Nick Chubb to visit Houston Texans, expected to sign contingent on physical
Nick Chubb's days in Cleveland have appeared to be over for months. The only question was where the free-agent running back would end up for the 2025 season.
It appears the answer to that question will be with the Houston Texans.

Fox Sports' Jordan Schultz was the first to report Sunday that Chubb was scheduling a visit with the Texans for June 9. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport shortly after that reported the running back was expected to sign with Houston, assuming a positive outcome with his physical.
If that happens, it will signal the end of an era for one of the franchise's all-time fan favorites. It will also be the end of one of the most successful careers for a Browns player since 1999.
Chubb will depart No. 3 on the Browns' all-time rushing list with 6,843 yards in 85 career games. The only two in front of him are face-of-the-franchise Pro Football Hall of Famers Jim Brown and Leroy Kelly.
"Man, just for me, the city of Cleveland means lot," Chubb said in a conversation with the Beacon Journal on Feb. 7. "To me, it's a special place. The people in Cleveland make it great, the fans and just the people around the city. But always a special place to me in my heart. I loved it here and it will always be home, no matter what."

That Chubb's new team will likely be Houston makes for a full-circle moment. The Browns selected Chubb out of the University of Georgia with the No. 35 overall pick in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft, a pick they acquired from the Texans in exchange for taking on Brock Osweiler's contract.
The Browns had signaled their decision to move on from the franchise icon with multiple decisions over the course of the offseason. They drafted two running backs in April — Ohio State's Quinshon Judkins and Tennessee's Dylan Sampson — and reworked fourth-year pro Jerome Ford's contract to give the club more flexibility.
Injuries over the last two seasons expedited the separation. Chubb suffered a major knee injury Sept. 18, 2023, in a Week 2 game in Pittsburgh that cost him the rest of that season and the first six games of the 2024 season.
Chubb's 2024 season was then halted by a broken foot in a Week 15 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. He rushed for 332 yards and three touchdowns on 102 carries over the course of eight games.

The four-time Pro Bowler wasn't just top three in the Browns' record books in career rushing yards. His 30 100-yard rushing games are second most all-time, and his 51 career rushing touchdowns are third most.
Chubb's 5.11 yards-per-carry average is fourth highest all-time in NFL history, behind Jamal Charles (5.38), Brown (5.22) and Mercury Morris (5.19). His rushing total is the fourth highest in the NFL since 2018, behind Derrick Henry (10,189), Saquon Barkley (7,216) and Josh Jacobs (6,874).

NFL Insider Provides Update on Terry McLaurin's Holdout
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Coming off a season where they made it all the way to the NFC Championship game, the Washington Commanders have a lot of buzz around them. However, their recent momentum could be stalled due to off-field issues with one of their key players. Earlier this week, the Commanders conducted their mandatory minicamp. The majority of the team was present, but one notable absentee was wide receiver Terry McLaurin. For the second time in his career, the star wideout is holding out in hopes of landing a new contract. As of now, McLaurin is set to become a free agent after this season. Throughout this process, all the reporting suggests that the Commanders are confident this situation will rectify itself before the regular season gets underway. On Saturday morning, one NFL insider detailed the latest regarding McLaurin's standoff with the franchise. While on "SportsCenter," Jeremy Fowler dove into McLaurin's continued absence from the Commanders. He cited that the organization still values him and doesn't want him playing anywhere else but Washington. Terry McLaurin #17 of the Washington Commanders celebrates after scoring a touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens during the fourth quarter at M&T Bank Stadium on October 13, 2024 in Baltimore, Maryland. He's been unhappy with his contract situation," Fowler said. "I talked to somebody with the team that said look, we want McLaurin to be a Commander for life. It's just been probably a little slower than everyone expected. These are hard deals to do." Minicamp roundup on @SportsCenter -J.J. Both sides worked things out three years ago, and he continued to be a foundational piece of the organization after. McLaurin has been a primary weapon in the Commanders' offense for years now and is among the most consistently productive receivers in the NFL. McLaurin is coming off a 2024 campaign where he caught a career-high 13 touchdowns along with racking up his fifth-straight 1,000-yard season. At this point, the Commanders aren't in a position to let things end any other way than re-signing McLaurin. With Jayden Daniels quickly emerging as a premiere quarterback in the NFL, Washington is looking to compete right away. They added another high-end talent in Deebo Samuel this offseason, but it would be for not if McLuarin continues to hold out. Seeing that McLaurin and Daniels had an instant connection last year, Washington should be looking to get him back in the mix as soon as possible. With minicamp over now, the Commanders have about six weeks to ink McLaurin to a new deal before training camp begins.

