I'm sorry Princess: Kieran Hayler's heartfelt apology to Princess Andre after she blamed his split from Katie Price on her battle with drug addiction and suicide attempt
The personal trainer, 38, told the Daily Mail he has been saddened by the recent revelations from Princess, 18, who explained the toughest time in her life was when Katie's marriage to Kieran broke down after he confessed to cheating with multiple women.
Speaking in her new ITV2 show The Princess Diaries, the influencer recalled watching her mother's decline following her split from Kieran, saying Katie was 'heartbroken' and suffered 'dark times', which led to her battles with drug addiction, post-traumatic stress disorder, and attempted suicide.
Princess said: 'He was in our lives for five years, so we got really close to him, obviously we loved him, he did a lot of stuff and when they split up everything went downhill. My mum was obviously heartbroken, she didn't deal with that the best way, she went through a very, very dark time which was understandable.'
And now, Kieran has admitted he 'regrets' cheating on Katie with the TV star's former best friend Jane Pountney and their ex-nanny Nikki Brown, saying it became impossible to shield Junior, 20, and Princess, whose father is singer Peter Andre, from the devastation that ensued.
Kieran, who shares Jett, 12, and Bunny, 11, with Katie, said leaving the marital home where he lived with Junior and Princess for five years was 'one of the hardest things I ever had to do' and he's deeply sorry to the children for failing to protect them.
He said: 'It makes me feel so sad. I am as sorry as I can be to Princess witnessing us go through such a horrible separation. Leaving them was one of the hardest things I ever had to do.
'I would love to apologise and really know how she felt during that time when mine and Kate's marriage broke down.
'It's difficult isn't it but I would like to reach out. I would love to support Princess and when I have time I will sit down and watch her show.
'Whenever any marriage breaks down and one parent has to leave the house, it rocks those children's worlds, it's really sad. I went into my marriage wanting a happily ever after, no one goes into a marriage wanting it to break down and end but ultimately as much as it impacted the adults, it disrupted and affected the children.
'When I left, it wasn't that was it, end of, point blank, I always made sure I kept in touch.
'It's hard, when they're your stepchildren, naturally that bond disappears over time, you have played a massive part in their life but Princess is 18 now, life moves on and you no longer play a role in their lives anymore.
'But when I look back, I believe I was the best stepfather that I could have been to them. I was respectful to Pete, I hope that's how they see me as well.'
Katie and Kieran were married from January 2013 to March 2021 when the couple's divorce was finalised but their relationship only lasted five years.
In 2017, Katie spoke on ITV's Loose Women about the end of her marriage to Kieran, saying: 'As everyone knows, I caught him having an affair with our nanny, for a year, sleeping with her in my house, so here I am again.'
She added: 'My kids are older, they know what's going on. He's hurt me once and I don't deserve it, it's happened again.'
In the aftermath of their split, Katie suffered a mental breakdown, bankruptcy, and turned to alcohol and drugs as a way of coping.
She received a 16-week suspended sentence in 2021 after flipping her car while under the influence of cocaine and alcohol, later apologising for her actions.
Katie has claimed one of the reasons she ended up bankrupt was because her three ex-husbands, which include Pete, Alex Reid and Kieran, were all 'on her case' but she shut herself off to the world, which only made situations worse.
In 2023, she said: 'When you're having a breakdown and you're suicidal, you shut the world off. You don't talk to anyone, you don't answer your phone, you don't open your letters, and before you know it you'll have a bailiff at your door. Then the work stops because your head's not there to do it.'
Speaking about the way his marriage ended, Kieran said: 'I regret it, of course I do.
'The trouble is with me is I have never spoken about the things that happened in the relationship to make me behave the way I did.
'A lot of that is out there and it's one sided, I have never spoken honestly and truthfully about why those things happened and that's because I am trying to move on and protect the children, it's not just Junior and Princess, it's Jett and Bunny too.
'When it comes to children and adult situations, they should be kept private and as away from the children as much as possible. But that was very difficult because our lives were exposed publicly.
'That was one of the hardest parts about it, I personally wasn't able to protect them and shield them from that.
'Look, it's difficult. Of course, I regret the way things happened but at the same time those are issues I never put around the children, they were put around the children by everything becoming so public. No one could get away from it and it gets dragged up all the time, which is really difficult for the children involved.'
Princess is managed by The Can Group, the agency behind her father Peter's success, and Katie believes they have purposely excluded her from having any say in her daughter's career
Kieran moved on from his marriage to Katie with Michelle Pentecost who he was engaged to wed until last October when the couple announced they had separated.
