Revanth Reddy is ignoring Rangareddy only because the Congress did not get votes and seats from the district.
The per capita income of the combined Rangareddy district is highest after Gurgaon district in Haryana. The district is one of the five districts that bring the highest income to the country. This will surely satisfy hardcore RSS supporters.' Rao began his political career with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad nearly five decades ago during his undergraduate years. Although his involvement in the party has been steady, his electoral record remains modest—he lost the Malkajgiri Assembly seat in 2014, 2018, and 2023, as well as the 2019 Lok Sabha election for the same constituency. Party insiders were reportedly disappointed when he was nominated again in 2023. Analysts suggest he has waited a decade for such an appointment. Rao, addressing internal rifts, stated: 'There is no new or old in the BJP. Both the new and old timers should work towards strengthening the party.' His immediate challenge is the upcoming local body elections, and his broader mandate includes countering the BRS while targeting the Congress. T. Raja Singh, MLA from Goshamahal, resigned in protest against Rao's appointment. Known for volatility, Singh has threatened to quit the party multiple times since 2016. In 2022, he faced a temporary suspension for controversial remarks about Prophet Muhammad. The party has yet to respond to his resignation or his allegations of an undemocratic election. In Andhra Pradesh, former Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) P.V.N. Madhav has replaced Daggubati Purandeswari as State president following her two-year term. Purandeswari, daughter of former Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party founder N.T. Rama Rao joined the BJP in 2014 after leaving the Congress. She now represents Rajahmundry in the Lok Sabha. Madhav, 51 and the son of P.V. Chalapathi Rao, embodies second-generation BJP leadership with ABVP and RSS roots. Chalapathi Rao was instrumental in building the party in northern Andhra during the 1980s. Analysts see Madhav's appointment as an attempt to engage Andhra Pradesh's substantial OBC voter base. 'Purandeswari's leadership was an aberration. With Madhav's selection, they are returning to ideological roots,' senior journalist and political analyst Telakapalli Ravi told Frontline. Kharge to attend Cong village chiefs' meet in Hyderabad; TPCC chief slams Kavitha, BRS
Hyderabad, July 3 (UNI) All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Mallikarjun Kharge will be the chief guest at the village presidents' commemoration programme being organised by the Telangana Congress at Lal Bahadur Stadium in Hyderabad on Friday. Addressing the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud said the event is expected to witness the participation of around 40,000 Congress leaders and workers, including village, mandal, and district presidents, Ministers, MLAs, MPs, and Corporation Chairpersons. Kharge will also address the gathering under the theme Social Justice Samara Bheri and will give key directives to the village-level Congress presidents to strengthen the party at the grassroots. Taking a sharp dig at BRS MLC K Kavitha, Goud described her recent letter to AICC President Kharge as 'strange and ironic.' He questioned whether the letter was written in her capacity as a representative of BRS or on behalf of the cultural wing Jagruthi. 'It is bizarre to see Kavitha, who remained silent for a decade, now suddenly speaking on BC issues,' he remarked. Goud accused Kavitha and BRS of political opportunism, stating, 'What did BRS do for BCs in 10 years of power? Can Kavitha point to a single instance where she raised her voice for BCs? Her sudden concern for BCs is nothing but a survival tactic in a political vacuum.' He reiterated that the Congress Party has always stood firmly with the SC, ST, and BC communities, recalling that it was the Congress that provided 42 per cent reservation for BCs in local bodies, along with key benefits in the fields of education and healthcare. He blamed the BRS for losing power due to misgovernance and failing to address the unemployment crisis. 'Let them show us what they achieved in the last decade. If they must protest, let them hold a 'rail roko' to explain their record,' he said. Commenting on BJP's situation, he said it is unfortunate that the party cannot even appoint a BC leader as its state president, proving its lack of seriousness on social justice. Goud also took on BRS leader T Harish Rao for his comments on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and water-sharing disputes, accusing Harish of compromising with the Andhra Pradesh government and spreading lies about the Banakacharla project. 'You went around with AP leaders, had fish soup at Roja's house, and compromised Telangana's water share,' he alleged. In a direct jibe at Kavitha, he questioned whether the alleged property-sharing deals within the BRS had fallen apart. 'The people of Telangana will no longer be fooled. The BRS, which betrayed every section of society, has no moral right to seek votes,' he said. Highlighting Congress' welfare schemes, he said, 'We have given Indiramma houses to the poor and distributed Rs 9,000 crore in just 9 days under farmers' welfare. Social justice is possible only with the Congress Party.' He urged party cadres to ensure the grand success of the Social Justice Samara Bheri rally and said the party's Disciplinary Committee would look into MLA Anirudh Reddy's controversial statements. Goud also took a swipe at Union Minister G Kishan Reddy and former CM K Chandrashekar Rao, calling their bond a 'peculiar political friendship' and questioned, 'What is the connection between the secular Congress and the religious ideology-based parties?'. New ration cards in Telangana: CM to start distribution from this date; here's what you should know

Uttam Kumar Reddy has announced that the Telangana government will commence the distribution of new ration cards on July 14 at Tirumalagiri in the Tungaturthi constituency. The official launch will be conducted by Chief Minister A. Revanth Minister instructed district collectors to complete verification of all eligible applicants by July 13, ensuring that no deserving family is excluded. He emphasized the importance of a transparent and corruption-free selection process for beneficiaries.'Our government is committed to providing ration cards to all eligible individuals without any form of bias,' he said, adding that bi-monthly review meetings will be held to monitor the implementation process the government's flagship free fine rice scheme, he noted that 6 kg of rice per person per month is being provided to around 3.10 crore people—approximately 84% of the state's population—through fair price shops. This initiative costs the government over ₹13,000 crore annually. To ensure continued supply, the government distributed three months' rations at once in June, July, and August, allotting 18 kg per person, 105 kg per Antyodaya family, and 30 kg per Annapurna the previous BRS government for overlooking food security and limiting ration card distribution, Mr. Reddy pointed out that while there were 89.73 lakh white ration cards in 2014, only 49,000 new cards were added during the BRS tenure, mainly during also highlighted Nalgonda's importance in the government's development agenda, mentioning efforts to revive the long-pending Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) project. The government is coordinating with the Indian Army's engineering division to conduct electro-magnetic LIDAR surveys, aimed at fast-tracking technical approvals and restarting addition, Mr. Reddy stressed the need to speed up completion of key irrigation projects such as Dindi, HLC lining, Nellikal Lift Irrigation Scheme, Pillayipalli Canal, Dharmareddy Canal, and several other critical works.
