Jinkx Monsoon Calls Out J.K. Rowling's Name
When it rains, it pours. This is Broadway star and RuPaul's Drag Race alum Jinkx Monsoon, and she had a few cleverly-placed words for the author best known for creating the Harry Potter series. In a clip for her upcoming interview with Ziwe, Jinkx answered a cheeky question about whether or not J.K. Rowling would "make a good Roxy Hart in Chicago." In addition to winning Season 5 of RuPaul's Drag Race and Season 7 of Drag Race All Stars, Jinkx has starred on Broadway as Ruth in Pirates! A Penzance Musical, Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors, and "Mama" Morton in Chicago. She is set to take over as Mary Todd Lincoln in Oh, Mary! in August 2025. Jinkx feigned confusion about J.K.'s identity, seemingly addressing a larger conversation surrounding the British author's anti-trans politics. "Who is Jake? Who is he? Jake Hay Rowling?" Jinkx asked. When Ziwe pointed out that J.K. was a "she", Jinkx immediately said, "Oh, dear. That is not a feminine name in the slightest." Jinkx then suggested that J.K. intentionally misled readers about her gender. "I know that oftentimes, female authors use initials so that people assume it's a male writer," Jinkx said, before adding, "I have to presume that J.K. Rowling was unsatisfied with the way that the world saw her, and then she transitioned herself into a new personality so that the world would perceive her the way she wanted to be perceived." Ziwe and Jinkx locked eyes for a moment, and she responded, "Gagging." In a July 2017 Teen Vogue interview, J.K., whose real name is Joanne, revealed that her publisher for Harry Potter suggested she "disguise" the fact she was a woman so the book "might appeal" to all genders. The author said it didn't last long because once she got a lot of publicity and an advance from America, she was "outed as a woman." Notably, J.K. also writes The Cormoran Strike series under the pen name Robert Galbraith. Over the last few years, J.K. has made headlines for her anti-Trans comments and active campaigning against laws in the UK that would allow transgender people to change their legal gender. Earlier this year, when the UK Supreme Court unanimously ruled that the legal definition of a woman only applied to those whose biological sex is female, J.K. shared a photo with the caption, "I love it when a plan comes together." Watch the clip from Jinkx's interview with Ziwe below: The full interview airs on July 31 at 8 p.m. Eastern time.

How Royal Kids Enjoy Their Summer Holidays
Summertime is magical for kids, and the royal kids are no different. Prince William and Kate Middleton's three kids, Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, don't have to return to school until September, so they are living it up with family time, international travel, and a special stay at Balmoral Castle, where the late Queen Elizabeth II enjoyed going every year. Of course, they also likely had a big celebration for Prince George's birthday in July! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's kids Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, also have exciting summer plans, with trips to Disneyland and other fun outings. They may be royalty, but they love a lot of the things we do: like playing cards, watching sports, going to the beach, and spending as much family time as they can get. After all, summer only comes once a year, so might as well make it a good one! Discover some of the long-standing traditions and fun adventures the royal kids have planned this summer. Prince George and Princess Charlotte often go to sporting events, including the annual tennis match held in London. On July 13, the siblings attended a match with their parents, where they looked so chic and grown up in photos smiling and clapping. Trooping The Colour 2025 For the royals, the annual Trooping the Colour event in June is the unofficial kickoff to summer. This is when the country celebrates the birthday of the sovereign, and the royal family rides in a parade and watches the RAF flypast from the balcony at Buckingham Palace. It's always fun to see the kids interacting at this public event. Visiting Balmoral Castle Every year in August, the royal family heads to Balmoral Castle in Scotland for some treasured country time. This tradition has happened for over 100 years, since Prince Albert bought the estate for Queen Victoria in 1852. Queen Elizabeth II famously enjoyed summer here, and even Princess Diana would go with her kids Prince William and Prince Harry as kids. Now, William and Middleton take their three kids for summers here before the fall 2025 school semester begins in September. Royal expert Jennie Bond told OK! in 2024, 'Just like in the late queen's reign, time at Balmoral is family time. And, if the King gets the chance, he will relish the chance to hang out with his grandchildren by reading them stories, teaching them about the wildlife around them, playing cards, and enjoying picnics … weather permitting!' Enjoying Family Time at Amner Hall The summer is sure to include plenty of laid back, kid-friendly experiences at their country home of Amner Hall. Middleton shared a video last September marking the end of her chemotherapy journey, where Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis were all seen hanging out in the woods, climbing trees, playing on a swing, climbing on logs, having a picnic, playing cards, spending time with dogs, and smiling with each other. It looks like a regular summer of fun! Stag-Hunting Prince George turned 12 in July, which is the traditional age that boys participate in a gruesome ritual. Royal author Duncan Larcombe shared that the young royal might be required to take part in a 'controversial pastime long enjoyed by his ancestors,' per Express. 'The Palace has refused to comment on claims that Prince George will be initiated into one of the slightly more gruesome royal traditions this summer,' Larcombe wrote. He added, 'It was reported that he will join his father on a stag-hunting shoot while they visit the Balmoral estate this month. Traditionally, the blood of a hunter's first kill is spread on their face, a ritual that goes back centuries.' Ugh, ew! If he is made to do it, he will join in a long line of royals who have participated, including his dad and his uncle Prince Harry. Going on Beach Trips & Family Vacays Royal insider Bedell Smith told PEOPLE in June 2025 that the family enjoys spending alone time in Norfolk, where they will go to the beach. 