After more than a year on the sidelines with a devastating leg injury, AEW star Eddie Kingston is one step closer to a return. In a new social media post, the "Mad King" has confirmed that he is finally back inside a wrestling ring and has resumed training.
The post is the most positive sign yet that the former Triple Crown champion is nearing the end of his long and arduous rehabilitation process. There is still no official word on when he will return to AEW television.
AEW Star Back In The Ring
In a post on his Instagram account on Wednesday, Kingston shared a photo from inside a wrestling ring. The caption was simple, profane, but full of the emotion and passion that has defined his career.
"F*cking ring," he wrote, signaling his relief and excitement to be back in his element.

This update comes after comments he made in June, where he stated that "they" were trying to rush him back before he was ready. This new post suggests he is now returning on his own terms.

A Horrific Injury For Eddie Kingston
Eddie Kingston has been out of action since May of 2024. He suffered a catastrophic leg injury at the NJPW Strong Resurgence event during a match where he lost the STRONG Openweight Championship to Gabe Kidd.
During the match, Kingston was put through a table at ringside, but the spot went wrong and his leg smashed violently into the steel guardrail. The impact resulted in a broken tibia and a torn ACL and meniscus, a complex and career-threatening combination of injuries.
The Reign of The "Mad King"
The injury came at the absolute peak of Eddie Kingston's 20-year career. After decades on the independent circuit, he had finally reached the top of the mountain. At the time of the injury, he was coming off a historic run as a triple crown champion, simultaneously holding the ROH World Championship, the NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship, and the inaugural AEW Continental Crown.
His journey to becoming a world champion was one of the most emotional and celebrated stories in recent wrestling history. To have that reign cut short by such a severe injury was a tragic development for the beloved brawler. His return to in-ring training is a monumental step in his comeback story.

Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband was months away from welcoming a grandchild when he died of cancer. Brandon Blackstock, who managed Clarkson before marrying her in 2013 and separating in 2020, died earlier this week after a three-year battle with cancer, according to NBC News. His death was announced on Aug. 7. He was 48. The news came one month after his 23-year-old daughter Savannah Blackstock-Lee, whom he shares with his first wife, Melissa Ashworth, announced that she was pregnant with her husband, Quentin Lee. 'We've been keeping a couple sweet surprises,' Blackstock-Lee wrote in a July 5 Instagram post, per People. 'One little girl will be making her arrival at the beginning of January and another beautiful girl named Julianna who has already been one of the greatest blessings to our family,' she continued in the post. 'This journey has been so special full of peace, excitement, and so much grace. We're growing again, and our hearts are so full,' the real estate agent concluded.
