2024: 15 weeks of edging led to McBride finally scoring a touchdown in Week 17. Before that, he did everything else for this offense, with seven 10-target weeks and three 100-yard games. The Cardinals simply had nothing else remotely successful going in the passing game in 2025, and thus they fed McBride handily – he had over 25 percent of their targets. Only Malik Nabers and Drake London had more.
What's changed: McBride got paid, but now we have to reckon with an Arizona offense that seems bent on changing with Drew Petzing emphasizing pre-snap movement this offseason. Marvin Harrison Jr. showed up to early OTAs and minicamp looking like Cleatus the FOX Robot. Michael Wilson grows another year. There's not a for-sure target threat for McBride, but Harrison flipping him into the No. 2 target on the team would be rough for his chances of repeating as a top-2 finisher at the position.
2025 Outlook: We think McBride will be juuust fine. And he can offset some target regression by catching more touchdowns in 2025. Brock Bowers he ain't, but it's hard to find anyone else we'd rather bet on at the position than McBride.

Donovan's two-run double in the eighth inning secures Cardinals' win over Rockies

LOUIS (AP) — Brendan Donovan hit a go-ahead two-run double in the eighth inning, Miles Mikolas didn't give up a hit through 5 1/3 innings, and the St. Louis Cardinals sent the Colorado Rockies to their eighth straight loss, 3-2 on Monday night. Juan Mejia (1-1) failed to hold a 2-1 lead in the eighth inning, while Kyle Leahy (3-1) pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings after Mikolas went 6 2/3 innings, his longest outing of the season. Mikolas was positioned for a loss after Warming Bernabel and Brenton Doyle drove in runs in the seventh inning to give the Rockies a 2-1 lead. Tyler Freeman broke up Mikolas' no-hit bid in the sixth inning. He gave up four hits, a walk and struck out three. Mikolas lost his shot at a win after Jordan Beck bunted his way on and advanced to second on Nolan Gorman's throwing error. Doyle drove home Mickey Moniak to put the Rockies ahead. Brandon Aiyuk injury update: 49ers WR expected back about Week 6
The Cardinals play the 49ers in Week 3. Brandon Aiyuk isn't expected to be back from his knee injury by then. The Arizona Cardinals will likely not have to face one of the better wide receivers in the NFC West in one of their two games with the San Francisco 49ers. Their first matchup with the San Francisco 49ers, on the road in Week 3, 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk is not expected to play. They do have somewhat of a timeline, though. Head coach Kyle Shanahan estimated that Aiyuk could return in Week 6. He is currently on the PUP list as he recovers from the serious knee injury he suffered in Week 7 last season, tearing both his ACL and MCL. That means the 49ers' top two receivers in Week 3 will be Jauan Jennings and second-year receiver Ricky Pearsall. The, of course, still have running back Christian McCaffrey and tight end George Kittle, but their passing attack will not be as potent without the dynamic threat that Aiyuk is. In 2023, his last healthy season, he had 75 receptions for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns. In his last game against the Cardinals in Week 5 of 2024, he had eight receptions for 147 yards.
