New Zealand win toss, bat against South Africa in second semi
LAHORE: New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and decided to bat against South Africa in the second semifinal of the Champions Trophy in Lahore on Wednesday.
New Zealand kept the same team that lost to India by 44 runs in their last Group A match in Dubai on Sunday.
South African skipper Temba Bavuma returned to the team after missing the last Group B game against England due to health problems, replacing Tristan Stubbs.
Top-order batter Aiden Markram — who deputised for Bavuma in the last game — also recovered in time from a hamstring problem.
The winners will play India in the final in Dubai on Sunday.

England are preparing for the Andorra game in the Spanish city of Girona and are using heat tents to test the players reaction and recovery to training in heat and humidity. Sixteen stadiums will be used at next year's World Cup with predictions of potentially extreme temperatures. In Dallas, one of the host cities, in an average year more than 80% of June and July days exceed 28 degrees Celsius. A study led by Brunel University found that, according to analysis of 20 years of weather data, 14 of the 16 host stadiums would top 28 degrees Celsius on a daily basis in June and July with four likely to hit 32 degrees in a hotter than summer. FIFPRO, the world players union, recommends that if there is Wet Bulb Globe Temperature of between 28-32 degree, cooling breaks should take place around the 30th and 75th minutes. It says that if there is a WBGT of more than 32 degrees, training and matches should be rescheduled.

Former Spurs Players Back Postecoglou Amid Uncertain Future
As Tottenham Hotspur ponder the fate of manager Ange Postecoglou, former players of the Premier League side have thrown their support behind the Australian and urged the club's ownership to stay the course. Postecoglou guided Tottenham to Europa League victory last month, ending the club's 17-year trophy drought, but they also endured their worst domestic season for nearly half a century and finished 17th in the Premier League. The 59-year-old said last month he remained unsure of his future, with reports in British media on Monday saying Tottenham are set to make their decision this week. Former Swiss international Ramon Vega, who made 64 league appearances for Tottenham, said letting the Australian go would be one of the biggest mistakes the club could make. "I find it incredibly disrespectful to even think about sacking Ange Postecoglou," Vega said on social media on Monday.
