The government has directed Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to disable public access to 25 OTT platforms.
Actress and politician Kangana Ranaut has wholeheartedly welcomed the government's decision to ban OTT platforms such as Ullu, ALTT, and Desiflix for showing soft porn content. The government has directed Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to disable public access to 25 OTT platforms – Big Shots App, Boomex, Navarasa Lite, Gulab App, Kangan App, Bull App, Jalva App, Wow Entertainment, Look Entertainment, Hitprime, Feneo, ShowX, Sol Talkies, Adda TV, HotX VIP, Hulchul App, MoodX, NeonX VIP, Fugi, Mojflix, and Triflicks.
Speaking exclusively to IANS, the 'Queen' actress lauded the government's decision, saying that it was crucial to preserve our culture and future generations.
Kangana told IANS, 'In order to preserve the overall culture of our country and the future path of our youngsters, and so that our society does not collapse completely, this step was much-awaited and is now much-appreciated. The action taken against these apps, especially the illegal ones, is highly appreciated."
The government has asked the Internet Service Providers to disable or remove public access to these websites within the country. According to the media report, 'MIB has also intimated to the Director (DS-II), Department of Telecommunications, with a request to facilitate compliance by the ISPs."
The above-mentioned apps have been found in violation of various laws, such as Section 67 and Section 67A of the Information Technology Act, 2000, Section 294 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, and Section 4 of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.
Refreshing your memory, back in April, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court asking for a ban on sexually explicit content on OTT and social media.
Responding to the petition, the Apex court said, 'It's not our domain, you do something". However, SC stressed the need for executive action in the matter.
Meanwhile, talking about Kangana Ranaut, the actress was last seen in Emergency. The film, which was released in January this year, was a biopic of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Grandhi.

Aamir Khan's team explains why a bus full of IPS officers arrived at his Bandra residence: ‘They requested a meeting with him and…'

Police officers entering or exiting an actor's house is rarely seen as a good sign, especially by members of the public who are clueless about the reason for the visit. And their immediate tendency is to imagine the worst-case scenarios and fling around speculations as to why the actor is 'in soup'. Aamir Khan is the latest to have such rumours circulating about him, after a video emerged online showing police vehicles accompanying a luxury bus exiting the Bollywood superstar's building in Mumbai. Now, the actor's team has stepped forward, offering an explanation and the reason behind the officers' visit. Mentioning that the visitors were probationary IPS officers, reportedly about 25 of them, the team revealed that they arrived at his Bandra residence simply to meet the actor. 'The IPS trainees of the current batch had requested a meeting with him, and Aamir Khan hosted them at his residence,' News18 quoted his spokesperson as saying. All the fuss began when videos showing three police vehicles escorting a bus surfaced on social media and quickly went viral. His team also confirmed that those in the bus were probationary IPS officers who wished to meet him. Interestingly, this is not the first time that Aamir Khan has met trainee officers and hosted such meet-and-greet events for them. After the release of his action thriller Sarfarosh (1999), helmed by John Matthew Matthan, a lot of IPS trainees had wished to meet him, and Aamir arranged for it. His tough and idealistic IPS officer in the movie had served as an inspiration for many among the police trainees. Since then, he has organised such meetings many times over the years. A post shared by Varinder Chawla (@varindertchawla) Aamir Khan is currently basking in the massive success of his sports comedy drama Sitaare Zameen Par, which grossed Rs 267 crore worldwide, according to industry tracker Sacnilk, against a reported budget of Rs 90-100 crore. For the actor, who had been going through a rough patch for the past seven years with two of his most ambitious films, Thugs of Hindostan (2018) and Laal Singh Chaddha (2022), bombing at the box office, Sitaare Zameen Par's success came as a much-needed relief. He will be next seen in Lokesh Kanagaraj's Tamil action thriller Coolie (2025), starring Rajinikanth in the lead role.

