Raj Thackeray visits Matoshree to wish 'big brother' Uddhav Thackeray on birthday
Raj Thackeray
and Shiv Sena (UBT) chief
Uddhav Thackeray
came together against a govt decision to introduce Hindi in schools from class 1 to 5, Raj visited Matoshree, the Thackeray residence in Bandra East to wish his 'big brother' Uddhav happy birthday.
In yet another display of bonhomie, Uddhav welcomed Raj with a warm hug and Raj gave Uddhav a bouquet of red roses on his 65th birthday. Raj visited Matoshree for the first time since he split from the Shiv Sena and formed the MNS in 2006.
After the courtesies, Raj and Uddhav spoke for close to 20 minutes and Raj's visit is being seen as a cementing factor in the MNS-Sena (UBT) alliance for the local body polls slated for Nov-Dec this year.
Political observers said that Raj and Uddhav meeting twice in less than a month is a clear indication that after a family reunion, a political reunion was on the cards and could be announced once the elections are formally announced.

Sunday's birthday meeting was Raj and Uddhav's second public appearance after the Hindi imposition rally on July 5. Political observers said Raj's visit was a reciprocal step on his part to Uddhav's comments that the two cousins had come together to be together.

Political observers said in the minds of the Sainiks, Matoshree has sanctity and Raj going there is also an acceptance on his part of Uddhav's seniority as big brother and Sena (UBT) president.
"On the occasion of my big brother, Shiv sena (UBT) chief, Uddhav Thackeray's birthday, I visited Matoshree, the residence of the late Balasaheb Thackeray, to extend my best wishes," Raj said in a post on X after the visit. "I'm very happy (with Raj's visit)," Uddhav said.
'Uddhav had said it on the July 5 rally itself that the two have come together to say together. Even after that Uddhav has made it clear that an alliance was on the cards in his interviews and speeches. So Raj seems to have taken a few steps forward. Raj visiting Matoshree also has big sentimental value for Shiv Sainiks and is a kind of homecoming. In fact it has more optical and sentimental value than the two cousins coming together at a public rally at Worli's NSCI Dome.
In the minds of the Sainiks, Matoshree has sanctity and Raj going there is also an acceptance on his part of Uddhav's seniority as big brother and Sena (UBT) president. With this visit, Raj has kept the momentum alive and not let the curiosity of the reunion die down after the Hindi imposition issue,' a political observer said.
Raj also paid tributes to Balasaheb Thackeray's memorial chair on the first floor at Matoshree.
Several Sena (UBT) functionaries including MP Sanjay Raut, MLC Ambadas Danve and MNS netas Bala Nandgaonkar and Nitin Sardesai among others too were present. Matoshree was fully decked up in garlands and banners to mark Uddhav's birthday with hordes of Sena (UBT) workers gathered there to wish Uddhav. At midnight on Saturday, Uddhav cut the birthday cake with his son Aaditya and wife Rashmi amid sloganeering and chants in a room packed with Sainiks.
"Both the brothers did it without saying a word. This is the beginning of the future. This incident united the divided Maharashtra, there cannot be a happier day like today. Therefore, today is a day of joy and inspiration for the Marathi people," Sena (UBT) MLA Bhaskar Jadhav said.

