Irrigation and Food & Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has announced that the Telangana government will commence the distribution of new ration cards on July 14 at Tirumalagiri in the Tungaturthi constituency. The official launch will be conducted by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The Minister instructed district collectors to complete verification of all eligible applicants by July 13, ensuring that no deserving family is excluded. He emphasized the importance of a transparent and corruption-free selection process for beneficiaries.'Our government is committed to providing ration cards to all eligible individuals without any form of bias,' he said, adding that bi-monthly review meetings will be held to monitor the implementation process closely.Highlighting the government's flagship free fine rice scheme, he noted that 6 kg of rice per person per month is being provided to around 3.10 crore people—approximately 84% of the state's population—through fair price shops. This initiative costs the government over ₹13,000 crore annually. To ensure continued supply, the government distributed three months' rations at once in June, July, and August, allotting 18 kg per person, 105 kg per Antyodaya family, and 30 kg per Annapurna family.Criticizing the previous BRS government for overlooking food security and limiting ration card distribution, Mr. Reddy pointed out that while there were 89.73 lakh white ration cards in 2014, only 49,000 new cards were added during the BRS tenure, mainly during by-elections.He also highlighted Nalgonda's importance in the government's development agenda, mentioning efforts to revive the long-pending Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) project. The government is coordinating with the Indian Army's engineering division to conduct electro-magnetic LIDAR surveys, aimed at fast-tracking technical approvals and restarting construction. In addition, Mr. Reddy stressed the need to speed up completion of key irrigation projects such as Dindi, HLC lining, Nellikal Lift Irrigation Scheme, Pillayipalli Canal, Dharmareddy Canal, and several other critical works.

Telangana Jagruthi Prez Kavitha urges AICC chief to pressurise Centre on 42 per cent BC reservation

Hyderabad, July 3 (UNI) Telangana Jagruthi president and BRS MLC K Kavitha today urged AICC President Mallikarjuna Kharge to pressurise the Union government to approve 42 per cent reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) in education, employment and local bodies. Kavitha, who met BC leader and Rajya Sabha MP R Krishnaiah earlier, said that the Congress government could issue an order to implement the 42 percent reservations for BCs. Although a bill was passed in the assembly, the central government needs to approve it, she said and demanded that the state government conduct elections to local bodies with 42 per cent BC reservations. Krishnaiah assured Kavitha of his support for the Jagruti Rail Roko on July 17. Kavitha, the daughter of BRS chief and former CM Rao (KCR) had earlier also urged the newly appointed BJP Telangana president N Ramchander Rao, asking him to take up the issue as a priority. Talking to reporters after releasing posters for Telangana Jagruthi's proposed rail roko on July 17, Kavitha said that Kharge's Telangana visit was incomplete without addressing the long-pending BC reservation issue. She claimed that neither Kharge nor Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, or Priyanka Gandhi had ever raised the issue of BC rights in Parliament. She also demanded that the state should immediately release the caste census data collected at the gram panchayat level, instead of conducting local body elections based on outdated data. Telangana Jagruthi, in collaboration with the United Phule Front, will intensify its agitation in the coming days, she added. UNI KNR SSP

"Betrayal of Telangana's people cuts deep," says BRS Working President KT Rama Rao

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], July 4 (ANI): Bharath Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President KT Rama Rao on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of ignoring Telangana's pressing concerns in Parliament. Rama Rao said Gandhi had failed to raise key promises made during the 2014 bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, including national status for an irrigation project and the establishment of the Bayyaram steel plant. He also accused Gandhi of remaining silent on the Banakacherla project in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, which he claimed could harm Telangana farmers by diverting their water rights from the Godavari river. In a post on X, Rama Rao wrote, 'Rahul Gandhi's betrayal of Telangana's people cuts deep, as he completes one year as Leader of Opposition in Loksabha. Not once has he raised Telangana's burning issues in Parliament or the unfulfilled promises of the 2014 Bifurcation Act-- Be it National status to an irrigation project or the Bayyaram steel factory. His silence on Andhra Pradesh's Banakacherla project, which threatens to divert Telangana farmers' Godavari water rights, is complicity!' He also criticised Gandhi for what he called 'hollow promises' during the Telangana Assembly elections and accused him of disappearing from the scene after the polls. 'After peddling hollow #420promises in Telangana's assembly polls, he faded like a shadow, leaving Congress to bask in power while Telangana's aspirations rot. Jai Telangana,' KTR said. In a separate statement, the BRS leader also targeted Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He demanded to know why the BJP-led Central government had not ordered a probe into corruption allegations against the Congress government in Telangana. Referring to Shah's earlier speech in Nizamabad, in which he had described the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government as an 'ATM' for the party high command, Rama Rao questioned the lack of follow-up. 'Why hasn't the Union Home Minister acted upon it? What is stopping the Centre from initiating a probe through the CBI or ED?' he asked. Accusing both national parties of collusion, he said, 'In Delhi, they stage a mock fight. In Telangana, they strike secret deals. Is BJP shielding Revanth Reddy because it cannot take on BRS alone?' Sorry state of affairs, remarks HC judge as online trolls target him

Vijayawada: This is another case for trolls, Justice K Srinivas Reddy remarked while granting bail to the accused in the Tirupati laddu ghee adulteration case on Thursday. The AP high court judge was referring to the social media trolling he was subjected to for the last two days, after his orders in the culpable homicide case under which former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and other YSRCP leaders were booked. The trolling started after he stayed all further proceedings against Jagan and others in the Cheeli Singaiah hit-and-run case. Justice Reddy also expressed his displeasure during the hearing of two different petitions, filed by former minister Kakani Govardan Reddy seeking grant of bail and challenging his judicial remand. As public prosecutor Menda Lakshmi Narayana sought time on the ground that notices to the complainant in the SC/ST case were not served yet, senior counsel Manohar Reddy, arguing on behalf of Kakani, remarked that the public prosecutor is trying to ensure that the hearing does not take place before the bench of Justice Srinivas Reddy. "You know everything... sorry state of affairs," Justice Reddy said, responding to his remark. Though Justice Reddy is not the roster judge to hear criminal petitions, the matters were posted before him as Justice T Mallikharjuna Rao, who holds the roster, went on leave. He posted the hearing on the petitions of Kakani to Tuesday, by when Justice Rao is expected to return. He was also reluctant to hear the petition of former YSRCP MLA Topudurthi Prakash Reddy for grant of bail, which he posted to the same day. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Tinnitus: what this grandson discovered will surprise you Hearing Magazine Undo This is not the first time judges of AP high court were targeted on social media. The high court earlier took up a suo moto petition and directed the CBI to register cases against those who post derogatory comments on social media about judges. The case is still under investigation, and the petition is open before the high court.
