Fifi Box reveals horrifying moment she saved a drowning baby's life while on holiday in the Maldives: 'I was traumatised'
Fifi Box has revealed how a harrowing ordeal, that saw her leap into action to save a baby's life, left her traumatised.
Recounting the horrific story on her Fox FM Fifi, Fev and Nick show on Tuesday, the radio star told co-hosts Brendan Fevola and Nick Cody that that incident occurred during a family holiday to the Maldives.
Explaining that she wasn't sure if her co-stars would believe her tale, Fifi, 48, enlisted witnesses to back up her story.
'We were in the pool non-stop. But something happened one day in the pool, and I thought if I told you boys, you might not believe me,' Fifi explained.
'So, I found myself a witness, a lovely Australian couple, Emma and Pete from Brisbane.'
Fifi then called on Emma to give her version of the dramatic incident which she said was 'confronting and scary'.
'We were drinking our Pina Colada's by the pool. You were in the water with [youngest daughter] Daisy, and a little girl had spent a lot of time floating around on her own,' Emma explained.
'Someone yelled, "Oh my god, she's gone under!" You turned around, picked her up, and plucked her out of the water. It was very confronting and scary to see.'
When Brendan Fevola asked Emma if his co-host had saved the lucky child's life, Emma said if Fifi hadn't been there, the situation may've taken a darker turn.
'She did [save the baby's life] because her parents weren't in the pool with her - they were on their sun lounge,' Emma said.
'She was probably three, she wasn't in floaties, just a floating ring, and I think she had slipped out.'
Fifi added that the incident had affected her and daughter Daisy so much, they had to leave the pool.
'There was deathly silence around the pool for minutes afterwards. I started crying and had to leave - Daisy and I left because it was too confronting,' she said.
'I was the only adult in the pool, and I turned around; she would have been 10 metres from me but under the water.

'We didn't know how long she had been under for. I plucked her up, and she was vomiting water all over me. It was horrible.'
Fellow witness Pete added that it was fortunate that it was Fifi that was called upon to spring into action.
'I was probably three pina coladas in so it was lucky it was you in the water,' Pete said to Fifi.
Continuing the conversation with her co-stars, Fifi added that she was surprised by the lackadaisical response from the child's parents.
'The mum didn't even get off the sun lounge,' she said.
'I'm actually fascinated because I've now been tested. I'm someone who freezes; whenever something goes wrong, I'm the person who can't move.
'When I saw that baby go under, I just raced to her. I was really traumatised.'
Fifi added: 'When she was vomiting and coming back to life – she was limp – so when she started to breathe and get all the water out… but the Mum hadn't moved. Everyone just stood around. I was visibly shaken.'
Another caller, Liz, also phoned in to back up Fifi's story revealing that she and her daughter witnessed the incident unfold.
Fifi has two children - Trixie, 11 and Daisy, five.
She shares Trixie with with former Ironman and Olympian Grant Kenny, while Fifi welcomed Daisy in 2019 via IVF and an anonymous sperm donor.
In November, the radio personality told Stellar magazine she's proud to have her media platform to show diverse families to everyday Aussies.
'It's important to point out and educate that families come in all different shapes and sizes,' she said at the time.
'Because I'm in the media and have a profile and platform, I'm able to shape and shift that, but it is frustrating,' she added.

Fay Ripley confesses a Traitors star played a huge part in her marriage
Cold Feet star Fay Ripley shared how she met her husband. Fay Ripley has revealed that she has The Traitors US host Alan Cumming to thank for her marriage. The 59-year-old Stretford Wives star opened up on The One Show this evening (June 12) about her journey on ITV's DNA Journey, but it was her personal anecdote about Alan that stole the show. Fay shared a charming tale of how Alan "gave" her a husband after a segment featuring the stage icon discussing his new children's musical. Host Alex Jones noted that Alan played "a key part" in Fay's life, prompting her to recount: "Alan gave me a husband!" Fay elaborated on her story, saying: "I was staying with Alan in his flat in New York because I couldn't afford to stay anywhere. "He was like, 'You can come stay with me,' we were old friends," reports Wales Online. She added with gratitude: "He introduced me to a friend of his and I married that friend, so thank you Alan!" The Cold Feet actress tied the knot with Australian actor Daniel Lapaine in October 2001 in a picturesque Tuscan ceremony. The couple have two children, Parker born in 2002, and Sonny born in 2006. Reflecting on her marriage in a 2010 interview with The Mirror, nearly a decade after they wed, Fay expressed: ""I still look at him and think, 'how lucky am I?'" She then quipped: "Not all the time, especially when he's standing in front of me in his thread-bare pyjamas. " Sharing the key to her successful relationship, she disclosed they have "no real secret," other than: "Apart from making sure that we're never apart for too long. I remember a friend of mine saying, 'three weeks is the cut-off point - up until then you still need each other'. "But once three weeks have passed, you get used to being on your own and can manage without the other person - then it gets dangerous. "So if we're ever apart for two weeks six days, I make sure we're together again by the time the clock strikes midnight!" The One Show airs weekdays from 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer.