'You'll Sit There For Next 20 Years': Shah Snaps As Oppn Heckles Jaishankar During Op Sindoor Debate

Amit Shah said the opposition had faith in a foreign country rather than India's foreign minister, which is why they are sitting on opposition benches. Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack at the opposition parties for disrupting External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar's address in Lok Sabha on Monday, saying they would rather believe some foreign country than the country's own foreign minister. As opposition parties interrupted Jaishankar's speech, Shah got up and said, 'They (Opposition) don't have faith in an Indian Foreign Minister, but they have faith in some other country. I can understand the importance of foreigners in their party, but that does not mean that they should impose this on House proceedings." 'This is the reason why they are sitting there (opposition benches), and will remain sitting there for the next 20 years," the Home Minister further said. Shah's furious response came after members of opposition parties began heckling Jaishankar and raised slogans, while the External Affairs Minister was defending the diplomatic measures taken by India before and during Operation Sindoor, in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. Shah rose again during Jaishankar's speech to chastise the Opposition for interrupting his speech and promised to expose their lies in the House tomorrow. 'When their Speakers were talking, we were listening to them patiently. I will inform you tomorrow how many lies have been told by them," he said. 'They are not able to listen to the truth… Even we can repeatedly interrupt speeches in the House, but when such an important issue is being discussed, and the EAM is speaking, does repeatedly disturbing him suit the opposition? Speaker sir, you should make them understand or else we will also not be able to make our members understand anything later," he said. The Operation Sindoor debate has taken centre stage on Monday, with the Opposition demanding answers from the government over India's May 7 to 10 operation against Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack. The Opposition also looks to corner the government over the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 civilians were killed in cold blood. Continuing the debate on Operation Sindoor, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will initiate the discussion in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. Amit Shah will be the first speaker tomorrow in the Lok Sabha. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Tanushree Dutta On Sushant Singh Rajput: ‘A Good Man Caught With Very Bad Men'

Tanushree Dutta says Sushant Singh Rajput was 'a good man caught with very bad men' and urges fans to pray for him, Jiah Khan, and Disha Salian. Actress Tanushree Dutta, who recently raised concerns about threats to her life in Mumbai, has once again taken to social media to share a deeply emotional and spiritual post. This time, she reflected on the late Sushant Singh Rajput, along with Disha Salian and Jiah Khan, describing them as 'slain soldiers of God" who were victims of a darker reality hidden beneath public narratives. In a heartfelt Instagram story, the Dhol actress urged her followers to offer prayers for these departed souls, questioning the popular portrayal of their deaths as mere cases of 'depression" or 'personal conflict." 'We should all keep these slain soldiers of God SSR, Disha, Jiah and others in our prayers. This is how you help, by praying over the people of God. We don't know how much they battled and what evil they battled. It's easy to just cook up stories of depression and personal conflict," she wrote. Tanushree emphasized that she believes sinister forces were at play, 'No, there are evil people in the world that literally feed off of the suffering of others for their own selfish gains. And these children of God just became victims of another's greed, lust for power and ambition." Speaking specifically about Sushant Singh Rajput, Tanushree painted a moving image of his spiritual journey. She shared how she envisions his soul making its way toward peace and the light, 'I prayed for SSR… Every time I think of him, I see him walking through a long straight tunnel towards the light. He either saw the light or someone came to guide him to the light. He took a while but is close now." She further criticized the cloud of misinformation and deceit surrounding their deaths, 'Their truth is silenced by layers upon layers of lies, misinformation and deceit. I see it happening now, so watch closely how they try to paint a picture so flawed. But the good thing is, they've got no new tricks up their sleeve. They are predictable due to their low consciousness, and they would lose." Tanushree concluded her message with unwavering faith, stating, 'God has already accounted for everything, so nothing can hurt me beyond a point or destroy me completely." Sushant Singh Rajput's Legacy Sushant Singh Rajput tragically passed away by suicide on June 14, 2020, at the age of 34. His sudden death sparked massive public outcry, conspiracy theories, and ongoing debates about mental health, nepotism, and justice in the entertainment industry. The names of Disha Salian (his former manager) and Jiah Khan (who died in 2013) have often been brought up in conversations about mysterious deaths in Bollywood.
