Former This Morning presenter 'dumped' by ITV after wild conspiracy rant left her cancelled

Daily Record02-07-2025
Emma Kenny was a regular presenting on This Morning before she was 'cancelled' for her outspoke views on the covid-19 pandemic - leaving her stuck for money and nearly losing her house.
Emma Kenny, a former presenter on This Morning, took a new direction in her career after being 'cancelled' during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Earlier this week, she made headlines by revealing the birth of her fourth child at the age 52. Emma, a television psychologist, is already a mother to Tyde, 22, Evan, 20, and nearly two-year-old Etta Blue.

She and her 34-year-old husband, Pete, have welcomed their newborn daughter. Emma shared a series of heartfelt Instagram posts announcing the arrival of baby Ella-Grey, writing: "Say hi Ella-Grey And then we were six!

"Say hello Ella-Grey! This morning she entered the world with a very loud cry. The Royal Bolton hospital have been fantastic and ensured that we have both been looked after brilliantly."
The arrival of Emma's baby comes after a challenging period in both her personal and professional life, the Mirror reports. Just a few weeks before giving birth, she experienced the sudden loss of her mum.
Opening up about her grief, she stated: "I lost my mum suddenly a couple of weeks back, and it's really strange knowing that neither of my babies will get to know their grandparents…..they would have loved them as older my boys did before them."
Years earlier, Emma claims she lost her presenting role on This Morning due to her controversial views on coronavirus. She revealed the fallout left her financially struggling, nearly costing her home as work dried up during lockdown.
The mum-of-four posted a series of anti-lockdown tweets on X, formerly Twitter. Around that time, reports surfaced suggesting that ITV bosses were unhappy with her actions - claims that were denied at the time.

Emma sparked controversy after publicly stating she would ignore government guidelines and advice on coronavirus safety in the lead-up to Christmas. She was slammed for tweeting: "I'm going to have parties, see my friends, invite EVERYONE around!"
"I'm going to visit elderly neighbours and take cake. I'm not wearing a mask and I'm going to do what as a human I was born to do… socialise."

Although the tweets were deleted, the TV personality was met with furious backlash.
A source told the Mail on Sunday: "Those at the top put up with it for a few months but it got to the point where the backlash was too much." Addressing rumours about her absence from the daytime show, Emma shared on Twitter that she had recently signed a new contract with ITV.
She told her followers: "Just to make it clear I've just signed a new contract with This Morning and count the staff and many presenters as friends. Thanks for the messages of support. Xxxxxx." And a spokesperson for This Morning revealed: "Emma Kenny is one of a host of expert contributors we continue to feature on the show."

However, in a later interview with Johnny Seifert on the Secure The Insecure podcast, Emma revealed that she faced financial difficulties after being let go and even consulted a crisis manager. She said: "I was cancelled. So it wasn't a thing of, 'I might be.' It happened. And it's the reality of working in a field where there is a safe space that you are allowed to remain in. And if you step outside of that, there are consequences."
The ordeal came at the worst time as her father had died by suicide just days earlier. Despite this, she returned to work as a freelancer six days later but soon after her contracts were getting cancelled after she spoke out.

She continued: "I was also managing some of my family's struggles because people in my family just couldn't go back to work. I was helping manage that on a financial level. So there were all these things that were happening around me. And then COVID hit.
"When I started to speak out, it was really difficult because I started to get all my contracts cancelled. And then my husband, who is a very lovely man, he also knew that I was the person that really brings the income in."
"He works with me and he's amazing. Without him, I couldn't do what I do, but the point is it was me challenging our economic standard and I challenged it to the point where we nearly lost our home."

Emma was advised by a PR consultant to issue an apology for her remarks, but she refused.
Emma concluded: "I was told by a crisis manager to do things like take the vaccine live on TV. And I basically said that the consequence of that for me would be the end of my mental health. And also the end of my credibility as a human being for myself."
Not everything was lost, as Emma shifted her focus to narrating true crime stories and launching her own YouTube channel, Emma Kenny True Crime. In a new post she opened up, revealing that she didn't think she could find happiness again after her father's tragic death.

