STOCKHOLM: A Swedish court on Wednesday sentenced four men ages 19 to 22 to prison terms for their roles in the killing of a rapper in last year.
Masked 26-year-old rapper C Gambino -- whose real name was Karar Ramadan, and not to be confused with American rapper Childish Gambino -- was the victim of a shooting in a parking garage in the city of Gothenburg on June 4, 2024.
A total of four men were charged over the killing, two of which had been charged with "murder or aiding and abetting murder" -- but the court could not definitely establish that the two had fired the killing shots.
"The shooting was akin to an execution and caused the victim severe suffering," judge Anne Rapp said in a statement.
"Furthermore, the crime had its origins in a conflict between criminal networks and was committed using firearms in a public place, which is a particularly aggravating factor," Rapp added.
The investigation had not shown that the rapper himself was active in a criminal network, but people in his entourage were reportedly linked to these networks, said the court.
One of the four men, aged 22, was sentenced to life imprisonment for aiding and abetting murder because he had participated in the planning and preparation of the murder, notably by providing the car used by the perpetrators.
The car was later burned and completely destroyed.

Pimpri Chinchwad police arrest 2 men, including US national, for trying to convert people by offering financial assistance

The Pimpri Chinchwad police said Monday they have arrested two men, including an American national, and apprehended a minor boy for allegedly trying to convert people to Christianity by offering financial assistance. The police identified the arrested US national as Schaefer Javin Jacob, 41, a resident of California, who lives in an apartment near Mukai Chowk in Pimpri Chinchwad. The police said they have also arrested Steven Vijay Kadam, 46, a resident of Raisoni society in Pimpri, and handed over the minor, a 16-year-old boy, to his mother. Pimpri resident Sunny Dhanani, 27, who belongs to the Sindhi community, lodged the First Information Report (FIR) in this case at the Pimpri Police Station Sunday night. The police have booked them under sections 299 (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). They have also invoked sections 14 (b) and (c) of the Foreigners Act against the American national in this case. As per the FIR, the accused allegedly approached Dhanani at his residence in Pimpri at around 11.30 am Sunday. They allegedly told Dhanani that he would get 'happiness, peace, wealth, and good mental health' if he embraced Christianity. They also allegedly claimed that Jesus Christ is the only God, while other Gods are just stories, the FIR stated. It added that the accused allegedly offered financial assistance to the complainant if he accepted Christianity. Dhanani then approached the police and filed a complaint against the accused for allegedly hurting his religious sentiments. Ashok Kadlag, Senior Police Inspector, said further investigation is underway. Kadlag said the probe so far shows that the American citizen has been coming to India since 2016 on tourist and business visas. 'But he was not found doing any business activity here,' said Kadlag.

Odisha horror: Two separate rape cases of minor girls lodged in Malkangiri; rape victim delivers stillborn

NEW DELHI: Two separate rape cases have been reported from Odisha's Malkangiri district, with police confirming the arrest of two persons. In one of the cases, the survivor delivered a stillborn baby, according to PTI. According to Additional SP Rashmiranjan Senapati, the first incident occurred on July 20 in a village under Orkel police station. A 50-year-old man allegedly offered a girl a lift while she was on her way to her uncle's house and instead took her to a forested area where he raped her. The survivor informed her family the following day. After villagers failed to act, her uncle filed a police complaint on Saturday. 'As the villagers could not take any action, I took the matter to the police,' he said in the complaint. The accused was arrested the next day, police confirmed. The second incident was reported from the Mudulipada police station area. According to police, the survivor had allegedly been raped since 2024. The case surfaced after she gave birth to a stillborn baby at a government hospital. Following a complaint by her family, the accused was arrested. Earlier on July 20, another shocking case emerged from the district where a girl was gang-raped twice within hours first by three men and later by a truck driver who found her in distress. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like The Expense Of Toothbringing For The Elderly Could Blow You Off Dental Implant | Search ADS Search Now Undo All four accused were arrested.
