Oasis support act says first show will be 'a moment' hours before concert starts
Cast's John Power has shared an insight into the Oasis reunion tour which kicks off tomorrow. The Liverpudlian and his bandmates will take to the stage at Cardiff's Principality Stadium on Friday night, in front of a sold-out crowd as they open the entire tour.
Almost 15 years to the day after fans last saw Noel and Liam Gallagher on stage, the brothers announced last August that they had put their differences aside and would be joining forces again. Now, almost 12 months after that euphoric announcement, the wait is almost over.
Tomorrow, they'll take to the stage to perform some of their biggest hits for the first time in 16 years, a concert that fans would have never expected. The band will be joined by Cast and Richard Ashcroft across the mammoth shows taking place in Cardiff, Manchester, Edinburgh, London and Dublin.
But just hours before the doors open, John, 57, has shared his excitement, given that he and his bandmates will be the first people to perform on the tour. Speaking on Virgin Radio UK, he said: "Opening for the Oasis, it's gonna be amazing. The first chord of this tour is going to be one that I hit.
"I'm just about now getting excited. I mean, the thing is, the way I live my life and look at things is, I kind of take each day as it comes and not try and look too far ahead. But there's no doubt about it now that, you know, Friday is upon us, and the first chord of this tour is going to be one I hit.

"So it's a quite, a you know, it's going to be quite a moment, I think, Cardiff, Principality Stadium." It comes as no surprise that Cast have joined the bill, with the band having opened for Liam last year on his Definitely Maybe tour, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Oasis' debut album of the same title.
Meanwhile, Noel had previously said watching the band was similar to a "religious experience." Speaking to NME last year about the tour, John said: "We're blown away by it.
"We had the nod and were just waiting for the official announcement. Now we can bask in it. It's a stamp of approval from our peers, and I appreciate that massively."
He went on to say: "It kind of reaffirms our legacy and authenticates the road and journey that we've been on as a band. And now us, Richard Ashcroft and Oasis – talk about Northern Soul! That's some line-up." But John's connection with Oasis goes back decades, having met Liam when he was just 16.
John had gone to see his former band, The Las's, playing in Manchester, when a bold Mancuian teen approached him while he was outside smoking, asking for a cigarette. He declined, saying he was having a moment. Three years later, when Oasis were launching with their debut single Supersonic, John went to see them live. "I went to see them," he told Mojo. He added: "And Liam came straight over to me and was like: 'You told me to f**k off!' It was him, he must have been about 16 back then."
But the pair went on to laugh about the situation and the groups have since become great friends.

Liam Gallagher stuck up for Scotland after his older brother Noel made some rather controversial comments which Scots fans won't be happy about. What time will Oasis take to stage at Murrayfield and is there a curfew?
Oasis' three sold-out shows in Scotland are fast approaching and fans might want to know what the timings are Fans have been waiting since 2009 to hear Oasis play live again. Now, the band is ready to delight audiences once more with Oasis Live '25 Tour. Dubbed a "global cultural phenomenon," the tour got underway in Cardiff earlier this month. Since then, Liam and Noel Gallagher have entertained audiences in Manchester's Heaton Park and London's Wembley Stadium, which the Record reviewed here. The gigs have been attended by hundreds of thousands of revellers. And Scots won't be missing out on the presumably once-in-a-life-time music event, either. On August 8, 9, and 12, 200,000 music fans will descend on Murrayfield Stadium to hear tunes like 'Wonderwall' and 'Live Forever'. But some might already be wondering when they'll need to head for the train or bus home when the last song plays out. So, in terms of timings, when could the Murrayfield gigs end, and will there be a curfew for gig-goers? Well, Murrayfield's website states that organisers "do not know the time that Oasis will be on stage yet". They assured the public that they will "share this and when [they] are able to". However, while official stage times have yet to be published, organisers expect gates will open at 5pm on each show day, with the curfew expected to be 10.30pm, according to Murrayfield Community Council. However, it is worth noting that Wembley's curfew changed between the Oasis concert landing on a weekday and a weekend. On the Friday and Saturday, July 25 and 26, the curfew was 10.45pm, while it was set at 10.30pm for Wednesday's show, July 30, and tonight's gig, Sunday, August 3. It is only a slight amendment of 15 minutes, but something to be aware of for Edinburgh. Similarly, gates opened for the weekend shows at 5pm, whereas the Sunday show will see attendees start to stream in at 4.30pm. In any case, every venue recommends arriving early to allow time for security checks and to enjoy the full live experience, including two incredible support acts, The Verve's Richard Ashcroft and Liverpool band Cast. Both have history with Oasis, with Britpop band Cast having supported the brothers previously back in 1996 at Knebworth. Richard Ashcroft has also been involved in a collab with Liam Gallagher on stage in recent years. Snoop Dogg wants Oasis ticket for Scotland show as "that's my place and they are my people"
The US rapper famously loves Scotland and is also friends with Liam and Noel Gallagher, so is hoping they send him a ticket for Murrayfield. Snoop Dogg has vowed to come to Scotland next week if Oasis will send him a ticket to one of their sold out Murrayfield gigs. Liam and Noel are due to bring their sell-out reunion tou r to Edinburgh on Friday, Saturday and next Tuesday. In an exclusive interview with the Sunday Mail, Snoop, a huge fan of the band and friend of the Gallaghers, said: 'As soon as I heard they were making a comeback I knew I wanted to come and see them, and lets be real where else is Snoop gonna watch them than Scotland. "That's my place and they are my people. 'There is not long to go until they are in Scotland now – but if the boys send me tickets I am there. "It's a plane journey away – I can be in Scotland in no time. I will clear my schedule and make sure I am there.' Snoop also urged the brothers to get back into the studio and write a new album together rather than just playing their old favourite hits. He added: 'You know real music is not made the way it was used to – that's why it is so important bands like Oasis make a comeback. "This tour has seen huge demand – now my boys Noel and Liam have put their differences aside we got to hope they make some new music when they are done with this tour.' Snoop, 53, has been in Scotland several times and is a diehard Celtic fan. We previously revealed how he wanted to take a few Hoops stars to the Oasis gig. He said: 'People know I never need an excuse to come visit Scotland but yeah for real. 'I tried to sign Noel back in 2009 when he had left Oasis, it just never quite happened – but the main thing is they have got back together. "If my boy Noel is going to hook me up with tickets it would be cool if a couple of the Celtic players could also come.' Around 200,000 fans are set to descend on Edinburgh over three days. Oasis kicked off their highly anticipated reunion tour in Cardiff last month – walking on to the stage together for the first time since breaking up 16 years ago.