CM Fadnavis shielding 'corrupt' ministers, claims Uddhav Thackeray
Speaking at a protest to demand the sacking of "corrupt" ministers, primarily from the rival Shiv Sena, Thackeray said agitation will continue until those ministers are shown the door Press Trust of India Mumbai Shiv Sena (UBT) head Uddhav Thackeray on Monday accused Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis of "shielding corrupt" ministers in his cabinet, and claimed the ruling Mahayuti has relegated the state to last position in development and top in corruption. Speaking at a protest organised here to demand the sacking of "corrupt" ministers, primarily from the rival Shiv Sena, which is a constituent of the Mahayuti along with the BJP and NCP, Thackeray said the agitation will continue until those ministers are shown the door. The Sena (UBT) said it has carried out similar agitation across the state. Thackeray asked the party workers to inform the public about "corrupt" actions of the Mahayuti ministers. "We gave them (government) evidence (against ministers) and yet there is no action on them. Someone is running a dance bar, another has a bag full of notes. There is no need of even any probe now, yet the CM does not sack the ministers," Thackeray said. The Shiv Sena (UBT) has been demanding resignation of ministers Yogesh Kadam, Sanjay Shirsat, Sanjay Rathod, all belonging to the ruling Shiv Sena, and Manikrao Kokate of the NCP. "I pity Fadnavis. Why is he shielding these corrupt ministers? He does not have the courage to sack them despite the brute majority," Thackeray claimed. "The Mahayuti has relegated Maharashtra to the last position and top position in corruption," the former CM alleged. Kadam has been accused by Thackeray's party of running a dance bar with a permit in his mother's name, a charge denied by the minister. Kokate has been facing flak for allegedly playing rummy in the state legislative council and for "insensitive" remarks against farmers. The Sena (UBT) has been targeting Shirsat after a video showed him purportedly sitting in a room with a partially opened bag containing bundles of cash. The minister has rubbished the claim and said the bag contained only clothes. The Thackeray-led party has also accused minister Sanjay Rathod of indulging in corruption. It also sought to link BJP minister Girish Mahajan with an alleged "honeytrap" scandal. Kadam, Shirsat and Rathod were among the 39 MLAs who backed Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde when he rebelled against Thackeray in 2022. The rebellion resulted in the collapse of the Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government and split into the then undivided Shiv Sena. Uddhav Thackeray recalled that when Shiv Sena-BJP coalition was in power from 1995-99, five ministers were asked to quit by Sena founder Bal Thackeray because there were allegations of corruption against them. The Sena (UBT) chief also targeted the Centre over Jagdeep Dhankhar's resignation as vice president. He said no explanation was given for Dhankhar's sudden resignation, and sought information on his "disappearance". "Where is the (former) vice president?" Thackeray asked. In a sudden move, Dhankhar resigned as vice president on July 22 citing medical reasons. The opposition has raised questions over his resignation. Picture Credit: X 1 2 West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday lashed out at the makers of the Bollywood film Kesari Chapter 2 for allegedly misrepresenting Bengali revolutionary Khudiram Bose as "Khudiram Singh". The criticism came as she paid tributes to the freedom fighter on his death anniversary. CM calls it an attack on Bengali legacy In a social media post, Mamata Banerjee called the misrepresentation an "attack on the Bengali language" and an insult to those who laid down their lives for India's freedom. "My respectful obeisance on the death anniversary of revolutionary Khudiram Bose. Let me write something. Recently, in a Hindi film, revolutionary Khudiram was called 'Singh'. Why are those who gave their lives for freedom being insulted? Will language terrorists even hold onto the immortal revolutionary Khudiram?" Banerjee asked. FIR filed against producers for historical inaccuracy Recently, a controversy erupted after Khudiram Bose was referred to as Khudiram Singh in the Akshay Kumar-starrer Kesari Chapter 2. In June, an FIR was registered against the producers of the film at Bidhannagar South police station for allegedly misrepresenting historical personalities from West Bengal. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Best Interior Design and Styling Services Isla Styling Read More Undo The complaint had accused the film of inaccurately portraying Khudiram Bose as "Khudiram Singh" and describing Barindra Kumar Ghosh as "Birendra Kumar" from Amritsar. One of the country's youngest freedom fighters, Khudiram Bose, was hanged on August 11, 1908, at the age of 18 for his role in the Muzaffarpur bomb case. Banerjee, in her social media post, further claimed that the son of Bengal was shown as a son of Punjab. "Our indomitable teenager from Midnapore has been shown as a son of Punjab. Unbearable! But we have always paid tribute to this man, a symbol of patriotism and supreme sacrifice," she said. Banerjee also highlighted her government's initiatives to preserve Bose's legacy, which include developing Bose's birthplace, Mahabani, and its surrounding areas. "For the further development of Mahabani and the adjacent areas, which are associated with the birth anniversary of Khudiram Bose, the Mahabani Development Authority has been established. Apart from this, everything has been done, from installing a statue of Shaheed Khudiram in Mahabani to renovating the library, a new spacious auditorium, conference room. An open stage has also been set up. In addition, modern cottages have been built for visitors, and the traditional Khudiram Park has been revived. The entire area has also been decorated with lights," she said. She further highlighted that her government also named a metro station in Kolkata after him.