"When my dad took his life in 2019, I never thought I would be happy again, but in truth I couldn't have been more wrong, I've learnt we are more than simply built to withstand suffering, we are programmed to learn, and grow, and develop courage through it. I cannot change what happened but I can embrace the gifts that grief brought me," she wrote.
Closing her post, she expressed her gratitude to everyone who supported her during the difficult times. She said: "Thank you to all of you who have spent years supporting me. You stood beside me in the dark times and you gave me so many new career directions that these days I don't need invites off the MSM! Thank you, all of you, for so much more than you could possibly know xxx."
Emma kept her fourth pregnancy private until announcing it last week, sharing a mirror selfie showing her baby bump and telling her fans: "Last show before I give birth! 9 months pregnant, quite happy to go into labour on stage….so any of you with health care qualifications at my Killer Couples, Liverpool Empire show tonight please be prepared!"
"Back on stage in September…..but for now it's time for baby, 2 year old, filming YouTube and Facebook and going on a road trip to Italy the minute this babies fast track passport arrives! X," she continued.

Fans were quick to congratulate Kate, though the seemingly subtle dig towards the JoJo drama in the caption where Kate said 'stupidly' didn't appear to go unnoticed. 'Happy for you both, just glad to see you happy,' one fan wrote. A second boldly added: 'Upgradeeeeeeeee'. A third chimed in: 'The happy ending you deserve (and we all wanted!). The Australian content creator dated the former Dance Moms celeb for a short period of time before JoJo called it quits, leading Kath to admit they were in a 'dark place' due to the breakup. It's strongly suggested that the sudden break up came after JoJo started to catch feelings for former Love Island contestant, Chris Hughes. Chris, 32, and JoJo, 22, were contestants on Celebrity Big Brother UK at the same time earlier in the year. Their close on-screen bond sparked speculation of cheating, but both JoJo and Kate have publicly stated that cheating played no part in their decision to part ways. Chris and JoJo were close, but only made their relationship official in June. Shortly beforehand JoJo made it clear to the public that they identified as "queer, not lesbian". Emmerdale newcomer Joe Absolom reveals dark story for drug dealer villain