They share son Apollo, three, who they continue to co-parent, while Kieran says he owes being in Junior and Princess's lives for his ability to be a good father today.
He said: 'I loved them like they were my own children. I really did care, and I was invested in both of their lives.
'I did a lot for them, I did the school run, I would take Junior to football, me and Princess would go out riding on the horses, it was a big lifestyle change for them when I left.
'I had a good rapport with Pete, there was never any friction, if something had happened like at school I would ring up Pete, if one of the kids were naughty and I felt as their stepfather I couldn't tell them off, I would call Pete.
'It was the first time I had children in my life. I have to thank them really because they moulded me into the dad that I have become today.'
Kieran says he saw Princess at a celebrity event in December and it wasn't awkward between the pair, revealing: 'We spoke to each other, I gave her a cuddle, and I would be exactly the same with Junior. Nothing ended badly between me and the children.'
Last week ahead of The Princess Diaries airing on ITV2, Katie expressed her upset and distress over not filming for the show, claiming she offered to be part of her daughter's TV debut but was rejected.
Princess is managed by The Can Group, the agency behind her father Peter's success, and Katie believes they have purposely excluded her from having any say in her daughter's career over their view she's 'trash.'
On her podcast, she said: 'I am very, very, very upset that Princess has signed with them when she was 16 I wasn't asked to look at any contracts so I don't know what contract Princess has signed because it's all to do with that side.
'People need to realise with that management and Pete I am very disrespected as a mum, very disregarded, in fact, I am nothing to them and never will be.'
It has led to feud claims between Katie and Princess, who told the Daily Mail last week that there is 'no rift' with her mother.
When asked whether he agrees that Katie should have been kept out of the series, Kieran said: 'This is Princess's career and it's down to her management and the TV company on what they want, it's her show, so that's how it works.
'Princess is credible and needs to take her own path, rather than follow her mum, it's down to her to create her own pathway.
'Princess and Junior are so respectable, Princess is well spoken, she's a really kindhearted young woman and it's great to see that and know that I had a part in their upbringing, it makes me proud.'
Kieran says he has been attempting to rebuild his life following his divorce and split from Michelle, attending weekly therapy sessions to understand where his past relationships went wrong.
And has Princess speaking on his former marriage brought back traumatic memories for Kieran, who now lives a quiet life away from the cameras?
He said: 'I have done six months' worth of therapy and I am past all of this now. For me, I am quite comfortable being able to watch this and know the reasons why I did things.
'Maybe that wasn't the right thing to do at the time but now I know why I did it and how I can be better going forward. I'm talking about the mistakes I made in the relationship...
'It's good for men to talk, they don't talk enough after coming out of relationships and marriages, a lot of blame goes towards the man but actually there's always two people and many reasons for why a relationship breaks down.'

Clara Amfo reveals depression battle led to her quitting BBC Radio 1 as she became 'burnt out and in a negative headspace' after eight years on air
Clara Amfo has revealed that depression led to her quitting her BBC Radio 1 show after eight years on air. The presenter, 41, revealed that she struggled with her mental health after becoming 'burnt out' due to the toll of her career. Clara, who spent a decade as a DJ and regularly fronts shows including the BBC's Glastonbury coverage, admitted she was in a 'negative headspace' at the time and needed a 'little reset'. Speaking to Fearne Cotton on the Happy Place podcast, she said: 'I was burnt out, I wasn't taking care of myself properly and I think I was a bit overwhelmed by life's injustices. 'I just wasn't feeling great and I was in a bit of a negative headspace. 'The start of 2023, I was in the flipping trenches. I was feeling really, really depressed sort of mid-2023 and I took some time off radio, and just had to have a little reset. That is when I decided I was going to leave my show.' Clara, first joined Radio 1 as a DJ and later hosted the Live Lounge, The Official Chart on Radio 1, and her 1Xtra programme. Clara also addressed the pressures of working in high-profile broadcasting as she said she never wanted to 'resent' the job. She added: 'I had mixed reactions. Obviously our bosses, who are lovely, were like 'But why?' 'I'm one of these people where I am so passionate about what I do that I never want to resent anything, I don't want anything to feel like it's forced or a chore. 