Yankees Reportedly 'Interested' In Blockbuster Trade For Coveted $81M Star
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The New York Yankees have been on a roller coaster ride this season. They have a loaded roster, but they've struggled with injuries, most notably Aaron Judge's recent trip to the injured list. The trade deadline is approaching quickly, and the Yankees need to make some decisions. They're going to be buyers, as seen with their trades for Ryan McMahon and Amed Rosario, but it's unclear how aggressive they will be. If the Bronx Bombers are aggressive, there are a few names to acquire that could turn them back into World Series favorites. MLB's Mark Feinsand recently suggested the Yankees were interested in a trade for star St. Louis Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley in the coming days. ST LOUIS, MISSOURI - JULY 25: Ryan Helsley #56 of the St. Louis Cardinals delivers a pitch against the San Diego Padres in the ninth inning at Busch Stadium on July 25, 2025 in St... ST LOUIS, MISSOURI - JULY 25: Ryan Helsley #56 of the St. Louis Cardinals delivers a pitch against the San Diego Padres in the ninth inning at Busch Stadium on July 25, 2025 in St Louis, Missouri. More"Ryan Helsley is one of the most popular trade targets with no less than a half-dozen teams interested to varying degrees. Among the suitors, per sources, are the Yankees, (New York) Mets, (Los Angeles) Dodgers, (Philadelphia) Phillies, (Texas) Rangers, and (Toronto) Blue Jays," Feinsand wrote in a post to Twitter/X on Tuesday morning. The Yankees have seemingly preferred to hold onto prospects rather than swing big trades. The decision to go after McMahon rather than pay the prospect capital to acquire Eugenio Suárez suggests as much. If the Yankees are willing to go all in for this year, a deal for the expiring Helsley would work. Helsley is set to hit free agency at the end of the year, where Spotrac projects him to sign for $81 million. This would be a shocking move for the Yankees to make, but it would certainly move the needle. Keep an eye on the Bronx Bombers in the coming days. Cardinals' Calais Campbell is ready for collision at State Farm Stadium
Calais Campbell's leadership and physical strength may help motivate the Cardinals defense in 2025 Arizona Cardinals defensive tackle Calais Campbell has returned to his former team looking to bring a sense of physicality back to the franchise in 2025. Campbell has been intentional in building camaraderie with teammates at training camp, particularly with fellow defensive linemen L.J Collier and Dante Stills who are coming into their own as pass rushers in the NFL. Stills and Collier were both vital to the Cardinals pass rush in 2024 accounting for eight of the 30 total team sacks on the season. The Cardinals ranked just 15th in sacks per game last year, but with the addition of Campbell, fans may see those statistics improve soon. Outside linebacker Josh Sweat will also have an impact on how the team's pass rush fares. However, as a team veteran, players will desire to be edified by the leadership of Campbell in the locker room and his resilient career has merited him this responsibility. Campbell finished the 2024 regular season with an impressive 11.5 stuffs and five pass deflections. Sure, Campbell isn't the powerhouse he once was in his prime, but turning 39 years old in September, he has shown a consistent ability to be disruptive in the A-gap by stuffing the run and yielding quarterback pressures. Campbell's impact will be study piece on film as the season progresses and will play as a reference point to assess how well the Cardinals defense does versus the run this season. Cardinals training camp: OL Isaiah Adams is a player with something to prove in camp
Many players on the Cardinals' roster have something to prove in training camp. OL Isaiah Adams is one of them. The Arizona Cardinals kicked off their second week of training camp on Monday with the pads finally coming on. The competition between players and position battles continue. We have detailed a number of key position battles for the team. Aside from those battles, there are some individual players who have something to prove in camp this year. One such player is offensive lineman Isaiah Adams. Cardinals OL Isaiah Adams has something to prove It is true that every players in the NFL has something to prove, but Adams is in a new position. After starting the final five games last seaosn at right guard, he has been the team's starting right guard all offseason. Enteirng his second NFL season, he is the on player on the starting offensive line who doesn't already have years of starting experience. He has gotten stronger. But with free agent Will Hernandez announcing he has been medically cleared to play again after recovering from a torn ACL, that opens the door for a possible re-signing. Hernandez was the Cardinals' starting right guard the last three seasons. Adams needs to prove he is starting-caliber and not just the guy the Cardinals put in the starting lineup. Perhaps the plan all along has been to give Adams every opportunity to show he is ready to play as a starter, but possibly bring back Hernandez in the case that he isn't up to the task. He is the guy to watch on the starting offensive line both in practices and in the preseason, assuming he gets at least some playing time.
