, and they're really kind.
'And I know I say that, it's not a mantra, it's not a cliché, it's just the truth.
'All my shows are sold out. People are smart. They get the jokes… and if you're not funny, they're going to be silent. And if you're funny, you're going to crush it.'
The actor played the acerbic Hollywood agent Ari Gold on the HBO series Entourage from 2004 to 2011 and in the 2015 movie.

Home and Away star Isabel Lucas debuts hunky new surfer boyfriend - after high-profile romances with Chris Hemsworth and Adrian Grenier

Isabel Lucas has a new man on her arm. The former Home and Away actress, 40, went Instagram official with American film director Cyrus Sutton, 43, on Thursday. The pair could be seen cuddling in front of an idyllic waterfall, with Cyrus going shirtless and showing off his muscles. 'Where dreams rest,' the Australian star captioned the series of romantic images. In addition to directing a series of award-winning documentaries, many of them on the subject of surfing, Cyrus is himself a professional surfer. Cyrus landed an Emmy Award in 2005 for his film, Next Wave: A Tsunami Relief Story. The loved-up pair embraced and shared smitten looks in the carousel of images posted on Isabel's Instagram this week. It's unclear how long the couple have been dating, but friends and fans were quick to congratulate Isabel on the romance. 'You guysssss,' wrote filmmaker Sophie Haber, while model Abigail O'Neill added, 'Oh Isabel!' 'Aw this makes me happy to see,' commented artist Josje Leyten, with Silvana Philippoussis chiming in, 'Magic.' Isabel was last linked to a man named Samuel back in 2023. At the time, she shared a loved-up post to Instagram showing the couple cuddling by the beach at sunset. The Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen star captioned the post with the heartfelt comment: 'How I'm grateful for you. You're a slow burn, my love.' The actress, who dated Chris Hemsworth in 2006 before his Hollywood big break in Thor, is known to be notoriously private when it comes to her love life. She has previously been romantically linked to indie pop singer Angus Stone and Entourage star Adrian Grenier. Isabel has found herself at the centre of controversy in recent years for spreading bizarre theories about the Covid vaccine and 5G technology. She has thrown her support behind Pete Evans, the disgraced chef and conspiracy theorist who used to be a judge on My Kitchen Rules. The Water Diviner star insists she is not against all vaccines, however, just Covid-19 vaccines. Writing on Instagram at the height of the pandemic, the former soap actress said she was 'pro-choice', a term commonly used by people who don't want to be vaccinated.

Orpheus and Eurydice review – acrobatic Gluck is haunting, dizzying and gasp-inducing

Following on from their enthralling Southbank Centre Daphnis et Chloé earlier this year, Orpheus and Eurydice offers a second chance to experience the work of Brisbane-based Circa under the director, choreographer and set designer Yaron Lifschitz. With its streamlined dramatic structure and built-in ballets, Gluck's great reformation opera proves fertile ground for the company's agile blend of acrobatics and contemporary dance. The action opens with the dying Eurydice tumbling through space. So extreme is Orpheus's grief, it seems, that he has wound up in an asylum, strapped to one of a series of hospital beds that, along with a tiny glass house, make up Lifschitz's minimalist set. The acrobats swirl over and under him – every man an Orpheus, every woman a Eurydice – recalling the emotional volatility of their relationship and Orpheus's feverish hopes and fears for their future. Throughout this stark yet reasoned production we are never entirely sure what is real and what exists merely in the protagonist's head. Are the sombre chorus members disembodied hospital orderlies or fellow inmates? The final scene suggests the latter, but the director keeps us guessing. Lifschitz is a master of the striking image: a human tower that collapses to audible gasps; a staircase of bodies that one of the Orpheus figures must ascend. Only the occasional wobble reminds us of the extreme athletic demands. Suspended loops enable acrobats to float and fly while hinting at hangmen's nooses or restraints. White institutional walls are deftly lit by Alex Berlage in vivid crimsons, greens and minty blues. Libby McDonnell's black, white and red costumes are simplicity itself; Boris Bagattini's sparing video projections include occasional closeups on a troubled face and surtitles that cleverly dissolve in trails of mist. Gluck's three-hander opera is condensed here by combining the roles of Eurydice and Amor, as if Orpheus has lost the power to differentiate between the two. Iestyn Davies is outstanding as the bereaved husband, his tireless countertenor rich and even, with memorably light and lyrical top notes. Physically he holds little back, at one point balancing on the shoulders of a cluster of acrobats. The climax, an affecting account of Che Farò Senza Eurydice, finds him abandoned on a bare stage, arms wrapped around his body as if in a straitjacket. Samantha Clarke's soprano rings out bright and frisky as Amor before turning lush and sorrowful as Eurydice. Laurence Cummings leads the Scottish Chamber Orchestra through a bracing, finely judged account of the score, the Scottish Opera Chorus matches his intensity, singing with power and discipline. Their unnerving final appearance as the bloodied Orpheus is strung up by the heels in his own private Bedlam is one of the production's most haunting images. At Edinburgh Playhouse until 16 August