'And I want to be able to listen to music always as a fan, rather than as a business, and I want to be able to talk to people on a human level without thinking, 'Got to get that viral interview clip'.' Clara left Radio 1 in 2023, marking the end of a decade-long chapter that included championing new artists through her 'hottest record' feature. At the time, she said: 'I'm so proud of the work I've been able to do on every show, whether it's been from the 8th floor, a city in the UK or a pop star's house across the pond. I'm grateful to have had the ears of the listeners who have consistently shown up for me. 'I'm enamoured by everyone I've had the privilege of working alongside for each and every broadcast. 'I'm energised and excited for my next chapter as part of the network and beyond.' It comes after Clara revealed that she 'debated having liposuction ' after 'getting in her own head' about her body image. The presenter candidly discussed her relationship with her body image as she covered the December edition of UK Women's Health last year. In the accompanying interview, Clara reflected on how she thought her career 'would be different' if she looked a certain way. The broadcaster explained how she 'tries to stop herself' from constantly thinking about her body in an industry that is 'obsessed' with people's appearances. She said: 'If I had done all these things but I existed in a different body, maybe had a looser hair pattern, or if I was a few shades lighter, I wonder if my career would be different, and I wonder if I would get treated better.' 'I'll be so real with you, I was debating having lipo. I won't lie, towards the end of last year – because I got in my head, I had the consultation and everything.' Explained what stopped her, she added: 'I obsessively research things, and I was just looking at all the times when it had gone wrong for people. I think I scared myself out of it, to be honest.' In the UK, private liposuction surgery can cost between £2,000 and £6, op, which tends to last a few hours, involves removing unwanted body fat by inserting a tube under the skin and sucking out small areas of fat. After bruising and swelling from the operation has healed, the areas treated visibly shrink. Recovery can take weeks. Graduating with a media arts degree in 2006, Clara joined Kiss FM as a marketing intern in 2007, progressed to stand-in presenter. She then secured a role as drivetime host, leading to BBC Radio 1 Extra in 2013 and her daytime Radio 1 show in 2015.

Butterfly theme, Nicola's dress & Instagram snaps… all Brooklyn & Nicola Peltz's savage wedding renewal digs at Beckhams
GAZING adoringly into each other's eyes, the secret 'second wedding' of Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham may be their most savage move yet. The nuptials, to which none of the Beckhams were invited, have been labelled 'deliberately provocative' and straight out of 'the Prince Harry manual'. 8 8 8 And it could be the snub that severs Brooklyn's ties with his famous family, including parents David and Victoria, once and for all. It would seem that every part of the couple's vow renewal — from the butterfly theme to the chosen officiator and the dress, which Nicola splashed all over Instagram — was a blow to Posh, Becks and their other kids Romeo, Cruz and Harper. They will need to rely on cringeworthy 'wedding' snaps posted online for a glimpse of the hype on Brooklyn's big day, including one photo featuring a topless Nicola with her mum Claudia Heffner. In it, the 'bride' wears only a pair of skimpy knickers and presses her boobs against her former fashion model mother's back. One follower said it gave her 'the total ick' and looked 'more like a mum & daughter OnlyFans shoot'. It was captioned with clinking champagne glass emojis and six swans, which symbolise wisdom, love and grace. Some suspect it could be a veiled dig at the Beckhams. 'No way back' Conspiracy theorists reckon it might reference Brothers Grimm fairytale The Six Swans, in which a king's daughter is forced to remain silent for six years to free her siblings from a witch's spell. That story of love, sacrifice, perseverance and the power of inner strength against the odds is, according to some, similar to Nicola and Brooklyn's situation. Others believe the butterfly theme at the couple's reception could hold meaning as it traditionally symbolises rebirth, transformation and freedom — hinting that the Beckham chapter is firmly closed and there is no way back. Watch the moment Brooklyn Beckham 'proposes' to Nicola Peltz before vow renewal And it certainly seems the road for a return could be blocked, with all of Brooklyn's nearest and dearest noticeably absent from the lavish vows do at the Peltzes' Westchester County mansion. Nepo baby pals Rocco Ritchie, Jack Ramsay and Anais Gallagher were also missing from the guest list. Not even Brooklyn's adored godfather Sir Elton John, who tried to act as peacekeeper, was there. Instead, it was Peltzes galore, including Nicola's six brothers, and surprising invitees including A-list actor Adrien Brody, fashion designer Alexander Wang and Katy Perry's hair colourist Daniel Moon. Fans noted the awkward array of pals and that the groom wasn't even centre-stage in one picture, writing: 'Brooklyn looks like a guest at his own 'second wedding'.' In fact, the only 'friend' there seemed to be Jeremy Clerc, who owns an assisted living business and featured in a 2020 Instagram post captioned, 'love you guys'. So it appears to be a case of out with the old UK pals, and in with the rich red, white and blue. It's a clear sign of who Brooklyn, 26, now prioritises and considers his new inner circle. PR guru Mark Borkowski tells The Sun: 'He's swapped the Brit pack tribal connections for Nicola's billionaire bubble. 