Masterplan proposes 5-min access to essential amenities
Mumbai: The Dharavi Redevelopment plan proposes easy access to essential public amenities such as education, healthcare, retail markets and open spaces within 5, 10 and 15-minute walking distances.
Today a slum spread over 2.5 sq kms, the masterplan proposes that more than 80% of Dharavi will be within 5 minutes from a transit station, that more than 80% neighbourhoods will be within 5 minutes of a public open space, that more than 70% neighbourhoods will be within a five-minute walk to social amenities.
In a presentation to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday, Dharavi Redevelopment Project CEO and chairman of Navbharat Mega Developers Pvt Ltd S V R Srinivas put forth a blueprint for a multi-modal transit hub with Metro Lines 3 and 11 passing through the area with strengthened pedestrian and vehicular connections from Dharavi to surrounding neighbourhoods.
Five new transit points are to be created connecting T K Marg to the arterial 90-feet road by an underpass; a new road is to be developed connecting to S B Marg; the Dharavi Depot road will connect to Chunabhatti-BKC Link road; another connector will come up along the Western Railway line to Mahim Sion flyover; an underpass below the Harbour line near Mahim will connect to S B Marg; and another underpass to Sion. A plan to redevelop Mahim and Sion railway stations with concourse levels plus bus bays and taxi parking points was also presented.

At Level one, it will bisect with Metro Line 11 extension and Metro Line 8 at Level 2.
Dharavi will also have its own museum to showcase its history, art and culture besides a working women's hostel, arbitration centre, convention and cultural centre, and medicity with wellness areas.
According to Dharavi's 2016 Development Plan, there are 26 schools here which are run in temporary slum structures; only the Kamraj school in sector 3 is in a legal structure. "Students are crammed in small rooms with inadequate space and no playground facilities," states the report. The master plan proposes primary as well as secondary schools along with a community hall and library. A multi-speciality hospital will soon co-exist with an existing branch of the civic-run Sion hospital.

At work, they were telecallers who would ruthlessly target the vulnerable and the elderly by using artificial intelligence, trapping them into a vicious cycle of blackmail. Beyond office hours, the women donned an entirely different persona – a tightrope walk to balance their alleged illicit activities and their everyday lives. Jayshree, a graduate from Alwar University, allegedly worked as a key player in a sextortion gang, using her charm to lure victims into compromising situations, police said. "The racket comprised social media profile analysts, extortion callers and individuals impersonating police officers to intimidate victims with false legal threats unless they complied with extortion demands," said joint commissioner Surender Kumar. These persons allegedly employed a deceitful method to lure and exploit victims. "During interrogation by ACP Anil Sharma, they disclosed that they would initially send friend requests on Facebook and Instagram and obtain the victim's mobile number through Facebook Messenger. Subsequently, they would initiate a video call on WhatsApp, during which they would stream obscene clips, secretly recording the victim's screen and reactions using screen recording tools," said DCP (crime) Aditya Gautam. The recorded content was then used to blackmail the victim under threats of publicly circulating the video on social media platforms, thereby coercing them into transferring money, said police. The sextortion gang, allegedly led by Jahid (20), targeted victims through compromising videos, with Jayshree (24), a former SBI BPO employee, making calls and luring victims into compromising situations. Raheesh (21), Sohil (18) and Jaiveer (24) were also part of this module, cops said. Another modus operandi of the call centre was to trap people by offering fake bank loans. Initially, the telecallers, under directions from Dilshad Ali, contacted potential victims, offering them attractive loan deals. Once they gained the victim's trust, the telecaller would request identification and other personal documents via WhatsApp. The victim was then asked to make a payment through a QR code scanner under the pretext of file processing fees. After the payment was received, the victim's follow-up messages and calls were ignored. The fraudsters would then switch off their mobile devices and change their contact numbers, effectively cutting off all communication. At the heart of the operation were Ujjawal Pandey (30) and Gaurav Barua (24), who allegedly masterminded the racket. Pandey, owner of a cyber café in Krishna Nagar, began selling fake account kits and SIM cards while Barua, a graduate from Ignou, facilitated pre-activated account kit transactions, said police. Their partnership enabled the smooth functioning of the scam, with Yug Sharma (18) allegedly assisting in supplying fake SIM cards and account kits. Ali employed several telecallers, including Saurav (27), Pravesh (28), Akshita (18), Raunak (24), Dimple (20) and Pinki (24), to pose as loan service representatives and dupe customers into divulging sensitive information. Another key player, Amit, owned the call centres and is absconding. He also supervised operations, cops said.

Maharashtra to establish Mahabazar on international lines to improve efficiency of agricultural marketing system
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 3 (ANI): The Maharashtra government is planning to set up a Mahabazar in the state, inspired by international models such as Rungis International Market in Paris and Royal Flora Holland in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The project aims to modernise market management, boost exports, and improve the overall efficiency of the agricultural marketing system. The key objectives are to promote export-oriented production technologies, post-harvest management, and international-grade packaging infrastructure for fruits, vegetables, and flowers, provide vital information on certifications, quality standards, and market demands to farmers and exporters and offer guidance, training programs, and support to new exporters and farmers. A detailed study is proposed to understand modern market management, technical know-how, strategic decision-making, and their implementation, with a view to adapting these models to suit Indian requirements. The Maharashtra State Agricultural Marketing Board is actively working to boost the export of fruits, vegetables, and flowers produced in the state. It also disseminates vital information regarding certifications, quality standards, and market demands, while supporting new exporters and farmers through guidance, training programs. Earlier today, the Maharashtra government has directed all departments to prepare a vision document for 'Viksit Maharashtra 2047,' aligned with the Union Government's vision of 'Viksit Bharat 2047.' The document will focus on a phase-wise vision, with short-term, mid-term, and long-term plans to achieve the goal of a developed Maharashtra by 2047. 'This will be on the lines of the Union Government's scheme of Viksit Bharat 2047 as outlined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has set a 150-day time period from May 6 to October 2, to prepare the document, which will primarily focus on a phase-wise vision. The first phase includes a long-term vision or plan for developed Maharashtra by midterm phase includes vision or plans to prepare a plan for Maharashtra 2035, when state will complete its 75 years of its foundation. The third phase includes short term plan to prepare a vision document for October 2029, when the present government will complete its five years' term. Earlier in May, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 10th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog at Bharat Mandapam where he said that all the states should work together to make India a developed country and achieve the vision of a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047.