Chiefs Star Travis Kelce Has Made Huge Physical Change
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Kansas City Chiefs and star tight end Travis Kelce are back together for at least one more season. Despite offseason retirement rumors, Kelce has decided to run it back for the 2025 season, and his future is not decided after the upcoming campaign. After coming up short in the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles, Kelce wants to make another run. Entering the upcoming season, he's doing everything he can to get back to playing at an elite level after a down year in 2024. Kelce has made a major change ahead of the 2025 season. Photo byAs shared by ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, the Chiefs' tight end has made a major change to his physical appearance. He has slimmed down considerably. Read more: Vikings QB JJ McCarthy Called Out in Brutally Honest Breakdown Fowler revealed the update on Kelce during an appearance on "SportsCenter." "The Chiefs knew that Kelce was going to be gone this week," Fowler said. "He's expected back for minicamp. He'll address the media, be on the practice field—all that fun stuff. And he will debut a bit of a slimmer look. He's told people close to him that he's lost about 25 pounds this offseason." Working his way into better shape could be exactly what Kelce needs to get back on track. His numbers last season were solid, but not great. Speaking of his 2024 season, Kelce played in 16 games. He caught 97 passes for 823 yards and three touchdowns. Again, there's nothing to be upset about from those numbers, but Kelce has produced a lot more than that throughout his career. He's looking to take every step he can to lead Kansas City back to the Super Bowl and to take the next step to add another ring. Kelce believes he can still play at a very high level and make a major impact. "I still feel like I can play at a high level and possibly at a higher level than I did last year," Kelce said. "I don't think it was my best outing, you know? I think I let my guys down in a lot more moments than I helped them, especially if you look at my track record and how I've been in years past. You know, I want to give it a good run. I got a bad taste in my mouth about how I ended the year and how well I was playing, and how accountable I was for the people around me." It will be interesting to see what the 2025 season has in store for Kelce and the Chiefs. He's working hard to increase his individual performance, and dropping 25 pounds could help him become a much more dynamic weapon for Patrick Mahomes. 86 days until the Texans' 2025 season opener: Who has worn No. 86?
86 days until the Texans' 2025 season opener: Who has worn No. 86? The Houston Texans are less than 100 days away from kicking off the 2025 season in Los Angeles against the Rams at SoFi Stadium and we're counting down the days until a victory ensues on the west coast. Texans Wire will each day tell you which player has worn the number of the day leading up to kickoff and pick the player who ensured the number best during their time at NRG Stadium. As for today, let's take a look at who has won No. 86 since the inaugural season in 2002. Texans players to wear No. 86 No. 86 currently belongs to tight end Dalton Schultz. After a mixed career with the Dallas Cowboys, Schultz signed a one-year, prove-it deal in 2023 with the Texans. That season, he became a breakout security blanket for C.J. Stroud, catching 9 passes for 63 yards. The next offseason, he inked a three-year, $36 million extension. An underwhelming 2024 season has put eyes on Schultz's long-term status for beyond 2025. Because of his contract, Schultz will make the team this fall, but second-year pick Cade Stover out of Ohio State could take over a majority of first-team reps. But is Schultz the best player to ever wear the No. 86 in a Texans' uniform? Right now, he's close. TE Dalton Schultz (2023-present) TE Mason Schereck (2022) WR Jester Weah (2018) TE James Casey (2009-2012 WR Jabar Gaffney (2002-2005) Best Player: Jabar Gaffney. Schultz with a solid season will likely take over this spot in 2026, but Gaffney's role as a No. 2 receiver in the early stages of the team's tenure. Gaffney never took over games and was constantly dealing with injuries, but he averaged 42 catches over four seasons. He also finished with seven touchdowns and averaged 13.8 yards per attempt. Gaffney wasn't re-signed after his rookie contract was up, but many older Texans fans remember his impact as the secondary option behind Andre Johnson. With few options, it's a process of elimination for
