Strictly Come Dancing confirms Dani Dyer as second 2025 contestant

Daily Mirror3 days ago
Strictly Come Dancing has revealed the second star who'll be officially joining the line-up for 2025. Tonight's episode of The One Show is set to reveal the next three celebrities who will be taking to the Strictly floor, with Dani Dyer the first to be announced.
Dani, 29, is hoping to capitalise on her Love Island triumph as she takes to the dance floor. After she was revealed on The One Show tonight, the newlywed said: 'Getting the opportunity to be on Strictly is the second most amazing thing I've done this year! I feel very, very blessed and cannot wait to get my dancing shoes on.' Born in London's Canning Town, Dani has fronted several documentaries and has teamed up with her EastEnders star father Danny for podcast Live and Let Dyers and travelogue series Absolutely Dyer: Danny and Dani Do Italy.
Having made guest appearances in EastEnders and Celebrity Gogglebox, Dani won Love Island in 2018 and has since amassed over three million social media followers. Dani got married to West Ham footballer Jarrod Bowen in May this year, much to her father's delight.
It comes after Strictly Come Dancing's Gorka Marquez pulls out of show. The long-time professional announced that he would be absent for most of the 2025 series of Strictly as he'll be busy filming the Spanish version of the show.
"Due to the filming dates this means that I won't be competing with a partner this year in Strictly but I will be a part of lots of the group numbers and will be back for final weeks of the Show to support the rest of my fellow pros and their celebrities in what is going to be an AMAZING SERIES," he wrote on Instagram.
The countdown to Strictly is now officially on, with the BBC show slowly unveiling the 2025 cast this week. Earlier today, Gladiators star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey - also known as Nitro - was revealed as the first contestant to take part on CBBC.
The ex Olympian, who took part in the show's Christmas special last year, said in a statement: "After the Christmas Special, it was so nice I just had to do it twice! I'm so excited to be part of the Strictly family this series and I'm ready to give it all I've got. I'll be bringing tons of energy to light up the dance floor. Let's hope I'm as quick picking up the routines as I am on the track."
While a number of stars are currently rumoured to be taking part, fans think they've rumbled Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts in the line-up after a huge clue was dropped. BBC Radio 2 confirmed earlier today that she is stopping by tomorrow's breakfast show and has some "news" to share.
"I would die she is literally my favourite singer," one fan wrote online. Another said: "I would SCREAM!"
It's been an eventful few weeks for Strictly in the lead up to the new series, with bosses reportedly launching an investigation into claims that two of its stars took cocaine. Law firm Pinsent Mason has been hired by the BBC to look into the allegations.
A source told the Sun, following the breakout news: "The BBC is taking the allegations really seriously. Bosses are aware of the two stars in question and have a duty of care to make sure they're OK."
They added: "As per BBC policy, the option of specialised professional support is on the table and will be offered. While drug testing won't happen on the main show, bosses are considering bringing in random checks for the tour next year."

One unkind Instagram user wrote: "I mean this genuinely, and I'm no Greek god but you genuinely look unhealthy and very malnourished…" A second posted: "Appreciate you feel good and happy but younger girls watching and aspiring may follow suit and this isn't good for anyone…" A third then put: "Babe always thought you were fit, but a little tooooooo slim my love xxx." Luisa, who is more than entitled to defend herself from the hurtful remarks, wrote: 'If you got off your a***s and stopped shoving s**t in your mouths you wouldn't be as fat and fat wouldn't be normal. "Just because the majority of people are overweight does NOT mean it's healthy." She added: "Shocking that when people see a healthy body with a healthy BMI in a healthy weight range they think it's not normal." STANDING ON BUSINESS Luisa continued to fight her corner on her second Instagram Stories slide. In it, she wrote in white text on a black background: "And no, I'm not sorry for my comments it's TRUE. Strictly Come Dancing fans 'disgusted' and demand BBC take action over new star

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Strictly Come Dancing viewers have been left 'disgusted' by one of the latest celebrities announced for the forthcoming series. The BBC Saturday evening stalwart started revealing its line-up in recent days, ahead of a September debut, but some supporters are unhappy with who has been selected to take part. Thomas Skinner, who is most famous for featuring on The Apprentice, will be displaying his dancing skills for judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Mosi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke in just a few weeks' time, but due to his reputation for controversial opinions shared on social media, some viewers have expressed their disapproval. One supporter posted on X: "Disgusted that grifter Tom Skinner has got the #Strictly gig. Have the BBC not looked at his social media output?" to which another responded: "Somebody who has different political opinions than me is on television. BAN THEM." However, the original poster maintained that wasn't their intention as audiences in large numbers called for his social media history to be examined, reports the Mirror. Another watcher commented: "Oh dear God no. You really think platforming a known bigot is the right way to go for a show which has already had more than its share of troubles?" whilst a third added: "Appalling booking - has the BBC not seen his social media output?" as they all urged the broadcaster to scrutinise his online presence. One fan, when discussing his social media presence, commented: "They probably have, which is why they haven't tagged his account in the announcement! ! What a bizarre choice from them!" However, another Strictly enthusiast was more critical, stating: "I'm so serious, I loved this years #Strictly line up but casting Thomas Skinner has completely ruined the WHOLE thing,". The 32 year old businessman from Essex, now famous for his successful pillow and mattress business, first gained recognition on the 2019 series of Lord Alan Sugar's BBC show, where he lasted until week nine of the competition. Skinner, also known for his frank videos on social media platform X, has attracted hundreds of thousands of followers with his posts about business, politics, and daily life. His online presence has led to an unexpected friendship with US Vice President JD Vance, Donald Trump's running mate. (Image: PA) Vance has expressed support for the businessman on X after Skinner revealed he had received death threats and "vile comments about my children" following a series of tweets in which he stated "something's gone wrong" in the UK and asserted "there is nothing wrong with being proud of where you're from". Just a few days ago, Tom shared a post with Vance, where the two were seen together at a barbecue. He wrote: "Here is a pic of Me and Vice President @JDVance towards the end of the night after a few beers I'm overdressed in my suit, but when the VP invites you to a BBQ, you don't risk turning up in shorts an flip-flops Cracking night in the beautiful English countryside with JD, his friends and family. Once in a lifetime. Bosh!". In a follow-up tweet, he added: "When the Vice President of the USA invites ya for a barbecue an beers, you say yes. Unreal night with JD and his friends n family. He was a proper gent. Lots of laughs and some fantastic food. A brilliant night, one to tell the grand kids about mate. Bosh!".