'They have a quiet life out in Norfolk, with a lot of freedom to go to places like the beach, and no one bothers them,' Smith shared. She guessed that this summer, the Wales may also go on family vacation to the Isles of Scilly or the Caribbean, which they have done in the past. Prince William once revealed that Prince George loves scuba diving, so we bet that'll be on the vacation itinerary as well! Celebrating Prince George's Birthday Kate Middleton always makes her kids' birthdays special, and this July, the family celebrated Prince George's 12th birthday! Middleton revealed her birthday tradition on a BBC program in 2019, per The Independent: 'It's become a bit of a tradition that I stay up 'til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much,' she said. 'But I love it.' Prince George also posed for his official portait and took a silly video with his siblings. It's much less fun than the homemade cake, but he'll appreciate it one day! Watching Sports Princess Charlotte recently traveled to Switzerland to cheer on England at the UEFA Women's Euro 2025 final alongside her dad Prince William. Prince George also enjoys watching live sports with his dad, so we bet a lot more of that will happen over the summer. Going to Disneyland Going to Disneyland is a royal tradition, one that Princess Diana did with her sons Prince William and Prince Harry. Now, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have carried on that tradition with their kids Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. In June 2025, the Sussexes took their kids to Disneyland, which Markle called 'pure joy.' She shared a compilation video of the family of four enjoying rides, taking family photos, and meeting Elsa. They event went on the same Splash Mountain ride that Princess Diana took Prince William and Prince Harry on when they were little in 1993. Soaking up Family Time No matter the specifics of what they do, one thing is for sure: all the royals will be soaking up as much family time as they can over the summer holidays. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are planning on some family togetherness as well, with a source telling InTouch in June 2025, 'Meghan is leading the charge and planning all sorts of getaways for them, some with the kids and some just the two of them,' the insider told the outlet. 'She wants to go to Napa with Harry, do wine tastings, she wants to go to Big Sur and other parts of Northern California with the kids. A trip to see her close friend in Colorado is in the books. And she and Harry are even talking about visiting Canada.' Solve the daily Crossword

Prince George Was ‘The Star of the Room' at a Recent Royal Outing That Made His Parents ‘Very Proud'
As he continues learning about his future role as King of England, Prince George is taking it all in stride. He's embracing his destiny with enthusiasm and intelligence, which were both on display at a recent royal outing. Insiders revealed that the 12-year-old was the 'the star of the room' at an event, which made his parents 'very proud' — and it's clear that he's going to one day wear the crown with honor! Back in May, Prince George and his younger siblings Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, attended the 80th anniversary of VE Day in London with their parents Prince William and Kate Middleton. At the event, a D-Day veteran named Alfred Littlefield told Prince William, 'You should be very proud' after Prince George respectfully listened and asked lots of questions. More from SheKnows Princess Diana's Granddaughter Princess Charlotte Stole Her Whole Face in a Resurfaced Childhood Photo Another source at the event told Hello!, 'George was the star of the room,' the insider said. 'He was engrossed in conversation with many of the veterans, who were delighted to speak to him as well. He was enjoying it, hearing about guns and submarines and tanks.' Other family members, including the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and the Princess Royal, were at the event too, and everyone seemed really supportive of George on this serious day. 'It was a safe, familiar place,' the source told the outlet. 'William and Kate were clearly trying to give him a good experience. They both appeared protective, putting an arm around him from time to time, but they looked very proud of him by the end.' Royal author Robert Hardman told the outlet, 'It's all part of a slow, incremental move towards his destiny.' 'They've always been very clear about pacing it, not making the children do anything that puts them off the idea of being royal in the future,' Hardman continued. 'It's a case of including him in things that he'll enjoy but that also touch on his life to come. George will one day be commander-in-chief of the armed forces and will almost certainly do a bit of time in one of the forces, so meeting veterans felt very appropriate.' This isn't the first time Prince George has shown an interest in military life. In September, he took a first flying lesson at White Waltham Airfield in Maidenhead, England, where an onlooker told The Sun, 'He loved it. It's the right time to start.' The insider added that the Prince and Princess of Wales seemed happy as they looked on from the ground. 'The Royal Family has a proud tradition of flying and it looks like George is next in line,' the source said, adding, 'His parents watched George take flight from the safety of the ground but he flew with an instructor and loved it.' He's sporty and adventurous, yet serious and smart when the need arises. And, of course, charming at all times. It's clear to see that Prince George will grow up to be an amazing king!Best of SheKnows 20 Best Brands to Shop for Trendy Hipster Kids' Clothes This Summer This Is What Summer Looks Like When You're a Royal Kid Celebrity Parents Whose Kids Have Big Age Gaps Solve the daily Crossword
