Keith scores on sacrifice fly in 11th, Tigers rally to top Twins 4-3
Riley Greene hit his team-leading 28th home run to help Detroit win for the fourth time in five games and fifth in seven.
Starting at second base in the 11th inning, Keith advanced to third on a wild pitch by Erasmo Ramírez (0-1) and scored on a Torres' sacrifice fly.
Rafael Montero (1-1) got the final four outs for the Tigers.
Detroit starter Tarik Skubal overcame a shaky third inning to get through seven innings, allowing three runs. He had only three strikeouts. When he last faced the Twins on June 29, he struck out 13 in seven innings.
Edouard Julien homered before Ryan Jeffers and Luke Keaschall had RBIs in a three-run Minnesota third, but Skubal retired 13 of the final 14 hitters he faced.
After starter Bailey Ober got two quick outs in the fourth, Kerry Carpenter doubled and Greene's home run cut the Detroit deficit to 3-2.

Detroit has won 11 of its past 17 games since July 27 after losing 12 of 13 and having its division lead shrink from 14 to seven games.

The Patriots are preparing for their second preseason game this weekend against the Minnesota Vikings. The team has been in Minneapolis since Tuesday, and participated in joint practices with the Vikings on Wednesday and Thursday. The Patriots dominated in their first preseason game against the Commanders, and it would be nice to see a similar performance in preseason Week 2. Most of the starter spots and key reserves are already locked down, but there is still plenty to be sorted out at the bottom of the roster. One of the position groups that will come down to the wire is the wide receivers. We've known that Stefon Diggs, Pop Douglas, Mack Hollins, and Kyle Williams are locks for a while now, but there may be a fifth receiver who can now officially be considered a lock. Evan Lazar of recently published his 10 takeaways from joint practices, and an entire paragraph was dedicated to the receiver position. Lazar thinks Kayshon Boutte is clearly the fifth receiver after an impressive summer. 'Five wide receivers appear to be clubhouse leaders for roster spots: Stefon Diggs, Pop Douglas, Kayshon Boutte, Mack Hollins and Williams,' said Lazar. Of course, the team will likely keep six receivers, which means there's only one spot available. 'After that, Javon Baker and undrafted rookie Efton Chism III have separated into their own tier as roster candidates,' Lazar explained. 'Although he flashed as a receiver on day two, Baker's push is mostly coming from adding special teams to his repertoire, while Chism has become a favorite target for backup QB Joshua Dobbs. It'll be interesting to see if the Patriots keep both Baker and Chism on the initial roster. ' The team COULD decide to keep seven receivers, though, and it wouldn't be surprising. 'It's not unheard of to carry seven receivers. In fact, the Pats carried seven initially last season.' Chism is likely the favorite to land the sixth spot for now, as Lazar also said Chism was the best receiver on the second-team offense in practice this week. There's a good case to be made for Baker as well after Mike Vrabel praised the UCF product's performance against the Commanders. UFC heavyweight suspended for doping violation originally appeared on The Sporting News The UFC career of Alvin Hines is in serious jeopardy. The heavyweight, who lost his Octagon debut at UFC 317 earlier this year, has been suspended for a year after a failed drug test. Hines, who took a bout with Jhonata Diniz on short notice in June, tested positive for the anabolic steroid Drostanolone, the promotion announced. The test results were released by Combat Sports Anti-Doping (CSAD). MORE: Dana White still has trust with Conor McGregor to make big fights A native of Minnesota, Hines was also found to have 3a-Hydroxy-2a-methyl-5a-androstan-17-one and testosterone metabolites, as well as a metabolite of Tamoxifen, 3-Hydroxy-4-methooxytamoxifen, a hormone and metabolic modulator in his system. The tests were take from samples collected both in-competition and out-of-competition. In the release, the UFC noted that the cases reflected that Hines consumed the substances that are banned before he was signed to the UFC, but that he also failed to disclose taking them when his onboarding into the UFC Anti-Doping Program was completed just days before his bout. "Under the UFC ADP, CSAD evaluates each case and can reduce periods of ineligibility based on the athlete's degree of fault and their level of cooperation," the UFC said in a statement. " While Hines failed to disclose his prior use of these substances during onboarding, the estimated concentrations of these substances in Hines' samples were reflective that they were near the tail end of excretion and supported his explanation of their use prior to being signed to the UFC and entering the UFC registered testing pool." The suspension started on July 11, 2025 and runs for one year.