'It's a move straight from the Prince Harry manual — ditch the old circle, live in your spouse's world and curate a new reality.' Tensions have escalated between the Peltz-Beckhams and Brooklyn's family since the couple first tied the knot in a lavish £3million affair in Palm Beach, Florida, in 2022. A source told Entertainment Tonight that Nicola, 30, was 'thrilled to marry Brooklyn' again on August 2 'because their wedding didn't go the way she imagined due to family drama'. This was the final kick in the teeth for David and Victoria. It feels cruel and spiteful. This is no longer a game. It's gone beyond all that A source It followed claims that Victoria hijacked the first dance at the original nuptials after Marc Anthony, who was performing at the event, invited her on to the stage — referring to her as 'the most beautiful woman in the room'. The source added: 'This time, they didn't have to deal with outside opinions on what Nicola wore, first dance issues or general struggles to control things.' The insider claimed the couple 'focused on their own happiness' instead of trying to 'make everyone happy'. But Brooklyn's family did not know a thing about the renewal until it featured on a US news site, according to another source. 'This was the final kick in the teeth for David and Victoria,' they said. 'It feels cruel and spiteful. 'This is no longer a game. It has gone beyond all that.' 8 8 The Beckhams now 'see no way back' and question whether the couple will 'revert to Peltz' and ditch their surname altogether, the source revealed. Brooklyn is incredibly close with his wife's brood and even had the renewal officiated by her billionaire father Nelson, 83 — said to be 'heartbreaking' for David, who feels replaced. They are ostracising Brooklyn's family in another push away. They seem to be saying, 'There is no way back' Behavioural psychologist Jo Hemmings Nicola's captions on two of a stream of pictures focusing on the occasion included, 'this day meant so much to us' and, 'only love', which deepened the wound even further. 'Imagine being the parents of Brooklyn and seeing this, so heartbreaking,' one follower posted after seeing the snaps. Behavioural psychologist Jo Hemmings says the service and subsequent pic-sharing looked like a 'deliberate provocative gesture'. She told The Times: 'They are ostracising Brooklyn's family in another push away. They seem to be saying, 'There is no way back'.' In fact, neither Nicola nor Brooklyn has extended an olive branch this year in spite of peacemaking attempts by David. They did not wish either of his parents a happy birthday on social media, but gushed, 'we love you' on Nelson's big day in June. And they did not even congratulate David on his much yearned-for knighthood. In fact, the last photo featuring the couple with the Beckhams was shared on Boxing Day. In the eight months since, Nicola has posted a total of 415 pictures and videos — not one including Victoria, David or any of Brooklyn's siblings. There was no, 'You were missed' in picture captions from the vow renewal, unlike David wrote when his son skipped multiple celebrations for his 50th birthday, including one nearby in Miami. And the perceived digs do not end there. Speculation surrounding the family rift was further fuelled by Nicola's butterfly-adorned reception dress — which some think was a snub to Victoria, who has her own fashion brand. 8 8 Indeed, it was the latest in a string of 'wedding' outfits Nicola has worn which did not come from her mother-in-law's label. This time she upcycled the gown her mum wore as a bride in 1985. Spectators have called it Nicola's 'revenge dress' after she claimed Victoria had offered to design her original gown — then allegedly 'blanked her for days' before saying her firm couldn't do the job. Despite the hurt, none of the outfits that Nicola wore over her weekend-long wedding celebrations in 2022 were by Victoria's label. Instead, the model, who 'was painted as a brat' over the alleged fiasco, opted for a Valentino Haute Couture wedding gown, a trio of Versace numbers and a Dior bridal suit. And this time, Nicola was clearly doubling down by wearing two non-VB outfits. Brooklyn's appearance may also sting for his family — as of his 100 tattoos, 70 are dedicated to Nicola and her family, including her late grandma Gina. He also camouflaged a 'mama's boy' tattoo on his heart with flowers. It's yet another sign of Brooklyn's life being overtaken by the Peltzes, which likely leaves the Beckhams feeling sidelined. Mark Borkowski says the vow renewal ceremony was more like 'a soft launch for the Peltz brand' than a touching family reunion and that the Beckham name was 'parked at the . . . diamond-encrusted gates' of the billionaire Peltzes mansion. It seems Brooklyn's family were not even referenced and played no part in the event. Ditching 'the Beckham dynasty', which Mark considers a 'golden ticket', is risky. But Brooklyn seems unfazed as he is drawn deeper into his wife's family. In a video posted by the wannabe chef in May, he called wife Nicola 'my whole world', adding, 'I always choose you'. There's no doubt where