Take a look here:
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and led by superstar Rajinikanth, the action thriller is already being called one of the most anticipated Indian films of 2025. This marks the first-ever collaboration between Rajinikanth and Lokesh.
As Lokesh wraps up the final stages of post-production, he shared an emotional moment that followed a recent screening of the film with Rajinikanth.
'After watching the film in the dubbing studio, he (Rajinikanth) hugged me and said, 'It looked like Thalapathi for me!' That made my day, and that was the night I slept very peacefully after many months. That is what I was telling my friends, too. If at all, I am doing a film with Rajini sir, it has to be somewhere close to Thalapathi. I cannot write a film on par with Mani sir's quality, as his film and writing is unmatched… But I get a little satisfaction when we compare that film with this one. Listening to the same words from Rajini sir was an achievement," she shared during a chat with The Hollywood Reporter India.
Coolie boasts an impressive ensemble cast featuring Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna Akkineni and Upendra Rao in crucial roles. The film also includes Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, and Sathyaraj in significant parts. Adding to the excitement, Pooja Hegde will light up the screen with a special dance number.
Besides Coolie, Rajinikanth is gearing up for Jailer 2, helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar. The sequel will continue the story of Jailer, with the superstar returning as the fierce and beloved 'Tiger" Muthuvel Pandian.
Superstar Rajinikanth is back to doing what he does best—smashing records! And this time, it's not just at the box office but in the OTT world too. His upcoming film Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, has reportedly been snapped up by a major streaming giant for a jaw-dropping Rs 120 crore, if reports are to be believed.

If people think that controversies only erupted in Bollywood in the 2000s and the following years, then they are completely wrong. What if we tell you that controversies in Indian cinema go way back to the 1940s and 50s? Yes, that's correct. Today, we will discuss an actress who became embroiled in controversy when she romanced her own brother on-screen. If you are wondering who this actress was, let us tell you — we are talking about none other than Minoo Mumtaz. Who is Minoo Mumtaz? Minoo is the younger sister of legendary comedian Mehmood and the aunt of Lucky Ali. Minoo made her mark in Hindi cinema at the young age of just 13. Her father, Mumtaz Ali, was also a famous actor and dancer at Bombay Talkies. However, when Ali's career was destroyed due to alcohol addiction, his daughter Minoo Mumtaz took on the responsibility of caring for her seven siblings and joined a drama troupe. When poverty struck, Minoo, despite not being the eldest, had to take up the household responsibilities by performing in plays. After her, her elder brother Mehmood also started working as a child artist in films. When Minoo entered films with the 1955 movie Sakhi Hakim, she was just 13 years old. Minoo Mumtaz's elder brother and comedian Mehmood was married to Meena Kumari's sister, Madhu. Because of this relationship, Meena Kumari, who was the sister of Minoo's sister-in-law, helped her a lot. It was Meena Kumari who changed her name from Malikunnisa to Minoo Mumtaz when she entered the film industry. Suniel Shetty On Salman Khan, Jackie Shroff: ‘They'd Do My Film Without Asking Why'
Last Updated: Suniel Shetty says Jackie Shroff and Salman Khan are still just a call away, not out of obligation, but their deep-rooted brotherhood. Suniel Shetty has always been admired for his humility and loyalty, and in a recent interview with Pinkvilla, he opened up about his decades-long bond with Salman Khan and Jackie Shroff. These iconic Bollywood friendships, rooted in trust and mutual respect, have stood the test of time. Recalling the early days, Suniel said, 'They were already stars. Just them walking into my shop was a big deal. It was huge publicity for me, but that's not why they came. Jackie Shroff is my hero, and Salman Khan is my friend. It's their humility that they talk about these things in public. That just shows the bond we share." Suniel stressed that their relationships were never transactional. 'Even today, Jackie is just a phone call away. Same with Salman. If I call and ask him to be in a film, he won't even ask why. Not because I helped them back then, but because that's the kind of respect and brotherhood we have always had." Their heartwarming history was revisited during a Kaun Banega Crorepati special episode in 2021, where both Suniel and Jackie appeared together. Suniel fondly reminisced, 'We've been friends for 45 years. We first met at places like Pastry Palace, Wonderworld, and Scandal Point—hangout spots for jobless guys like us. Jackie says I always kept clothes ready for him, but he always paid. Still, he would sit outside my shop just to make it look popular. That's the kind of friend he is." Jackie also recalled a deeply emotional moment. 'My father had a severe reaction to penicillin… Suniel offered his own house without a second thought. I stayed there with my father for 10–15 days." Salman Khan once shared a touching memory at IIFA 2022: 'I didn't have enough money to shop. I went to Suniel's store and had my eyes on a stone-wash shirt and a wallet. He saw me struggling and just gifted both to me. That stayed with me forever." First Published: July 25, 2025, 23:45 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
