Orlando Pirates appointment could open door for Gallants striker
Orlando Pirates appointing the new head coach, Abdeslam Ouaddou, has sparked speculation about potential player movements, particularly the possible arrival of Junior Zindoga from Marumo Gallants.
Ouaddou stepped into the Buccaneers' hot seat following Jose Riveiro's shock departure to Al Ahly, and insiders suggest the Moroccan's existing links with Gallants players could shape his transfer plans.
One name gaining traction in Soweto circles is Junior Zindoga, the 26-year-old Zimbabwean forward who impressed during the recent Betway Premiership campaign.
Despite netting just once in nine appearances since joining Gallants from Nsingizini Hotspurs FC in January, Zindoga turned heads with his towering physique, relentless pressing, and intelligent hold-up play.
His standout performance came in Gallants' shock 2-0 victory over Pirates in Mangaung, where he reportedly caught the eye of Ouaddou, who was still managing Gallants at the time.
Insiders believe Ouaddou's admiration for Zindoga could fast-track a high-profile move to Soweto.
'He's a very good player and his work rate is exceptional,' a source revealed.
'He was doing well before he picked up an unfortunate injury. But even then, several clubs were monitoring him, Pirates included. Now that they're coached by someone who knows him well and is a big fan of his style, there's definitely a stronger possibility.'
The source added that Zindoga remains part of Gallants' plans. Especially after the club recently released multiple players, but acknowledged that the situation could change swiftly.
'It all depends on how he performs early in the new season and whether he gets back to his best.'
Pirates haven't submitted a formal bid yet. Zindoga's potential move could materialise in January. Particularly as Ouaddou looks to bolster his squad ahead of a gruelling season that includes a return to the CAF Champions League.
With the Moroccan tactician now at the helm and aware of what Zindoga brings. The striker's dream move to the big stage in Soweto may finally become reality.
Is Zindoga needed at Orlando Pirates?

Orlando Pirates to back new coach with another big target?
Orlando Pirates backed new coach Abdeslam Ouaddou by signing one of his prime targets in Sipho Mbule. Pirates took to their social media to confirm the signing of former Mamelodi Sundowns star Mbule. Mbule joins Pirates aș a free agent, this after parting ways with Sundowns. The 27-year-old saw an option on his deal not exercised by the Brazilians, after they had loaned him out to Sekhukhune United. The player showed flashes of brilliance during his time at BaBina Nako. But he was ultimately released early by the club due to ill discipline. Having signed, an old clip has resurfaced on social media of new Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou talking up Mbule. But before then, he mentioned another player of a Sundowns persuasion in Neo Maema. Now according to Soccer-Laduma, the Buccaneers could try lure the player to the club for their new coach. It is thought, however, that they will be facing strong competition from arch rivals Kaizer Chiefs ! 'Yes, the club is believed to have made enquiries about Maema. Actually he was the first one even before Sipho Mbule. It has to be seen what will be the next move because apparently he still has one year on his contract with Sundowns. And Kaizer Chiefs are also believed to be interested in him,' said the source. Another source speaking to the same publication but closer Maema says he could pick either of Chiefs or Pirates. Hinting that his decision will be made according to where he gets more game time guarantee. 'At the moment the player (Maema) also seems to he looking at the opportunity of moving away from Sundowns to go and play regularly somewhere. It could be at Orlando Pirates or Kaizer Chiefs depending on which club really needs him. But the player apparently just wants to play regularly,' said the source. Motaung not definitive on whether Chiefs' Nabi will stay
'We must allow processes to unfold internally,' said the Chiefs commercial and marketing director. Nasreddine Nabi won the Nedbank Cup but his Chiefs side finished tenth in the Betway Premiership last season. Picture: Gerhard Duraan/BackpagePix Kaizer Chiefs commercial and marketing director Jessica Motaung has stopped short of giving assurances that Nasreddine Nabi will still be Amakhosi head coach at the start of next season. ALSO READ: Chiefs to face Kotoko in Toyota Cup Nabi is currently preparing the side for a pre-season tour of the Netherlands, with the players returning this week for medicals at the Chiefs Village. Chiefs' mixed fortunes Motaung, however, says that Nabi's performance from last season is still under review. Nabi did win Chiefs their first trophy in ten years in the form of the 2025 Nedbank Cup. But Amakhosi also finished 10th in the Betway Premiership and will not play in the season-opening MTN8. 'Nabi is here at the Village and we will make sure he goes to the Netherlands,' said Motaung at the launch of the Toyota Cup. 'But we are looking at the entire process. A review of things still needs to be done. But the coach is here and looking at the players and making sure he prepares the team to go on the pitch and do the work they need to do.' 'We must allow processes to unfold internally. A review (of last season) has been done and there are discussions right now about where we are going and where we want to take things. With any announcements you must wait and allow us to make them … but the team are here preparing.' Motaung admitted Chiefs' league positions last season was not good enough. 'Ninth (in 2023/24) and tenth (in 2024/25) is not great. That is part of the difficult conversations we are having,' she said. 'We cannot find ourselves there again. The vision has always been to ascend and take our rightful place, where we need to be in African and South African football. And we will make the hard decisions to get there.' Chiefs have yet to announce any new signings ahead of the new season, but Phakaaathi understands that some are already in the Chiefs camp.. 'Absolute nonsense' Former Orlando Pirates full backs Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako, as well as midfielder Ethan Chislett, are among those said to have already signed for Amakhosi. Motaung, meanwhile, riled at suggestions Chiefs do not want to spend money in the transfer market. This week they missed out on the signing of midfielder Sipho Mbule, who has joined Orlando Pirates. 'Chiefs pays a lot of money, so I am quite surprised (about this). It is absolute nonsense, if you look at our investment in players and in the transfer space. It is also about the South African market, you have to ask if the negotiations are fair, if the prices people are asking for are fair. ALSO READ: Pirates announce a magnificent seven 'But …. You cold see the investment last season in players and in our technical team. Chiefs are putting our money where our mouth is.'