Brooklyn's loyalties lie now. And after his controversial vow renewal, the door back to the Beckhams appears very much nailed shut. 8 Brook wants to cut family adrift By Sally Land BROOKLYN Beckham has sent a message loud and clear that he is drawing a line under his former life. His recent marriage vows renewal with Nicola – after just three years – should have been a time of celebration for both his and his wife's familes. But the occasion was entirely dominated by his in-laws the mega-wealthy Peltz clan. Not one member of his own family was invited to the occasion, and none of his former friends and associates were included either. This is a man who is determined to cut himself adrift from his parents, his siblings and grandparents. While his bride's family have seemingly enveloped him with open arms, by turning his back towards his own parents, his brothers and sister, he has severed a key support line. For while we often dislike or disagree with what our loved ones tell us, they are most likely to be the ones who truly have our best interests at heart. None of us really know what goes on within the walls of other family's homes but for a family to be rejected by one member is truly painful. All the Beckhams can do is keep quietly reassuring Brooklyn that they love him and that when the time is right, welcome him back without reservation. Being rejected by a loved one, or living as an estranged adult carries huge social stigma and regularly leads to a deep sense of isolation. Princess Andre takes TWO swipes at mum Katie Price as she reveals what she would not do to follow in her footsteps
PRINCESS Andre has taken not one, but TWO subtle swipes at her mum Katie Price. The 18-year-old reality star, is paving her own way in the world of showbiz after releasing her series The Princess Diaries on ITV this week. 7 7 7 In episode four of her new show, she revealed what she will never do to follow in the footsteps of her mum, former glamour model Katie, 47. And it didn't end with just one veiled dig, because there were two in the first 15 minutes of the episode. The swipes come as the mother and daughter duo are currently battling through a tricky patch in their relationship, as exclusively revealed by The Sun. Just five minutes into the fourth episode of The Princess Diaries, Princess said she would never do glamour modelling like her mum did. On set for a photoshoot to commemorate her 18th birthday, Princess donned an array of stunning outfits. One of the outfits was a very sheer robe, which left her dad Peter red-faced when she face-timed him. After posing up a storm in the sheer robe, Princess reflected on her mum's modelling career. Saying how she felt in her zone while posing up a storm, Princess confessed: "I felt like my mum." She explained how she had previously seen snaps of her mum modelling when she was younger, and how her shoot reminded her of that. Taking a subtle swipe, Princess then said: "But obviously she did topless. And I would not do topless." Princess Andre admits she's 'not over her ex' as she opens up on split after she goes on a date with new boy Then, later on in the episode, Princess seemingly took a second swipe at her mum when she gushed over how she goes to her stepmum Emily for advice. "Ems is like the best at advice," Princess gushed in the second part of the episode. She went on: "I feel like, if I'm ever in a situation that I don't want to talk to dad about, I'll speak to Ems about it." Princess said this before discussing her boy troubles with her stepmum following her split from her boyfriend. 7 7 7 Elsewhere in the episode, Princess became upset when she and her mum made headlines. It was reported, at the time of filming, that Princess did not invite her mum to her birthday party. Princess slammed the claims and urged that she had never spoken badly of her mum. She added how she would never want her mum and dad in the same room as it would be "awkward". Princess noted how if she had a party where her mum was present, she would not want her dad there, and if she had a party where her dad was present, she would not want her mum there. This comes as Princess and her mum Katie navigate a rift. Katie previously vented about those working with her daughter after The Sun revealed her secret heartache about being cut out of her TV show. She even vowed not to watch her daughter's reality show, after feeling left out of such an important thing in Princess' life. Then, earlier this week, Katie shared a cryptic message saying 'your mum is not your enemy'. Sharing a quote on her Instagram stories, Katie urged that as a mum she is "not trying to control" but instead "trying to protect" The quote also acknowledged how she "may not be perfect" but is "the only woman in this world" who wants the best for her children. The post Katie shared began with: "Your mum is not your enemy." It went on: "She may not always say things the way you want to hear them, but her heart is always in the right place. "She's the one who worries when you're hurting, prays when you're lost, and stands by you even when the world doesn't. "She's not trying to control you. She's trying to protect you." The cryptic quote concluded: "She may not be perfect, but she's the only woman in this world who truly wants what's best for you, even if it costs her everything." 7
