And that's not a slight on the Ibrox club, but rather that he wants the club to bag top dollar for their prized asset.
SunSport revealed that Posh winger Poku (and Bournemouth full-back Max Aarons) are on the brink completing deals to move to Gers.
Ghana international Poku, 23, was a standout for Peterborough last season with 12 goals and eight assists.
He was named in the League One team of the year and ahead of the transfer window opening he was attracting interest from England, Scotland and the continent.
Posh director of football Fry, 80, is one of Poku's biggest fans.
And he's told the Rangers supporters why they'd love him too.
Even if it means his team missing out on a bigger cheque.
In an interview with the Daily Record, Fry said: 'Kwame's top drawer. The Rangers fans would absolutely love him if he went up to Scotland.
'He's a very, very skilful player. A very exciting player. He gets the ball and you get on the end of your seat. You expect things to happen when he is in possession.
'I think wherever he goes, he'll be a fan's favourite because he's such an exciting player.
'He scores goals too and creates them. He's a lovely lad and I've really enjoyed him being at the club.
'In truth I could have sold him on January 1. There was a dozen top clubs in the Championship, wanted him then to push forward, but he was injured. He never played until the end of March.
'He still got in the League One Team of the Year, and he missed almost half the games through injury.
'So it just shows you what an outstanding player he is at our level.'
Due to FIFA rules on compensation fees between clubs for players they have developed, only a move to another English side would see Peterborough max out the money they could receive for Poku.
Big-spending Birmingham City - who Poku helped tear apart in the Football League Trophy final - have been one of the teams most keen on him as they prepare for their assault on the Championship.
If Poku was to move to Rangers (or abroad) then they would only be entitled to around £300,000.
Gers followed a similar path when bringing Joe Aribo to Glasgow from Charlton Athletic in 2018.
That's why Fry hopes he'll choose another English club.
He said: 'Well, I would (want him to choose an English club), but then again, it's not up to me. It's up to his agent and what Kwame wants to do.
'I know Russell Martin very well, because we bought him from Wycombe, and we sold him to Norwich, before he helped Norwich get up to the Premier League.
'I haven't seen much of Rangers, but I know Russell likes football players. And Kwame is a very good football player.
'I've not heard from Russell. But he's got no need to ring me, in all honesty. I'd heard before that Celtic were in for him too.
'But I know Brendan very well, and I know Gavin Strachan, who used to be Darren's assistant down here. None of them phoned me about him.'
Peterborough signed Poku from Colchester United in 2021 and Fry reckons he's grown into a player capable of playing in the Premier League.
Asked about the chances of that happening, Fry said: 'One million percent.
'He's only 23 so I've no doubt he'll get there.
'He's a lovely boy, and he's got tremendous potential to go to the top. But wherever he goes next, he's got to play.'

Stephen Robinson has changed expectations at St Mirren, says Shamal George

The Buddies keeper has been impressed with the past achievments of the Northern Irishman and says he now understands why players succeed under him. St Mirren goalkeeper Shamal George says the expectation at the club has that is thanks to Stephen Robinson. ‌ The Saints No 1 was on hand to help his side past Derek McInnes' Hearts in a dramatic penalty shoot-out at the SMiSA Stadium on Saturday when he stopped Claudio Braga's spot kick. ‌ It was a save that allowed new boy Malik Dijksteel to later step up and slot away his effort, sending the Black and White Army into a frenzy. ‌ Robinson's men will now travel to face Stuart Kettlewell's Kilmarnock in the quarter-finals of the Premier Sports Cup. The club is now potentially 90 minutes away from marching on towards Hampden, and George has pointed out the club has been on an upward trajectory since the Northern Irish boss walked through the doors. 'He's a great manager, a great guy. I know he's signed a new contract so I'm really happy for him,' he said. 'Clearly, he's doing something right when St Mirren are getting to the top six for three years in a row. 'Previously, St Mirren were just about expected to stay up. But we know, inside here, that we can do more than that and we're going to try and do that again this season. 'It's rare in football these days for managers to stay with a club for this long, so this is great. He deserves it and is doing a great job.' The 27-year-old further compared Robbo to his old gaffer at Livingston, David Martindale, who was also awarded a new contract in the same week as Robinson. ‌ George, who spent two seasons in West Lothian between 2022 and 2024, has pointed out how both managers have the X-Factor, allowing them to succeed at their respective clubs. He said: 'The only one I know [succeeding for as long] would be David Martindale. They've got their way of playing. I know in the Championship, Livingston were playing a bit more football and it worked for them. 'He's got his own style and our gaffer has his own style of play and it's effective. It works. They're both doing plenty of things right to get the results. They are both demanding, they work you hard but you have to be. 'Success doesn't come easy so you've got to put demands on each other. Obviously, it's been working for both of them, and all the best to them both.'

