The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Tuesday reminded airline companies to provide timely and accurate updates on passengers regarding their flights for a more convenient and hassle-free travel.
The department noted that delayed announcements or cancellations cause inconveniences to passengers and subject them to additional expenses for meals or accommodations.
According to the advisory issued through the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB), airlines are mandated by the Air Passenger Bill of Rights (APBR) to promptly inform passengers of any changes in their flights, delays, or cancellations.
'All airlines are reminded of their obligation, in accordance with the right of the passenger to receive full value of the service purchased, particularly Sections 8 to 11 of the APBR, to provide their passengers with accurate information in their flight status and to promptly notify passengers of any flight changes, delays, or cancellations,' the advisory read.
'Further, airlines are reminded to ensure passenger convenience and extend all possible assistance to passengers who may be affected by such changes,' it added.
The DOTr noted that airlines 'must uphold the full value of service purchased by passengers, and ensure their safety, convenience, and welfare at all times.' — Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News

Here's how the new footbridge replacing 'Mt. Kamuning' will look like

What netizens called "Mt. Kamuning" to refer to the steep footbridge in Quezon City will be replaced by a commuter-friendly Kamuning footbridge by December 2025. Its design is patterned after the EDSA Carousel North EDSA station, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said, according to GMA Integrated News reporter Joseph Morong. The new Kamuning footbridge will cost more than P80 million, the DOTr added. A video from DOTr showed the plan for the EDSA Carousel-Kamuning Station. DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon said the construction of the footbridge will not disrupt traffic flow due to the utilization of pre-fabricated construction methods. To recall, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. ordered the replacement of the Mt. Kamuning footbridge, which was criticized for its height of equivalent to four to five floors of a building. PinasPeaks, a hiking app and tracker that allows users to tick off Philippine mountains from their bucket lists, even hilariously listed Kamuning and Shaw as peaks. The DOTr has earmarked a budget of P89,129,402.57 for the rehabilitation, and the construction of the "Mt. Kamuning" footbridge replacement. —KG, GMA Integrated News
