OPEN// Sisi sends message to Moroccan king
CAIRO, May 28 (MENA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty delivered on Wednesday a message from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to King Mohammed VI of Morocco.
The message was handed during the top diplomat's talks with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita in Rabat at the start of an official visit.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tamim Khallaf said Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's commitment to strengthening ties with Morocco in different domains and expressed hope for promoting bilateral relations through the convocation of the High Joint Committee in Cairo and a Foreign Ministers' coordination mechanism.
He also underscored the importance of boosting economic and trade cooperation.
He praised the successful Egyptian-Moroccan Business Forum held on May 4 in Cairo, which brought together 148 companies—74 Egyptian and 31 Moroccan—and reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to following up on the forum's outcome ahead of the joint trade committee meeting scheduled for October in Cairo.
The ministers also exchanged views on regional issues, particularly the situation in Gaza with Abdelatty highlighting Egypt's efforts to halt the Israeli offensive, restore a ceasefire, ensure full humanitarian access, and implement the Arab reconstruction plan for Gaza.
He commended King Mohammed VI's leadership of the Al-Quds Committee and its support for the Palestinian cause.
The meeting also covered developments in Sudan, Libya, and the Sahel region. (MENA)

Al-Mashat Interview Panel for "Women Lead for Executives" Program at NTA
Israa Farhan Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, chaired one of the interview panels on Thursday for applicants to the 'Women Lead for Executives' program, organized by the National Training Academy (NTA) in partnership with the Ministry. This initiative is part of national efforts to qualify women for leadership roles and promote their economic, social, and political empowerment. Dr. Al-Mashat emphasized the importance of the 'Women Lead for Executives' program, which is one of the distinguished training programs provided by the NTA in cooperation with the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation. The program targets women in executive positions across various institutions, ranging in age from 22 to 50. She noted that with every round of interviews, she witnesses the advancement in the caliber of applicants and their eagerness to acquire the skills that will enable them to contribute to the prosperity and progress of our beloved nation. The Minister noted that Egyptian women have received significant attention under the leadership of H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic. This has been reflected in the launch of the National Strategy for the Empowerment of Egyptian Women 2030 and the measures that have enabled women to hold leadership positions that were previously inaccessible. She added that empowering women economically, socially, and politically does not only benefit women themselves, but yields positive results across all aspects of life in Egypt. She further explained that women's empowerment is a key component of the state's efforts to invest in human capital and develop the skills of young men and women, enhancing their ability to assume leadership positions. The state is working to integrate gender equality and women's economic and social empowerment across all development plans. As such, women's empowerment has become a core component of the economic and social development plan, as well as various strategies and programs being implemented in cooperation with bilateral and multilateral development partners. Dr. Al-Mashat added: 'Empowering women economically, socially, and politically is a significant responsibility. Women are required to constantly prove their competence and capability to hold such positions. In addition, they bear a major responsibility in encouraging more women and girls to enter various fields of work, thereby increasing women's participation in the labor market.' Dr. Rasha Ragheb, Executive Director of the NTA, welcomed Dr. Rania Al-Mashat upon her arrival at the Academy headquarters in Giza Governorate. Dr. Al-Mashat and Dr. Ragheb toured the training sessions taking place under the Support for Improvement in Governance and Management (SIGMA) program. This program is part of the effective partnership between the NTA, the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, the European Union, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The Minister took the opportunity to motivate the participants in the program, stressing the importance of the partnership between Egypt and the OECD. Israel Plans to Build 22 New Settlements in West Bank
Israa Farhan Israel has declared its intention to build 22 new settlements across the occupied West Bank, including the formal approval of previously unauthorized outposts. The decision was announced Thursday and is seen as a major expansion of Israeli presence in the territory captured during the 1967 war. Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that the move strengthens Israel's control over the area, referring to it by its biblical names, Judea and Samaria. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich also confirmed the plan, saying it would enhance Israel's hold on the eastern front, boost national security, and prevent the creation of a Palestinian state. The newly announced settlements will span the north, center, and south of the West Bank, including four positioned near the Jordanian border. Some of the areas to be rebuilt include former settlements like Homesh and Sa-Nur, which were evacuated in 2005 during Israel's disengagement from Gaza. The Israeli government, considered the most hardline in its history, says the plan is a strategic response to Palestinian attacks and a fulfilment of what it views as a historic right to the land. Palestinian groups, including Hamas, condemned the move, calling it a direct attempt to Judaize Palestinian land and a breach of international law. Human rights groups argue that this step further entrenches the occupation and eliminates prospects for a future Palestinian state. Over 500,000 settlers currently live in the West Bank among nearly 3 million Palestinians, under Israeli military control. US proposes 60-day ceasefire for Gaza
Basant Ahmed A U.S. plan for Gaza proposes a 60-day ceasefire and the release of 28 Israeli hostages alive and dead in the first week, in exchange for the release of 1,236 Palestinian prisoners and the remains of 180 dead Palestinians. The document, seen by Reuters on Friday, says the plan is guaranteed by U.S. President Donald Trump and mediators Egypt and Qatar and includes sending humanitarian aid to Gaza as soon as Hamas signs off on the ceasefire agreement. The aid will be delivered by the United Nations, the Red Crescent, and other agreed channels. On Thursday, the White House said Israel had agreed to the U.S. ceasefire proposal. Israeli media said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the families of hostages held in Gaza that Israel had accepted the deal presented by President Trump's Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff. Hamas told the outlet it was reviewing the plan and would respond on Friday or Saturday. The U.S. plan provides for Hamas to release the last 30 of the 58 remaining Israeli hostages once a permanent ceasefire is in place. Israel will also cease all military operations in Gaza as soon as the truce takes effect, it shows. The Israeli army will also redeploy its troops in stages. Deep differences between Hamas and Israel have stymied previous attempts to restore a ceasefire that broke down in March. Israel has insisted that Hamas disarm completely, be dismantled as a military and governing force, and return all 58 hostages still held in Gaza before it agrees to end the war.