Gogglebox favourite set to become a millionaire with huge investments
The Channel 4 star, who has been a staple of Gogglebox since 2017, is now able to splash the cash thanks to keeping up his blue collar job while filming the reality show Gogglebox star Pete Sandiford is on track to become a millionaire, thanks to some seriously smart money moves away from the TV screen. The 30-year-old, who's been a fan favourite on the Channel 4 show since 2017 alongside his younger sister Sophie, has been quietly building a small fortune behind the scenes. The siblings are known for having a hilarious back-and-forth, and have become staples of the Channel 4 show. While Pete's telly antics earn him around £1,500 per episode - split with his sister, of course - he has never solely relied on fame to fund his lifestyle. In fact, he still works as a roofer and builder, and often splits his time between filming and being up on rooftops in his hometown of Blackpool. Pete co-runs a successful construction business, TJ Joinery & Construction (NW) Ltd, which posted a tidy profit of over £88,000 in its first set of accounts. But that's just the start of his entrepreneurial streak. He has recently launched two companies of his own: Corgi Media Ltd, which handles his earnings from the entertainment world, and Corgi Real Estate – a property investment firm. His first real estate ventures involved purchasing a house in Fleetwood and an apartment in Thornton-Cleveleys, which are reportedly each worth £80,000. Industry insiders say these investments, combined with his building business and TV work, have significantly boosted his net worth - and he is now well on the way to joining the millionaire club. Although his bank balance is growing rapidly, Pete has stayed humble. He told The Sun he still finds it odd to be treated as a celebrity, adding: "I'm just a builder from Blackpool. It's a bit strange when people know who we are. I was on a roof yesterday." Pete and Sophie first appeared on Gogglebox during its tenth season. Off-screen, Pete is married to Paige Yeomans, who he has two young children with. She gave birth to their son Jimmy in late 2021, and they went on to have Evie together in June 2023. He tends to keep his family life private, and only confirmed his engagement after Sophie let it slip during filming. However, he did open up about a family-related matter on Gogglebox once, admitting his wife was stressing him out during the process of trying to plan Evie's birthday party. Pete told his sister: "Paige has been doing my head in. You know [daughter] Eva's birthday party? Have you rung about the hot pot? Have you rung about the hot pot? I was in a meeting at work the other day and she rung me four times. Guess what about?" With a chuckle, he continued: "Honestly, I said, why are we not just having sandwiches? Do I look like I am Jeff Bezos?" Meanwhile, Sophie previously worked at Debenhams before retraining as a florist. She has now launched her own business called Petali Floristry. She is also in a long-term relationship with boyfriend Ben McKeown.

How Dundee United new boy Zac Sapsford fumbled Bukayo Saka jersey when his bottle crashed
Dundee United's first summer signing Zac Sapsford has revealed how he missed out on a signed Bukayo Saka jersey when his bottle crashed – literally. The Australian forward arrives at Tannadice with a hidden skill, and it caught the eye of ex-Chelsea, Manchester United and Spain superstar Juan Mata, a teammate at Western Sydney Wanderers last season. Sapsford, 22, has a talent for bottle flipping and, after showcasing the ability over lunch during an away trip, Mata challenged the youngster to land THIRTY in a row in return for a shirt of his choice. Sapsford opted for Arsenal ace Saka – and came agonisingly close. Instead, he was tasked with weeks on the coffee run. 'I'm pretty good at bottle flipping,' he told the Row Z FC podcast. 'We were at a hotel and had just finished dinner and I was doing some bottle flips. Juan said, 'wow, you are really good at that'. Then he told me that if I got 30 in a row, he'd get me whatever jersey I want. 'I said, 'make it a signed [Bukayo] Saka jersey, and I'll do it'. So, I started, and the whole team was watching. It's getting very pressurised. I had like 28 in a row and flipped it up…then it fell. 'Everyone was all around me – even the coaches – and it was not good. I was that close. 'Instead, my punishment was to get him seven coffees whenever he wanted!' Nevertheless, the tale speaks to the rapport shared by the erstwhile teammates; two men at the opposite end of their career journeys. Mata, 35, boasts a World Cup, two European Championship and a Champions League among an astonishing haul of medals and Sapsford readily admits that the mercurial midfielder is TOO GOOD to learn from. However, his influence was still tangible. 'On the pitch, there's not much to learn from Juan – because he's too good,' he continued. 'You can't really take too much from him because you look at some of the things he does and say, 'I'll never be able to do that'. 'But off the pitch, he is an amazing person and the bits of advice he gave me in different scenarios was invaluable. 'Whether it's reacting to coming off or being annoyed at being benched one week; he'd tell me how he went through those things at top-level clubs. 'Those types of things helped me through the season, and to have someone like that somewhat mentoring you was a cool thing.' Sapsford has penned a three-year deal with the Tangerines and, along with Moldova international Iurie Iuvo, represents the first pieces of Jim Goodwin's summer rebuild at Tannadice. And he told United fans what to expect. Asked what attributes he would bring to the Scottish game, Sapsford said: 'I'd say my link-up play. 'I like to drive with the ball if I get the chance; I'm really good at that. And although I'm not super tall, I like to win most of my aerial duels. Goalscoring and assists, too. I like to set players up and find the killer pass. 'I'll never stop running and I love putting all my energy out there. I'll never come off the pitch feeling like I haven't given everything.' Sapsford, who still harbours a dream of making the Australia World Cup squad next summer, added: 'What I am expecting (in Scotland) is a lot of physicality. 'I'm happy with that. I like a bit of contact in games. That's what football is for and I'm ready for anything.' You can listen to the full episode of Row Z FC here.