But for one of their ex-targets who didn't end up moving to Ibrox, it's looking like it'll be a long season on the sidelines. 3 Russell Martin has been busy in the transfer market at Rangers Credit: Getty 3 One of the signings he's missed out on has suffered a serious injury at his new club 3 Gers were beaten to his signing out of Belgium by a Serie A club Credit: AFP Rangers were linked with then-Westerlo striker Matija Frigan earlier in this window. Gers were even preparing to table a bid of £6million to the Belgian side for the forward. He even went on to reveal later that month that the move would interest him due to the nature of Scottish football. Frigan said: "That style of league would suit me, I think I'm a player for that type of football." Gers were eventually beaten to the signing when Serie A side Parma stumped up close to €10million for his services. He made his debut for the Italians at the weekend, coming off the bench in a 2-0 victory over Pescara in the Coppa Italia. But now, Frigan looks set for a lengthy spell on the sideline, as his new club announced in a statement that the striker has suffered a dreaded ACL injury. They said: "Parma Calcio's medical staff announces that this morning, during a training session at the Mutti Training Center in Collecchio, Matija Frigan was interrupted due to a sprain to his left knee. "Following tests performed this afternoon, the striker has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Meanwhile, another missed transfer target for Gers has signed for a new club - just days after his Ibrox move collapsed. Nobel Mendy had been set to swap Real Betis for Rangers, with a medical arranged for the defender after a £2.5million deal had been agreed. But a reported issue with the medical saw the deal fall through, and Mendy has now signed for Rayo Vallecano on loan. Simon Jordan dismisses 'foolish' Rangers expectation as Russell Martin moaners told even Pep couldn't work Ibrox miracles

Some fans are calling for Martin to be sacked after just a few games following the 3-1 Champions League playoff defeat to Brugge Simon Jordan has told any Rangers fans expecting Russell Martin to have fixed all their problems by now are "bloody foolish." ‌ The Ibrox boss is on the end of a Champions League backlash after a first leg playoff defeat at home to Club Brugge. ‌ Some woeful defending from the hosts saw the Belgians race into a 3-0 lead after just 20 minutes, sparking an early exit for a number of fans. ‌ And despite Danilo's strike early in the second half, the Light Blues have given themselves a mountain to climb in Belgium in order to qualify for the League Phase and bank the £40million jackpot that comes with it. It's not as if Martin can point to a strong domestic start either, having drawn both of his games away to Motherwell and at home to Dundee respectively. With Rangers having backed out of a request to postpone Sunday's trip to St Mirren in order to aid their Champions League ambitions, the pressure is on to pick up maximum points in Paisley. But talkSport host Jordan is attempting to inject some realism into the hysteria, warning that not even the best bosses on the planet could have transformed Rangers in such a short space of time. He said: 'Now, going to the situation with Rangers, the two goals being referred to, he can't do much about the communication between a goalkeeper and a centre-back, and he can't do much about players not doing their jobs besides drilling it into them over a period of time. ‌ 'And if anybody feels you can fix a team's ails and challenges in six games, then they're bloody foolish. Because no one can do it. You can get the best manager in the world, you can get Guardiola in there, and he will not get exactly what you require of the players.'