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) AFTER making a dramatic debut on Emmerdale last month, Joe Absolom's new drug dealing character, Ray, keeps mysteriously disappearing – only to return with more dodgy antics up his sleeve. And this week, he is back again only this time, he scuppers any plans of a romantic date between April Windsor and her homeless pal, Dylan Penders. Sign up for the Entertainment newsletter Sign up 3 Joe Absolom has teased darkness for his Emmerdale villain Ray Credit: Getty 3 Joe plays the villainous Ray in Emmerdale and there are dark things ahead Credit: ITV 3 The actor shot to fame as Matthew in EastEnders Credit: BBC The pair had arranged to finally go out together but after Ray returns to the village again, Dylan suddenly abandons the plans. It soon becomes apparent he's being paid by Ray to deliver his drugs to clients in return for huge wads of cash. Dylan has also been trying to hide a stab wound by thug Kyle. For former EastEnders and Doc Martin star, Joe, 46, the plotlines have proved a blast to film with the actor going as far today to reveal he has always rated the soap as being the 'friendliest' since shooting to fame 25 years ago in EastEnders. He even admits he used to think some Hollyoaks' stars came across more like 'footballers' than soap actors. Joe reveals: 'Everyone has been so welcoming since I joined and I am loving filming the scenes. 'What is funny is years ago when we went to the Soap Awards, we – the EastEnders mob - would all say at the end of it, 'Emmerdale are the nicest lot'. 'You'd speak to these guys and you'd see the Hollyoaks' guys flexing, they would always wear white dinner jackets - slightly like footballers. 'Coronation Street were all interesting people. Emmerdale were always the most genuine and lovely people, so when I saw Jeff (Hordley), we were laughing about how we'd met many years ago. 'The fact they have been really nice since I arrived has helped.' He teases the plot lines will get very dark in the coming weeks with some drugs even going astray. Horrifying moment Emmerdale's April comes face to face with man who committed disgusting act on her while homeless 'It's also set to cause more upset for fan favourite Marlon Dingle as his daughter April, played by Amelia Flanagan, looks set to get embroiled in the drug drama. 'Ray is such a fun character to play,' adds Joe. 'We've been filming in the park and my character sees the youngsters as easy manipulation. 'I can't say too much but Ray has been handing over wads of cash! I get to peel off fifty pounds notes!' Last month, Joe revealed how his 14-year-old son, Casper – Cass for short - in particular thinks it is pretty cool his dad is playing a drug gangster. Today he confides, Cass,14, has been inspired to follow in his footsteps one day. And Joe – also a proud dad to Lyla, 18, and Daisy, 12 - says he has seen his own life flash before him as he encourages Cass to pursue his dreams. But he smiles as he reveals his son definitely doesn't have any plans to land a role in a soap. Instead, he's hoping to one day star in a Netflix drama. 'Cass wants to be an actor, 'says Joe. 'He is desperate. He is like 'dad I want to be on Stranger Things!' This is the YouTube and Netflix generation; they want to be in Marvel films!' Joe goes on to admit, however, he initially tried to put his son off before seeing just how talented he is. 'I told him 'Don't do it, get a proper job'. It's a strange business to go into and there is rejection. 'I do feel it as a parent but he is really good. Genuinely so and I have now helped him get an agent. He has been in Bugsy and he's had some very good auditions and got very close.' Reflecting on how much his life has turned a full circle, Joe adds: 'What is weird is my dad used to be my chaperone and what's weird is there I was recently sitting in Manchester taking him to an audition! It feels like the circle of life is turning.' How will he feel if Cass does land his first major TV role? 'It's surreal,' replies Joe. 'I've explained the risks and I do worry about the cost on a young mind and rejection but he says he is up for it! Fingers crossed!' Whilst Cass dreams of being the next Stranger Things star, Joe says the role of British soaps still have a huge one to play. He praises soap bosses for ensuring they can now be streamed, like Netflix shows. Says Joe: 'The way people watch TV is changing but soaps are finding their way in that people will come back to the recurring storylines. Soap's most harrowing teen storylines We take a look at other harrowing teen soap storylines from soaps Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks. Belle Dingle's schizophrenia in Emmerdale - Belle's (Eden Taylor-Draper) traumatic journey in Emmerdale took a dark turn when, after accidentally killing her best friend Gemma at just 16, her mental health began to spiral. The storyline, which saw Belle struggling with her grief and guilt, showcased her battle with hearing Gemma's voice inside her head, leading to a dramatic decline in her well-being. Hannah Ashworth's anorexia in Hollyoaks - Viewers were horrified as they watched Hannah (Emma Rigby), a seemingly innocent teen, spiral into dangerous behavior, starving herself in an attempt to achieve what she thought was the ideal body. As Hannah's condition worsened, the storyline became more intense, culminating in her being hospitalised for two months as she fought for her life. Bethany Platt's grooming ordeal in Coronation Street - Vulnerable schoolgirl, played by Lucy Fallon, was at the centre of one of Corrie's darkest storylines to date when she fell under the spell of her older boyfriend and sexual predator. The controversial scenes saw Nathan groom and manipulate the 16-year-old before coercing her into sleeping with his friends, with one of them raping her. Whitney Dean's abuse from Tony in EastEnders - Since the age of 12, she had been in a twisted relationship with her stepmum Bianca's boyfriend, Tony King. The predator had groomed young Whit (Shona McGarty), making her believe she was in love and planning to run away with him. On her 16th birthday, the traumatised teen finally revealed the years of abuse to Bianca. Tony was swiftly sent to prison sentenced for 13 years. 'They have characters who they love and the fact soaps are still part of the schedules on every channel is a testament to the work they put into it and the quality.' As for what lies ahead for Ray and his drug dealing and Joe warns: 'Ray is determined to get what he wants, so that lends itself to many different scenarios. 'If people say: 'we don't want to grow (the drugs) anymore', it puts everyone in a difficult situation. 'Ray knows what they are growing is so good and it sells well. He is very manipulative!' Emmerdale runs every weekdays on ITV1 and STV1 at 7.30pm.

