If you're looking to make sense of it all, here's an in-depth look at Untamed's ending and its deeper significance.
What is Untamed on Netflix about?
Untamed is a tense and gripping mystery thriller that follows Kyle Turner, a special agent in a top-tier unit of the National Parks Service responsible for enforcing law in the wildest corners of nature. When a brutal death shatters the peace, Turner finds himself drawn into a tangled investigation, one that reveals dark secrets lurking in the park and forces him to confront haunting truths from his own past.

Untamed ending explained
How did Lucy die?
By the end of Untamed, it's revealed that Lucy Cook died by suicide, not murder. The end of the limited series tells us that Lucy had escaped from Gibbs and returned to Yosemite as a teenager. Around a year before her body was found, Paul had offered to help her find housing. He later tells Kyle that Lucy had been blackmailing him for money, threatening to reveal he was her biological father.
Paul admits to shooting Lucy in the leg, claiming he just wanted to stop her so they could talk. He insists he was "protecting his family," to which Kyle pointedly reminds him that Lucy was part of that family. Consumed by guilt and unable to face the collapse of his reputation, Paul ultimately dies by suicide, choosing not to kill Kyle to keep him silent.
Meanwhile, Kyle uncovers a video on Lucy's phone in episode 5, showing Shane assaulting her. It's also revealed that Shane had drawn Lucy into the park's underground drug operation.
What happened to Shane?
Despite being shot in the abdomen, Kyle managed to get away from Shane temporarily. However, since Kyle was badly wounded and Shane was uninjured, Shane eventually caught up and was ready to kill him. Naya shot Shane once to stop him, but when he turned to attack her, she shot him in the chest, killing him. Kyle was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but survived. Paul, the chief park ranger and Kyle's friend, and Naya were relieved. Naya informed Kyle that the drugs, weapons, and cash found at Shane's camp, along with the video of him attacking Lucy, suggested he and Lucy may have had a deal that turned sour, potentially leading to her death.
Meanwhile, Paul called Jill, asking to meet, but she chose to stay home and confess the truth to her husband, Scott, about Shane's involvement in her and Kyle's past. Years ago, a man named Sean had abducted and killed Caleb. Shane's motion-activated wildlife cameras had caught Sean in the act, which led to his arrest.
By confessing everything to Scott, Jill finally stopped pretending she was okay. She gave him the choice to leave her, as Kyle once had. The series doesn't clarify Scott's decision, but Jill's words to Kyle at the hospital suggest Scott chose to stay. In their final conversation, Jill reassures Kyle she'll be fine, likely acknowledging Scott's support. She may also be apologising for bringing Shane into their lives for the sake of revenge.
That emotional closure is what ultimately leads Kyle to lie to Esther, the lawyer investigating Sean's disappearance. Though Kyle ended his marriage because Jill had Sean killed, he chooses not to expose her or Shane, allowing Sean's family to remain in the dark. While controversial, Kyle saw Jill was already living with guilt and believed justice wouldn't bring peace to anyone.

Netflix's 'Mandala Murders' actress Vaani Kapoor on her working hours amid Deepika Padukone's shift demand: 'There are times when I worked for 16 hours a day but...'