British acting legend new frontrunner to play Voldemort in Harry Potter reboot

A new name has emerged as the favourite to play Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter TV reboot. HBO has already revealed the three young actors who will play Harry, Hermione and Ron, following in the footsteps of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. Meanwhile, John Lithgow is set to play headmaster Albus Dumbledore, I May Destroy You star Paapa Essiedu will be Severus Snape, and Nick Frost has been cast as Hagrid. But Potterheads are still waiting to find out who will star as the new Voldemort. The current favourite to take on the role is Matthew Macfadyen, according to Online Betting Guide. They put the Succession star at 1/1 odds, in news that comes shortly after the acclaimed actor was cast to play Voldemort in a new Harry Potter audiobook series. The first of the seven full-cast audiobooks, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, will be released by Audible on November 4, followed by Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on December 16. Meanwhile, former Doctor Who star Matt Smith and Marvel alum Paul Bettany are also tipped for the role of Voldemort in HBO's Harry Potter, both of whom enjoy 3/1 odds. Coming in behind them is Peaky Blinders' Cillian Murphy at 4/1, who previously had something of an edge after the original Voldemort actor, Ralph Fiennes, gave him his blessing. During an interview on Watch What Happens Live, Fiennes said: 'Cillian is a fantastic actor. That's a wonderful suggestion. I would be all in favour of Cillian. Yeah.' Who do you think would be the best Voldemort? Tom Hiddleston is also in the running, with odds of 5/1 — though he was previously the favourite for the role. No stranger to playing a baddie, Hiddleston is probably best known as Marvel's impish Loki. Senior TV Reporter Rebecca Cook shares her take… Tom Hiddleston's tenure as Loki in the Marvel franchise is riddled (get it) with moments proving he has a strong Voldemort performance in him. Think back to when he went full panto villain at Comic-Con in 2013, emerging from the dark with the audience eating out of the palm of his hand. He's certainly capable of playing a charismatic villain – but there's the risk his charm may soften Voldemort's edges. After all, who didn't end up secretly loving Loki, even before we were meant to? We want someone who's truly terrifying to play Voldemort. Hairs upright on the back of your neck type of thing. Perhaps an actor like Idris Elba would be a better fit, admittedly not currently in the conversation, but with a commanding presence and The Wire's Stringer Bell as proof he knows how to play a complicated villain. The show's confirmed cast, which includes Janet McTeer as Professor McGonagall, Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, and Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, have been subject to immense scrutiny already. Especially as Harry Potter creator (and the new HBO series' executive producer) JK Rowling's comments about the trans community have caused backlash from some groups. In a recent interview, The Crown's Bertie Carvel, who will star as Minister for Magic Cornelius Fudge, declined to discuss the author but did reflect on his future in the show. 'I am coming at it with a really open mind. Whether I come back [after the first series] probably depends on what the fans think. I mean, I'll be furious if it's not an amazing part.' More Trending Meanwhile, Jason Isaacs, who played Lucius Malfoy in the original Harry Potter films, has defended the casting of Paapa Essiedu as Snape after he faced racist backlash on social media. 'I've seen some people online who are being rude about him. What they're being is racist,' he said in an interview with Collider. The Harry Potter TV show will stream exclusively on Max in 2027.
