‘Policy paralysis in TN led to chaos, confusion in univs'
"Despite the progressive intent of the National Education Policy, there appears to be a visible lack of understanding and clarity on the part of the state govt in implementing the policy across state universities," Balagurusamy said in a letter to chief minister M K Stalin.
He further said: "There is an immediate need for a clear roadmap that balances national education goals with the unique socio-economic and linguistic fabric of Tamil Nadu."
He also drew attention to the lack of vice-chancellors, regular registrars, and controllers of examinations in state universities. "When a university lacks good leadership, it fails to function effectively, neglects academic excellence, and loses credibility as a place of learning and innovation," he said.
"Many universities suffer from an acute faculty shortage due to a lack of recruitment for many years. Temporary and ad-hoc arrangements compromise teaching quality and research output.

State universities are also struggling with insufficient funds for salaries, laboratories, libraries, research work, and student hostels," he further said.

"Existing syllabi in many universities are outdated with limited industry linkage or relevance to employability. Excessive bureaucratic interference and delays in decision-making from govt bodies hinder academic and administrative autonomy," Balagurusamy said.
He said the state universities, with a few exceptions, lag in research output, patents, and global collaborations. For revival of higher education, he suggested forming a state higher education reforms task force to assess and recommend action plans and transparent and time-bound faculty recruitment drives.
He also asked the CM to enhance the state funding for research, infrastructure, and digital tools and facilitate greater autonomy while ensuring accountability through outcome-based metrics. He further said TN has the potential to emerge as a global hub for knowledge, innovation, and research."This can be realised only by revitalising our universities with bold, timely, and transformative interventions. I urge your office to take decisive steps in this direction," he said.

It furher provided them the list of electors who were there in the roll as on June 24, 2025, but are not in the draft electoral roll published Friday. On Saturday, RJD chief Tejashwi Yadav claimed his name was not in the roll. The claim turned out to be incorrect as a copy of the draft roll for the relevant booth in Digha assembly constituency lists not only Tejashwi as entry no. 416, but also his wife Rajshree as entry no. 445. The party has Tejashwi had earlier, while objecting to the non-inclusion of Aadhaar in list of documentation accepted under SIR, voiced the fear that his wife, who only has Aadhaar, may not be on the roll. EC is meanwhile issuing advertisements in print, TV and social media to create awareness among the electors of Bihar regarding the option of filing claims and objections. It will also set up special camps in all block-cum-office circles and urban local body offices, from 10 am to 5 pm on all days till September 1. Any elector of Bihar can check his name in the draft electoral roll by filling his EPIC number directly on the EC voters' portal and can also file claims and objections.

The Great Indian Kapil Show 3: Kapil Sharma takes a dig at Navjot Singh Sidhu's political career; says 'Biwi ka dil jeetna, party ka kya hai banda badal bhi leta hai...'
The Great Indian Kapil Show season 3 welcomed a popular couple, Parineeti Chopra and Raghav Chadha as special guests. The good-looking couple revealed many secrets about their love story and relationship. The episode was a full-on laugh riot with hilarious gags from Krushna Abhishek , Kiku Sharda and Sunil Grover. Parineeti and Raghav were seen having a gala time on the show and Raghav even disclosed many things about his political career. During a candid chat with Raghav, Kapil asked the young politician what he found more challenging—winning elections or winning his wife's heart. With a witty smile, Raghav replied, "The frequency is different. You have to win an election once every five years, but you have to win your wife's heart every hour." Hearing this, Kapil praised him and others cheered for him. Just then Kapil pulled Navjot Singh Sidhu 's leg by cracking a hilarious punch on his political career. He said, "Biwi ka dil jeetna actually, party ka kya hai, woh toh aap kabhi bhi badal sakte ho." (A person can always switch political parties. Right Paaji) and then he looked at Sidhu for validation. This left everyone in splits of laughter including Parineeti and Raghav. He then stated, "Look at the power of love and art! We have people from different political parties under the same roof. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like If you have a mouse, play this game for 1 minute Navy Quest Undo If we count your former party, we have people from three parties here." Sidhu quickly added, "India has around 30 to 40 languages, 40 different cultures and people from different castes and communities living together. Four parties surely co-exist." Raghav supports Sidhu and says that's the beauty of India. During the beginning of the episode, Raghav walked barefoot on TGIKS stage. When Kapil asked him about the reason, he informed the host that someone stole his shoes from backstage. Just then, Krushna Abhishek and Kiku Sharda make a dramatic entry dressed as female security officers, Mona and Sona, holding Raghav's shoes in their hands. They cheerfully address Raghav as their jiju and demand money in exchange for returning his shoes, claiming they are performing the traditional joota churayi ritual. Entering the stage with the chant, 'East or West, Raghav jiju is the best,' they leave everyone in splits. When Kapil tries to scold them for their antics, Krushna (as Mona) quips, 'Kapil is just jealous because Parineeti is here with her husband, and his flirting skills are currently on flight mode!' Kapil quickly covers up by playfully calling Parineeti his sister. Hilarious Archana Puran Singh memes flood Twitter after Navjot Singh Sidhu resigns as Punjab Congress chief

Who is Jeanine Pirro? Trump loyalist and ex-Fox News host confirmed as top US attorney; wins Senate approval
The US Senate on Saturday confirmed Jeanine Pirro, a well-known Fox News personality and President Donald Trump loyalist, to a high-profile federal prosecutor role in Washington, DC. With a vote count of 50-45, Pirro secured confirmation as the US Attorney for the District of Columbia. Trump encouraged the Republican-controlled Senate to process his nominations during weekend sessions, following his return to the White House six months prior. Trump provisionally appointed Pirro to the role in May, continuing his pattern of selecting hosts from the conservative television network and steadfast supporters for influential governmental positions. Trump previously praised the outspoken 74-year-old former Westchester County district attorney when he nominated her, as being "in a class by herself." Who is Jeanine Pirro? Jeanine Pirro is a former judge, prosecutor, and prominent conservative television personality, best known for her outspoken commentary on Fox News. Before rising to national media fame, Pirro built a lengthy legal career in New York. She served as the district attorney of Westchester County from 1994 to 2005, becoming the first woman to hold that position. During her tenure, she established the nation's first domestic violence prosecution unit, according to the US Justice Department. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Switch to UnionBank Rewards Card UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo Earlier in her career, she also served as a county judge. Pirro transitioned to television in the 2000s, hosting shows like Judge Jeanine Pirro (2008–2011) and Justice with Judge Jeanine on Fox News, which ran for over a decade. She later became a co-host on Fox's popular roundtable show The Five. Her on-air segments often included inflammatory rhetoric and conspiracy theories—particularly surrounding the 2020 election—which at times led to temporary removals from the network lineup. She joins a growing list of cable news figures with political roles, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, both of whom had careers at Fox. Pirro is also a published author. Her 2018 book, Liars, Leakers, and Liberals: The Case Against the Anti-Trump Conspiracy, was described by The Washington Post as overly loyal to Donald Trump. Her personal life has not been without controversy. Her ex-husband, Albert Pirro, was convicted of tax evasion during her time as district attorney and later received a pardon from Trump during his presidency. Earlier, the Senate Judiciary Committee's leading Democrat, Dick Durbin, opposed Pirro's permanent appointment as US Attorney, describing her selection as a "rubber stamp for Donald Trump." Durbin referenced her role in spreading conspiracy theories about the 2020 election, which Trump lost to Biden, AP reported. Pirro was sued by Dominion Voting Systems after she promoted false claims of election fraud on Fox News. The company accused Fox of airing defamatory statements about its role in the vote count. Fox later settled the lawsuit for around $800 million.