In an exclusive interview with Firstpost, Kapoor spoke about her prep for this character that sees her in the role of a cop, digging deeper in the world of murders and mysteries, and her take on actors' working hours read more Vaani Kapoor is gearing up for YRF and Netflix's Mandala Murders that will stream on the OTT giant from July 25. The actress has acted in films like Shuddh Desi Romance, Befikre, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, Khel Khel Mein, Bell Bottom, and is fresh off the success of Raid 2. In an exclusive interview with Firstpost, Kapoor spoke about her prep for this character that sees her in the role of a cop, digging deeper in the world of murders and mysteries, and her take on actors' working hours after the debate that has sparked around Deepika Padukone's shift demand. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Edited excerpts from the interview This does not look like a regular cat and mouse whodunnit. The trailer suggests it digs deeper. What can we expect? Like you said, it's a fictional world setup with crime, which is blended into drama. There's mythology involved. There's a whole fictional world, there's so many things that one can resonate with when it comes to human emotions. There are complexities, one can wonder, and you know, when you're sitting alone, you can actually think how far am I willing to go for my belief in something. What is my purpose? How far am I willing to make this choice? Am I willing to face a consequence like that? I am aware of the consequences which are around that the choice that I make. So I feel it just makes you wonder, it makes you question, it leaves a lot of room for food for thought for the audience. Raid 2 did really well. Khel Khel Mein got some fabulous response, and now the trailer of Mandala Murders also looks exciting. What are the comments that make you validated as an actor? You're not just making cinema to sit in the comfort of your living room and watching it alone. You want people to watch it, celebrate that with you. If I can make a difference or an impact on any level with the audiences and there's somebody sitting in their house or wherever in life and can build a cord and build a connection to the character. If that can inspire somebody. I feel my job is done well. And more audiences who will give me love the merrier I am. We have seen so many female officers of late, so how did it feel to play an officer? I tried to, they've done brilliant jobs in the past. I love Mardaani. Rani Mukerji is untouchable and one of the finest, brilliant actors I have ever seen on screen and in the cinema. But Riya is somebody who also is very human, like she's more real, she's not always led by strength. There are times when she's also kind of fighting her own demons. There's a personal life, a person can be complexed. There are times when she's led by strength and there are times when she has breakdowns, like any normal human being. There are things that have left an impact on her mind, in her life. I think that the very nice concoction of having weakness and not weakness, but vulnerability and strength is what excited me. Since you have dabbled with films, OTT, there are a string of interviews happening. After a point, can it get exhausting? Do you sometimes tell your directors or anybody that you can only contribute this much in a particular day? Main bolti hoon 12 ghante koi sunta nahin hai meri. I say it should be in the contract and let's follow that. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD As much as my intention is to deliver and there are times, many times there are certain projects where I've worked for 15, 16 hours a day, every day. Every single day. But as an act only to better my job, I need to replenish myself. You know, after a point I can't speak to each other, but I feel like it's unhealthy for me, because I will not deliver my best at the Nth hour. When you set up a closeup right at the end of the day after 14 hours, 15 hours, you're delivering something where I'm semi- facing brainfall, I'm tired, I'm fatigued, I'm not sleeping well. And this happens for many, many, many, many, many, many days. And then one day you're just like, I want to give this the drive, but I'm giving up, I need to sleep. There are times when I'm just sleeping for three, four hours. And the next day you're supposed to look fresh, because the same audience will be yeh kya dikh rahi hai. But I know that I've not slept in 10 days. I'm not slept at all, as a human being, you need seven, eight hours of sleep. It's not coming out of some luxury of life that I'm asking. I'm not demanding luxury, but I do need to replenish myself. So the next day when I show up, I'm all there. I'm fresh. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD I can contribute better. I can add more to it. When my brain is sharp, when I'm alert, I'm aware. I'm rested, well rested. So I have said all of that, which is why you write that all in the contract for pretty much every project when it's needed and there, I'm a team player and I've never walked out of it and I would never do that. I find that highly unprofessional. I just hope it could be a mutual understanding that, okay, let's plan the day better. You have these because there are days when you're just waiting in your van for many, many hours. And it's a futile thing. You just plan it better. It's all about the planning. I don't think I've ever held a thing that main nahin rukoongi and I am walking out, never. I mean, you can't do that. I respect my craft, I respect my work, I'm grateful for the job. But I also need to deliver my best for that, I think 12 hours is a decent ask in my opinion, for me. It's a personal choice again, how much whoever can function in whatever capacity for how many hours, it's subjective. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD

Netflix is turning the popular Assassin's Creed gaming franchise into a live-action series

A live-action TV series based on Ubisoft's best-selling gaming franchise Assassin's Creed is in the works at Netflix, the streaming giant confirmed in an official announcement. The Netflix project isn't the TV adaptation of the commercially acclaimed video game franchise. The game was previously adapted into a 2016 movie starring Michael Fassbender, which achieved modest success. However, with Netflix attached to the project, the scale, production quality, and marketing muscle are expected to be higher – and so are the expectations. The Assassin's Creed live-action series has been in development at Netflix for years, with the streamer originally planning to produce the series in 2020. The project has gone through several creative changes before finally being greenlit. Roberto Patino, a writer on FX's Sons of Anarchy and HBO's Westworld , has been tapped as showrunner, joining David Wiener, who previously led Paramount+'s Halo TV series as well as Fear the Walking Dead. Netflix has not revealed any casting or plot details, but the series will follow a shadow war between the rival Templar and Assassin factions, fought across centuries and cultures. The series will focus on characters diving into genetic memory to experience the lives of ancestors who played pivotal roles in the conflict. The first Assassin's Creed game was released in 2007 and was set in Israel during the Crusades. Since then, Ubisoft has turned the experimental title into one of the most highly acclaimed video game franchises. The series includes a massive number of entries, with 14 mainline games released over 18 years, along with several spin-offs, all of which are canonical and fit into a single timeline. Perhaps what makes the Assassin's Creed franchise truly work is how the events in each game interweave to form one cohesive narrative. Earlier this year, Ubisoft released Assassin's Creed Shadows, an open-world game set in feudal Japan. The action game was praised by both critics and players alike, a positive sign for Ubisoft, which has struggled to produce consistent hits in recent years. The French company has recently expanded key franchises like Assassin's Creed, Rainbow Six, and Far Cry, bolstered by a $1.25 billion investment from Chinese publisher Tencent. Ubisoft has sold 230 million copies of Assassin's Creed franchise to date. The Assassin's Creed live-action series comes at a time when popular video games are increasingly being adapted into films or television shows. Last week, Nintendo announced the lead cast for its upcoming Zelda live-action movie, based on its classic video game series. The movie is slated to hit screens in 2027. The veteran Japanese gaming powerhouse is steadily expanding its presence in Hollywood, with a growing lineup of films slated for release in the coming years. Nintendo first found success with its movie strategy through The Super Mario Bros. Movie in 2023, which grossed $1.3 billion at the global box office. The company is now gearing up for a sequel to the hit animated film, scheduled for release in 2026.
