Narendra Modi congratulates Rajinikanth
PM Modi posted a file photo of when Rajinikanth met him in Delhi on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote, 'Congratulations to Thiru Rajinikanth Ji on completing 50 glorious years in the world of cinema. His journey has been iconic, with his diverse roles having left a lasting impact on the minds of people across generations. Wishing him continued success and good health in the times to come.'
The PM posted the same note on X in Tamil too. Replying to his post, Rajinikanth wrote, 'Respected @narendramodi Modi ji, I am deeply grateful for your warm wishes. It is truly an honour to receive them from a leader I have long held in the highest regard. Thank you for your kind words. Jai Hind.'
50 years of Rajinikanth
On 15 April this year, it has been 50 years since Rajinikanth debuted on-screen with the 1975 K Balachander film Apoorva Raagangal. The film saw him play an estranged husband who meets his wife after years. At 74, Rajinikanth is still one of the most enduring and successful commercial stars of Tamil cinema, enjoying a cult following with a pan-India fan base.
Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj stars Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Upendra and Aamir Khan in lead roles. The film was released in theatres on 14 August and it collected ₹150 crore worldwide on its opening day. This makes it the highest-grossing opener for Tamil cinema. As of day 2, Coolie has already crossed the ₹100 crore mark in India alone. It remains to be seen how much it makes in its first weekend.

The user added, 'I need someone from India Twitter to put me on game.' One of the most viral tweets read, 'I've never seen anything like this. They're charging 3X what a regular seat for other movies would go for. Very impressive.' A Rajini fan responded, 'Man, you've no idea what you're in for. Book a ticket and you're welcome!' Another added, clarifying, 'This is literally Kollywood's Avengers moment (it isn't even Bollywood, more like South Indian regional cinema with a few pan-Indian star cameos).' Rewriting the laws of romance

A searing romantic drama about identity, power, and the cost of love in the world we live in, Dhadak 2 initiates conversations not usually explored by mainstream Bollywood movies. The directorial debut by Shazia Iqbal is a remake of the Tamil movie Pariyerum Perumal and is getting a lot of critical praise. Actor Tripti Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi play the characters of two young law students who have to fight for their relationship. The original films which inspired Dhadak and Dhadak 2 were huge box office hits. Were you under any pressure when you took up the film? Tripti: It depends on how much pressure you take. Honestly, I don't take any pressure at all since it takes away the joy of acting. If you go on the sets with pressure, you won't be able to do justice to the character. From the first day itself, you have to have trust the director. What matters is that you go back home feeling happy and content. Siddhant: I call it a spiritual sequel. Somewhere, the essence is the same, but the world is different. That first one is a colourful film, but this is more gritty and intense; the tone is completely different. However, when we started doing this film, we always felt that we should raise the benchmark for this film. Sometimes sequels are made with an effect, but we wanted it to be better than the first one, with double impact. I think this film has it. I am confident that when you see the film, you will react.