Coronation Street star signs new contract to keep her on soap for another year – and escapes cost-cutting axe

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) CORONATION Street star Jane Hazlegrove has revealed she's signed a new contract to remain on the soap. The actress - who plays Bernie Winter in the ITV soap - has put pen to paper for another year on the cobbles after revealing she only joined the soap to pay for her new bathroom. 2 Jane Hazlegrove will remain on Coronation Street for at least another year Credit: ITV 2 Bernie collapses on her wedding day struggling to breathe Credit: ITV And it means she's escaped the axe as bosses scramble to save costs. Jane first appeared on the cobbles in 2019 as Gemma Winter and Paul Foreman's estranged mother Bernie, but since then she's become a fan favourite. And luckily for them, she's going nowhere. Speaking to My Weekly, Jane revealed: 'I only came into Coronation Street for 10 episodes to get a new bathroom. 'I'd run out of money and when they said, 'Will you come and do Corrie for a bit?' I thought, 'Yes! That will pay for a nice white suite!. 'I've been here for six years now and I've just signed for another year. It's a lovely place to work. I feel very blessed.' The star's character Bernie is set to marry Dev Alahan next week in a huge soap wedding - but typically things go horrifically wrong. As she heads to the ceremony, Bernie realises she's forgotten a locket from her late son Paul so heads back to the house. But while there she finds it being burgled and she confronts them - before eventually rushing over to tie the knot. However after arriving and dancing herself down the aisle Bernie suffers a health emergency and stops breathing. Jane explained: 'Suddenly Bernie can't breathe, the poor love, and ends up in A&E. 'They've lost the plot!' rage Coronation Street viewers as they call out baffling Bernie Winter blunder 'Dev, and a lot of people, think she's on her way out because it's quite serious. 'She is really frightened, this has come from nowhere and she can't breathe. It' s terrifying. Is she going to be okay?' She added: 'That's what is so brilliant about Coronation Street, you don't know what you're going to get until you open the page of the script and that's what is so fantastic about how it plays out – we've got this woman raving down the aisle and the next minute she's in casualty, pardon the pun! Coronation Street's 2024 shock exits Corrie has said goodbye to several cast members this year. Let's break down who's left the famous soap: Eliza Woodrow (Savannah Kunyo) has said farewell to Corrie to start a new life in Germany. The youngster moved to live with her dad Dom Everett, who went back on the £10,000 bribe Eliza's grandfather Stu had offered to keep him out of her life. Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) will bow out of the soap this summer when he loses his fight with motor neurone disease (MND) in tragic scenes. After being diagnosed last year, the fan favourite was devastated to learn he only had months left to live. Viewers know he is planning to take his own life to end his suffering. Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) departed the cobbles after being offered the opportunity of a lifetime to study in America. Though she struggled to decide with her stepdad Paul's impending death from MND, she was convinced she had to live her life to the full. Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) has struggled with the sudden departure of his father Peter from the cobbles. The Weatherfield legend left his family and loved ones behind on Boxing Day, 2023, when his wife Carla Connor encouraged him to travel around the world with a friend. Simon's been on a downward spiral ever since and his exit could end in tragedy. Alya Nazir is set to leave the cobbles as actress Sair Khan prepares to go on maternity leave ahead of the birth of her first child. It looks likely she'll be heading to Dublin after securing a lucrative new job, leaving her colleague and fling Adam Barlow behind. Show stalwart Sue Cleaver, who plays Eileen Grimshaw, is taking a break to star in the Sister Act The Musical UK tour. She will be back filming in May once her dates on the tour come to an end. Her character left the Street after her son Jason broke his back after falling off a moped in Asia. 'The writers throw all kinds of things at you and you just hope and pray you give credence and justice to whatever they've written. 'Who knows what Bernie is going to do next, that's why I love playing her.'
